Art & Design
The Art & Design Scholarship recognises students with creativity, technical ability, and a clear passion for visual art and design. Each year, a number of awards are offered to Sixth Form pupils who wish to pursue Art & Design at A Level and contribute meaningfully to the creative life of the school.
Art & Design Scholars at Chigwell play a leading role within the department. They are expected to be innovative, independent, and ambitious in developing their own ideas, while engaging thoughtfully with the work of other artists and designers. Scholars take pride in their studies, demonstrate commitment to high academic standards, and act as role models for younger pupils through their conduct, dedication, and enthusiasm.
As ambassadors for the department, scholars take an active role in school exhibitions, art events, and Open Days, and contribute to the Art & Design High Achievers’ Programme. They are encouraged to participate in internal and external competitions, community art projects, and creative collaborations.
Chigwell’s Art & Design Department offers pupils the freedom to explore a wide range of media - from painting, sculpture, and textiles to photography and digital design. Scholars are supported by expert teachers who nurture both technical skill and individual expression, helping each student to build a distinctive and sophisticated portfolio.
