~ Terms and Conditions ~ 1. The highest bidder is to be the buyer. If any dispute arises between two or more bidders, sole authority to settle the dispute as he sees fit is reserved by the auctioneer and his decision will be final. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

2. Every effort has been made to insure correctness in the catalog and in most cases information quoted is taken from official records. However, RQHBA, sales management, auctioneer and announcer assume or will accept no responsibility for errors or omissions. Announced changes in catalog information on sale day take precedence over printed material.

3. RQHBA, sales management, Besler’s Cadillac Ranch and consignors shall not be responsible for any accident that may occur to spectators, buyers, horses or loss or injury in any way to the sale, during or after the sale. Any person attending this sale does so at their own risk.

4. Payment in full must be made to the sales clerk immediately after the sale. Terms of the sale are cash, personal check or credit card (US Funds).

We now accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. All credit card purchases will incur an additional 4% fee per transaction.

5. All known blemishes or defects will be called before the bidding begins.

6. All horses become the responsibility and property of the buyer when they leave the ring.

Buyers must make arrangements for care of horses at their own risk until delivery is taken.

7. We strongly urge buyers to thoroughly examine horses that interest them. All sales are absolute and final.

8. No horses will be sold prior to the sale.

9. Registration papers: management will send registration papers for transfer. Registration papers will not be sent before 20 banking days.

Buyer will be charged $20 for AQHA member transfer or $75 for non-member transfer, which includes a one-year AQHA membership.

10. The sales management, RQHBA, the auctioneer and the announcer act as agents for the seller, but assume no liability. Any representations made are between the seller and the buyer.

11. Releases: No horses are to be removed until settled for. In order for horses to be removed from the grounds, you must show your sales receipt. Make sure all information on the receipt is correct. Also, be sure to give the receipt to the person ultimately responsible for removing your horse from the sale grounds.

About RQHBA The Ranchers Quarter Horse Breeders Association was first organized in the spring of 2000 when a group of South Dakota quarter horse breeders met to formulate a plan to market their foals, and has evolved into a highly recognized Performance and Prospect Sale & Futurity, featuring the top offerings from 9 member ranches. Ranches must apply for membership and participate as a Guest Consignor for at least one year, before being selected for membership by the RQHBA to assure that their program meets our high standards.

Organization Goals & Membership The goal of the RQHBA is to conduct a Select Sale to showcase the Breeders’ top weanlings, yearlings, started and finished performance horses. Each ranch may not sell more than 50% of the current year’s foal production. The purpose of this rule is to maintain a high quality sale without having a total production sale for any one member. Besides the current 10 ranches in western South Dakota, northeastern Wyoming and southeastern Montana that are RQHBA members, there are also about 35 invitational saddle horses being offered in the sale.

Thank you for attending the 18th Annual Select Performance & Showcase Sale of the Ranchers Quarter Horse Breeders Association.

Come to the sale grounds at 8 a.m. for the Ranch Horse Futurity. See sale horses in action at 9 a.m. for the Performance Preview and compare foals side by side during the Weanling Showcase. Visit with breeders about their programs. Remember all foals will be halter broke, gentle, and eligible for the 2019 RQHBA Futurities. All 2018 foals are eligible for the 2019 Don Brunner Futurity and the RQHBA 2 and 3 year old Futurities as they come of age. Breakfast and lunch will be available on the grounds.

All horses sold at the RQHBA are inspected for quality. The sale horses are vet checked by a veterinarian when they are Coggins tested. They are then inspected by a screening committee and sale veterinarian on sale day. All foals are halter broke and gentle for the sale. The foals are presented in the showcase so buyers can compare foals side by side before the sale. Riding horses will also preview before the sale.

You will find members and guest consignor’s names and phone numbers here in the catalog. Please feel free to give any of the association members or guest consignors a call about their horses. All horses are available for inspection at the respective ranches anytime prior to sale day. Know that all horses in the sale are selected from a larger group and each ranch has more at home like these that are represented at the sale. Your visit is always welcome!

We are very proud to be part of our RQHBA “family” and contribute our quality horses to the RQHBA lineup. Our four kids, Corey, Collin, Layla, and Cole Allen and I have been raising horses together for 20+ years. With our four children involved, that makes us in our fourth generation of raising quality horses that are in high demand.

“Pinch” always brings in one of our best. This is a nice filly - but hard to get pictures of as she likes to hide behind mom. Miss Pinch is appendix registered but would qualify for foundation registry on percentage. She is a full sister to Toponas Jewel, a mare that earned her AQHA performance ROM with very little showing, and Mr Pinch, who did the same. Watch Joe Gamble is a big horse that has produced horses that are well thought of in Montana.

Our ranch is located north of Enning, SD which is 60 miles east of Sturgis. We have been raising Quarter Horses since 1997. All colts are eligible to compete in the RQHBA Futurities and AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge.

This is my 18th year with the RQHBA. I have been a member of AQHA since 1972 as a Breeders Referral, and a Ranchers Heritage Breeder – both since their inception.

I strive to produce foals with super dispositions, and conformation, strapped with colorful hides and the ability to compete in any venue.

The mares and stallions run in large pastures with minimal human contact until I gather the 1st of August to halter break the foals.

My parents always told me as a baby,I couldn’t tolerate ordinary milk so I was raised on wild mares milk. Guess you could say horses have been in my blood for a lifetime.

We are located northeast of Sturgis SD, living on the place that was homesteaded by Gary’s grandfather.

Acord Quarter Horses is a small, family-owned operation in northeast Wyoming. We have been breeding and raising Quarter Horses for over 20 years, beginning in 1998 when we purchased our first stud, Kramers Doc. Kramers Doc was a great-grandson of Doc Bar, his own parentage going back to Devils Doc and Frosty Mountain (daughter of Rocky Mountain High). We stood Kramers Doc to our own small band of mares, featuring bloodlines from Codys Class C Tuch, Two-Eyed Jack, Coys Bonanza, Kings Blue Chip, Papoose Bess, and Roan Bar.

As we have grown, our subsequent studs have included Acords Little Doc (son of Kramers Doc), Acords Sugar Joy (son of Acords Little Doc), and BA King (son of Plenty Coup Hancock). With the addition of these three studs and many new mares, over time we added bloodlines from Codys Class C Tuch, Sugar Bars, Poco Bueno, and Joe Hancock. While most of our stock is AQHA-registered, we do own some grade mares, which we cross to our registered studs. One of our ranch-raised fillies recently won the AQHA ranch horse versatility competition (novice class) in Guthrie, OK! Currently, we breed 10 to 15 mares per year; the foals are available for sale as weanlings and yearlings, but we do keep several back a year to raise and train as saddle horses. Our specialty is raising allaround ranch horses that are ready to go to the arena.

We train all our own horses. Shawn has over 40 years’ experience as a horse trainer; he also gives horsemanship and colt-starting clinics several times per year. We live and work on a 64,000-acre Hereford ranch, so the saddle horses are exposed to all aspects of ranch work. Shawn also competed in the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Extreme Mustang Makeover competitions in Fort Worth, TX. As we mentioned, ours is a family operation; all six of our kids have helped with the horse business over the years. Currently, our youngest three help with training, riding, and marketing our horses.

This super gentle gelding has been used on the ranch his whole life. I raised & trained him from a weanling off the Open Box Rafter Ranch in Faith, SD & he has been one of the most easy going, smart, colts I’ve ever broke.

I’ve sorted, pasture doc. calves, trailed cows, drug hundreds of calves the the ovens with no blow ups. He is a very good, sound mined horse. I can do any thing off of him and know he’s gonna “keep his head” when things get a little tight/ nerve wracking. I leave him set all winter, jump on him in the spring & he acts like he’s never had a day off. Stays broke. He is my go-to horse when novice riders come to the ranch. Two Futurities For RQHBA Horses: All weanlings purchased at this sale are eligible for:

2019 RQHBA

Don Brunner Memorial Yearling Futurity Futurity Information: n Purse divided per studs, geldings, and fillies divisions futurity is for yearlings only. n To be eligible, the foal must have sold through the 2018 RQHBA sale; eligibility will follow the horse. n The yearling must show at the Central States Fair in 2019. n Winnings will be awarded to the registered owner at time of futurity. n Original papers are to be presented for show registration to verify ownership. n AQHA membership is required. n Showing expenses are the owner’s responsibility (entry fees, stall, etc.). n Payout will be 60% for 1st place, 30% 2nd place, 10% 3rd place. n RQHBA members/weanling consignors are not eligible to compete for the futurity funds.

2018 Ranch Horse Futurity 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at Besler’s Cadillac Ranch Any horse purchased from a member through the RQHBA sale that turned 2 or 3 years old in 2018 can compete for cash! Mares, geldings and stallions can compete against others in their age division for $500 per class plus all entry fees will be added to each ages pots in 2018.

Entry fees are $75 if paid by Aug. 1; late entries will be accepted for an additional fee. Following is what the 2- and 3-year-olds will be judged on: 1. Gate (Horseback).

2. Bridge (Walk Over).

3. Logs (Trot Thru).

4. Log (Drag Figure 8).

5. Reining Pattern (will be posted morning of futurity).

6. Dismount on the right side & pick up right near leg.

7. Exit Arena.

First place in each class gets 60% of the pot, second place wins 30% of the pot, and third place wins 10% of the pot.

In the event of a tie, the horse with the highest reining score will win.

Participants will have three attempts at each obstacle before passing. Participants have the option of skipping an obstacle he or she feels would not do his or her pattern justice.
