Dear Dinner Guests, It is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to Chicago United’s 50th Anniversary Gala. We appreciate your support and are so pleased to have you with us on this very special occasion. Chicago United got its name during a time in which the city was anything but. Instead, the name was chosen as a statement of aspiration and hope, and we share those same hopes and aspirations today, 50 years on. With gratitude we acknowledge the leadership of our 50th Anniversary Dinner Gala Co-Chairs, Chairman, CEO & Chief Investment Officer, Ariel Investments, John W. Rogers, Jr., President, Greeley and Hansen, John Robak, and Senior Executive Vice President & CEO, Exelon Utilities, Anne Pramaggiore. Anne has also shown inspirational and effective leadership as Chairwoman of the Chicago United Board of Directors for which I will always be grateful. I express gratitude to the 2018 50th Anniversary Host Committee and the members of Chicago United’s Board of Directors, for their unwavering support. Many thanks to this evening’s sponsors, especially our Chairman’s Circle, for your extraordinary support. Every organization depends on meaningful partnerships and supporters. Gratefully we acknowledge media partner ABC7, including General Manager John Idler, Vice President Community Affairs, Diana Palomar and this evening’s emcee Stacey Baca. Our longtime partner, the Chicago Sinfonietta, with which Chicago United produced the musical celebration Chicago Unites, will perform inspiring music during the dinner. The Surdna Foundation, The Chicago Community Trust, The Field Foundation and Free For All Fund provided invaluable support of Chicago United’s 2018 programs. The work of Chicago United results from the collaboration between the hardworking staff and consultants. Thank you to Julia Arneson, Gail Arrigo, Laura Cantu, Kimberly Crooms, Carrie Osslund, Abby Torres and Doris Salomón; the hardest working nonprofit team in Chicago. Consultants Charmon Parker Williams, Ralph G. Moore, Dan Perkins, and Patricia Vogt have added value in immeasurable ways. The Chicago United team thanks the exceptional professional services business partners who work with us throughout the year, including Andrews Printing, Weber Shandwick, PJH & Associates, ElementoL2, and Blue Daring. Most important, we thank every member of Chicago United for their personal and organizational resources to support our mission. To all who made this 50th Anniversary Gala a success, thank you! Sincerely,
Gloria Castillo President Chicago United CHICAGO UNITED 50TH ANNIVERSARY GALA

The ability to adapt to different circumstances and cultural environments makes a better leader. If we can instill these skills early and cultivate them, we can create a better world.
We have different types of people with different strengths and weaknesses. My job is to show them how they can advance their weaknesses into strengths, to make them into the leaders of tomorrow.
