play recreationally with their friends. I have really liked this element of Chigwell as one term I can be involved in very competitive interschool hockey or cross-country fixtures and in others I can play friendly football matches with my friends in the 3rd XI.
i my name is Yuvan and I am Head of School. I joined Chigwell in year three and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My time in the Sixth Form has been particularly good. Sixth Formers have access to a wide range of extra opportunities for people to get involved in, including music, sport and student led societies. For instance, I had the pleasure of co-leading the ‘culture and current affairs’ society alongside a few friends. This was a great experience where we were able to present and discuss ideas that interested us with like-minded people. One specific session that was incredibly stimulating involved the group debating the potential implications of an insurgent political party’s new proposals. Sport is also a key part of life at Chigwell, and offers something for all pupils, including those who want to compete at a high level and those who want to

ello, my name is Poppy and I have the honour of being Deputy Head of school. I joined Chigwell in year 7, and this school has given me so many opportunities to thrive and become the person I am today. I have not only been able to excel academically with the immense support and guidance from my teachers, but flourish outside the classroom, getting involved in a huge range of extra-curricular activities. There is something so special about Chigwell, everyone can be authentically themselves. No matter if you enjoy debating, playing badminton, singing in a choir or even climbing a mountain for DofE, which is what I think sets Chigwell apart. I’m not very outdoorsy, so while climbing a mountain might not be for me, the drama department is my home at Chigwell! I have made so many core memories from being involved in plays and musicals, as well as
Sixth Form is also a great place to learn and extend one’s academic interests. I study maths, history and economics and have found my A Levels to stretch my thinking. In these subjects I have access to a wide array of books and articles to explore concepts at greater depth in their own time. My teachers are also always willing to clarify doubts and provide helpful feedback. Overall, Chigwell Sixth form is a great place to be to develop both academically and personally. For anyone who is looking at joining sixth form here I encourage you to get involved in school life as much as possible so that you can make the best out of this opportunity you have.
meeting new friends from all different age groups. From playing a grandma in “Anastasia” to the dance captain in “Legally Blonde”, these shows have truly been the highlight of my year. I even got the opportunity in year 12 to run my own drama club, which allowed me to enhance my communication skills and share my passion with other like-minded students. Our house system is brilliant, with events like house music, pickleball and chess, that get everyone involved and a bit competitive! I remember doing the Latin quiz and even through I may have got every questions wrong… I had a blast and enjoyed stepping outside my comfort zone. At Chigwell you have to take every opportunity with open arms, and luckily, we have a fabulous network of teacher that go out of their way to support us in everything we do.
