Every animal is to the best of our knowledge, free from any disease or defect. All animals are guaranteed breeders. If an animal proves to be a non-breeder, an animal of comparable rank will be substituted or money refunded or credit received for future sale.
There have been many changes and challenges in the farming and ranching business over the many years ranging from weather, markets, technology, trends, etc. Just the changes in technology alone can blow your mind. I remember my dad typing out the sale weights on his manual typewriter with carbon sheets the night before the sale; and mom “running them off” on the ditto machine. As I look over past catalogs dating back to 1960 and see the various types of cattle featured, several thoughts come to mind. Why did we ever get rid of the cattle of the 1970’s? For the most part, they were really good cattle that would serve our industry well today. What were we thinking in the 1980s and 90s? I remember shaving the bellies and greasing the tailheads with vaseline to make them look taller. I think the cattle of the past decade are pretty good cattle.

Twenty years from now, what will we think of the cattle we are currently raising? Are we so enamored with the technology of EPDs, genomic testing, cloning, and virtual selection that we have forgotten about the basics of form and function? We must not overlook the natural instincts of cattle to efficiently convert grass to meat and milk. Bulls need to act like bulls and cows need the ability to raise a good calf. As was the case of the Hereford beef at the time of our breed’s founding in Herfordshire, England, taste and tenderness must still be the driving force of our product. The focus of my breeding program is to provide predictable Hereford genetics to the commercial livestock industry at an affordable price. By concentrating the genetics of strong bull and female lines and through ruthless culling, I have built a cowherd of females that have sound udder quality, similar body type, and the natural maternal instincts to raise a good calf.

The bulls have similar genetic makeup and it shows in their uniformity. My goal is produce bulls of similar type and quality to allow producers to select for multiple sire settings where uniformity in the calf crop is the objective. Sale Format
The format of the sale is private treaty on a first-come, first-served basis. The quality of the bulls is deep and if it gets late in the sale season before you decide you need a bull, I will still have quality bulls to choose from. The bulls are reasonably priced and I am willing to give volume discounts. Over the past few years, I have had many customers have me pick out their bulls, and I will guarantee you will like your bulls.
Terms and Conditions
Terms of the sale are cash and payment is due before cattle will be moved. All animals are at owner’s risk prior to sale and become property of the purchaser as soon as declared sold.

As a first calf heifer, HH W124 Sally A124, weaned off C134 weighing 682 pounds with a 117 weaning index earning her a 106.8 MPPA. C134’s calves are easily rising to the top with solid performance , outstanding thickness and structural correctness. The Dubai females are super attractive and are making excellent producers.

Dubai was purchased from Remitall in Canada in 2013. He is backed by generations of powerful prolific females. His daughters are very feminine with ideal udder and teat qualities. They are big, broody females with correct skeletal structure, thickness and notable length of hip. Dubai suffered a stifle injury early in his career and was used sparingly. His sons will be seeing heavy use in the future.

C337 is a Dubai 54A son that comes from a very strong cow family that is super easy fleshing. I would expect the females out of this bull to be low maintenance females that will go out and do a good job.
B226 is the genetic combination of the Sharpshooter, Precise, and the Triple Crown lines. His maternal strengths are a combination of the prolific Remitall Rita and Sally cow families.

Fargo was used successfully on first calf heifers . He’s low birthweight, smoothmade, and stylish and is backed by the Marvel cow family. His replacement heifers look tremendous and have that early brood cow look. Fargo will see more heifers again in 2018.
Sterling was used with great success on first calf heifers for a couple of years. I liked his offspring so much I have used him on cows the last few years. His EPDs are exceptional in the birth, growth, milk, and maternal trait categories. His sire, LBH 39T Sterling 53W, is the number one sire in the 2017 Canadian Herefords Associations Feedlot Trait Merit Index. The FMI is an EPD to monitor cost for the cow-calf and feedlot sectors, while deriving the best returns from carcasses. Sterling is an impact sire and I am keeping every one of his daughters and using several of his sons.

Sustain was purchased from Stuber Ranch in 2015 and has been used successfully on first calf heifers. His calves are vigorous at birth and get up and grow. His daughters are keepers and I expect them to be productive brood cows. He’s one of the best heifer bulls I’ve used in a long time.

X357 has certainly done a good job the six seasons he has been used. He’s an attractive proud bull that keeps track of his cows and gets them bred every year. X357 sires length, thickness, and frame and stamps his offspring with a stylish look. Several sons are out of polled cows this year.

Heifers. The sire of this bull, SR Sustain 724B, sired 32 calves in 2017, all out of first or second calf heifers with only one calf assisted with a front back leg. I would expect this bull to be suitable on heifers as he has a little lighter bone structure, is smooth shouldered, has a smaller head, but is long and full of capacity and muscle.
Wow! Here’s the number 1 weaning weight bull of all the bulls this year. He didn’t quit growing after weaning either as he continues to be one of the top performers in his contemporary group. Very predictable background on this bull with great milk, carcass, performance and acceptable birthweight. Impact herd sire.

Heifers. LJS Mark Domino 1321 was used successfully on first calf heifers and I would expect this 1321 son to work on heifers as well. E135 is a waste free bull with smooth shoulders and a smaller head. He’s an attractive bull with good markings, great hair, and a thick rear end.
Heifers. Calving ease sire with solid growth, carcass, and maternal. E153 carries good thickness down into his lower quarter. Smaller head, smooth shoulders and length make him suitable for first calf heifers. Very strong maternal background to this bull.

Heifers. Fargo was used successfully on first calf heifers and has produced some awesome looking heifer calves. I can’t wait to get them into production. The Fargo calves are an outcross genetic package that are stylish, low birth weight, but yet still have muscle and mass.

I really like the cows in this bull’s background. They are all prominent, good-uddered, easy-fleshing cows that have withstood the test of time. Great bull here from birth to weaning and is proving himself on test. Keep every female out of this bull.

Heifers. This three generation pedigree sure takes me back on memory lane. E374’s maternal great grandmother, HH Miss Toledo 2851, was out of the first crop of calves by GK WRF Toledo 11Z. 11Z, born in 1990, was bred by Glen Kirkland and was the top-gaining and top-selling bull in the 1991 Midland Bull Test. Toledo was certainly a very good bull in his time and would certainly be a hot commodity in today’s beef industry. The Toledo females were some of the soundest, best-uddered females I have ever seen.
Heifers. Heifer bull prospect that has a small head, smooth shouldered, and has extra length. CJH Harland 408 and HH Advance 7046 are two sires in the background of this bull’s dam that were used exclusively on first calf heifers with success.

Here’s a prospect with a high concentration of Mohican Hunter 57H, he shows up in the background of this pedigree four times. Ray Johnson’s Rose cow family appears twice. The Precise line comes through on both the top and bottom sides of the pedigree. With the linebred constistency, the EPD values of this individual and both sides of his parents are nearly identical. Solid predictable herd bull prospect.
Here’s a good bull out of a nine year old commercial Hereford cow. The target market for Hereford bulls has been the black cow herd yielding the queen of cows and king of feeder cattle . . . the F1 black baldie. The bottom side of this pedigree represents cows that date back to 2004 and combined they have produced 24 natural calves. This bull may not have all the bells and whistles, genomically enhanced EPDs, or may not be part of the current fads and buzz words, but his maternal background will sure keep you in business.
I get a few sale catalogs every year, mostly Hereford and Angus, one thing I’ve noticed is that everyone is using the same bulls. The genetic diversity of the gene pool has been narrowed considerably to the detriment of the cattle breeds. Break out a Hereford Journal from the 1970s, you’d be amazed at the various lines of cattle. All but one individual in this bull’s three generation pedigree walked our pastures.

I like this bull! He’s conservative marked with red eyes, thick, has good structure, and carries himself well when he travels. He has a strong maternal and performance pedigree and his EPD profile is hard to match. His maternal grandmother, HH Miss Hunter 841P, is the mother of herd bull, HH Precise T137, that did a really good job here.
This is a bull to build a herd around. When studying pedigrees one of the first places I look is at the way bottom side. Here it would be this bull’s mother, HH U234 Dakota Lady Z77, the maternal grandmother, HH MS Centurion P456, and the maternal great grandmother, HH MS Mark Dom 7595. The “HH” prefix shows this is a cow family within the “HH” herd. The letters before or after the number usually stands for the birth year. “Z” in Z77 means the cow was born in 2012, “P” in P546 was born in 2004, and the “7” in 7595 in 1997. This shows this cow line has been in the “HH” herd since 1997. You can apply this “study” of pedigrees to any generation, any individual and most breeds of cattle. Keep the daughters of this bull.

Here is a super-long, top performance son of Dubai that is really hard to fault. He’s the number 2 weaning weight bull of all the bulls. He has a very strong maternal and performance pedigree that ensures his predictable performance. Herd bull!
Here’s a younger bull that competes well with his contemporaries. This bull didn’t have an 1100 pound weaning weight like I see in some sale catalogs. However, his first calf mother doesn’t weigh 2200 pounds either. A good rule of thumb is a cow that weans 50% of her bodyweight is doing an exceptional job raising a calf.
