BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Heidi Parker Heidi Parker is the City Council Liason. She is the only other new member who grew up in Belle Fourche. Heidi holds a bachelor of science degree in communication studies from South Dakota State University in Brookings. She raised her children in Rapid City and returned to Belle Fourche in 2019 when she and her husband bought a historic home that they are lovingly renovating. When Heidi is not working in healthcare or serving on city council, she can be found with her family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, gardening, at a concert, traveling, or seeking out vintage treasures. Heidi is employed at Black Hills Vision Care.

(605) 892-2676 | events@bellefourchechamber.org The Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce serves to promote our members, the commercial, civic, and general interests of the city of Belle Fourche, and our trade area. As a voluntary organization our aim is to represent and advocate for our members and the business community as a whole.

We are not a civic club, a charitable organization, or department of city government. We are a private, non-profit, taxpaying corporation focused on improving the community and businesses of Belle Fourche. We’re compromised of people — people just like you, who realize that we can accomplish more collectively than individually.

BELLE FOURCHE HISTORY

LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR

BUTTE COUNTY, SOUTH DAKOTA MILITARY PERSONNEL LISTED AS WAR CASUALTIES -The list was compiled by the South Dakota Department of Military and Veterans Affairs in Pierre and the data was obtained from several sources including: The Doane Robinson’s Encyclopedia of 1925, the book “South Dakota in WWII”, from the Records of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and from information provided to us by relatives, friends, etc. While every effort has been made to make this listing as accurate as possible, it is quite possible that there may be some errors. If you notice that our records are not correct, such as the omission of an individual’s name, we would appreciate receiving copies of old newspaper articles, casualty reports, etc., so we can make the appropriate corrections. World War I: James Black Harold D. Blackwell Ernest C. Bunny John F. Ellison Chas. E. Gass Emil Gurwell G.A. Hetland Bert Howard Charles E. Bader Alfred E. Brammer Lon F. Brown William H. Conner Frank O. Dinkins Gordon L. Hanes Harold L. Johnson Oscar Iverson Charles O. Leonard Waxy Miller Alfred J. Nive Leslie Osgood Harry Osloon Matt Emil Pale World War II: Waine W. Kayras Charles W. Kirk Edward Kling Robert K. Magee Francis E. Mitchell Leonard Nedella Korea: Milford D. Richards Vietnam: Lelund Morris Kahler We have nominated our 85HWY Bridge to be decorated to Lelund. He grew up in Belle Fourche; his parents were Henry and Joyce Kahler. Joyce was a long-time teacher and Henry was the school janitor. Belle Fourche will be visited by the replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier August 10 & 11; a fitting acknowledgement of our great sacrifices and loyalty to the country.

WOW the month of July flew by and we have been busy working with many of you on your business information and opportunities for you to advertise your business. The Chamber feels the Business Scorecards were a huge eye opener for not just our businesses but for myself and things we need to address. It is not too late to meet with me to get your information up to date. Our Business directory is one of the biggest benefits to our members and there is a lot of work that needs to be done to make sure we are advertising your business to its full potential. Not only has the business scorecard been helpful to see the areas that need to be addressed but has also given me the opportunity to meet some of you for the first time. With us having over 236 business members it is hard to get out and meet all of you, but I do feel it is important for me to schedule times to meet with you and visit. With that being said I would like to schedule times with our business owners after the Sturgis Rally to meet you and visit. Please complete the form below and return to me to schedule a 30 minute appointment time. Meetings will be scheduled after the Sturgis Rally.
