MESSAGE FROM OUR PURPLE LEGIONNAIRE

Summer is here, thankfully, and I trust everyone is enjoying the season! The Chapter's march through the Spring semester was one chocked full of activity and incredible work. In addition to the usual collegiate activities, Chi Deuteron was successfully executing a transition of officer terms from mid-term elections to an election cycle that now aligns with the school year This move was several years in the making and will enable us to tap experienced leadership and wisdom in all roles more effectively, while adding stability for the Chapter

Also of note is the Chapter's early adoption of the "new model" for joining and membership as mandated by IHQ This model, while filled with challenges, offers much hope for the future and is representative of the societal and collegiate paradigm shifts in which we live today. The Brothers have been hard at work planning the transition and installing programming necessary to continue our success under a new way of doing things. With this transition, an incredible pressure is put upon our recruiting process. The importance of identifying and then inviting the right men to join FIJI, who have demonstrated they meet our criteria and qualities of members, has never been greater. In that respect, recruiting has shifted to more of a "job interview/screening" process where candidates are vetted prior to a bid in a dynamic and complete manner As such, recruiting requires a very high functioning engine along with team members who have both high-end engagement and advanced evaluative skills to execute it successfully All of this change occurring while KSU continues to see first year male student enrollment decline, and the competition for new members as intense as it ever has been among our Greek organizations. You can be extremely proud of the Chapter's response to these challenges as they have locked in a full Fall class for next year, which looks to be another highly accomplished and talented group of Phi Gam's.

Under new University leadership, the re-affiliation of the Greek system with the University is entering its final stages, and we will return to campus this Fall as a recognized campus organization. This ends six years of separation and culminates two semesters of work to light the path to unification It will bring many benefits to our members, not the least of which is in recruiting and visibility to new freshman

Did I say it was a busy semester? In addition to the above, the leadership team, along with key committee members, put in a herculean and well-focused effort on our International Awards submissions prior to Pig Dinner last semester They had many achievements and best in class programming to show off in their submission and worked diligently to complete applications for every award category. We will learn the results of the Chapter's efforts later this Summer. Suffice it to say, your Brothers have worked very hard to be in a position to receive recognition and put their best foot forward in their submissions.

Lastly, I wish to thank all of the volunteers who work for our Chapter The past year has seen the most engagement at all levels by our alumni I can recall in my time as a FIJI These Brothers are building relationships, mentoring, and just hitting it out of the park. The impact of your committee is apparent by the results we are seeing, and the fun our Graduates are having while winning. To all who donated to projects the past several years...THANK YOU!! With your support and the leadership of our House Corporation, our property has never looked, or functioned better To each of you who are members of the Excellence Club, I thank you for your support As a direct result of your contributions, several programs have been in place the last 4 years around the areas of leadership and scholarship These efforts have produced objective and clear evidence of success, not the least of which culminated in Chi Deuteron achieving #1 status in grades in the Fall semester. This would not have happened without the direct scholastic support of your dollars provided to the Chapter. We are funding many innovative programs with your contributions, which are developing our Brothers to be the best they can be while helping Chi Deuteron compete for and attract the best and brightest young men coming to Kansas State

It is an honor to serve alongside you and work with our Undergraduate Brothers. They are one heck of a bunch!

Fraternally,
