The voice, charisma, and talent of Aída Cuevas have shaped one of the most distinguished careers in traditional Mexican and Latin American music. Over the course of fifty years, “The Queen of Ranchera Music” has been honored with numerous awards from presidents, royalty, governments, and prestigious institutions worldwide. With thirty-five albums to her name, eleven nominations, and the honor of winning both a Grammy Award and a Latin Grammy Award, she remains, to this day, the only woman in the mariachi genre to have received both awards—an even more remarkable achievement in a field traditionally dominated by men.
Aída Cuevas began her career singing in amateur competitions at the age of eleven, when her extraordinary talent was first discovered. Her national debut took place in 1975, at just twelve years old, on the live radio show El Taller XEW. Only a year later, she was already performing in Europe, marking the beginning of numerous appearances across the Old Continent from a very young age. For her third studio album, renowned Mexican composer Armando Manzanero produced her record Cari Cari and gifted her the first song he ever wrote for mariachi: “Te vas para tu casa.”
Her career reached a new level of success in 1982 when the legendary artist and producer Juan Gabriel sought her out to record and produce a full album of his original, unreleased songs. This album cemented her status as La Voz de México (The Voice of Mexico).
Now recognized as the “Greatest Exponent of Mexican Music,” Aída Cuevas has taken her country’s traditional music to the world’s most prestigious stages. With half a century of success, she has become a living legend and is regarded as the last great queen of the exclusive circle of ranchera music icons in Mexico’s history.
She is a woman of integrity who deeply loves her country, who wears the traje de charro with honor, and who sings with pride, straight from the heart. As simple and true as that—this is Aída Cuevas.

La voz, el carisma y el talento de Aída Cuevas han forjado una de las carreras más destacadas en la música tradicional mexicana y latinoamericana. A lo largo de cincuenta años de trayectoria artística, “La Reina de la Música Ranchera” ha sido galardonada con múltiples reconocimientos otorgados por presidentes, reyes, gobiernos e instituciones de gran prestigio a nivel mundial. Con treinta y cinco álbumes en su haber, once nominaciones y el honor de haber ganado tanto el Premio Grammy como Premio Grammy Latino, es, hasta la fecha, la única mujer del género mariachi en recibir ambos premios, un logro aún más significativo en un ámbito tradicionalmente dominado por hombres.
Aída Cuevas comenzó su carrera cantando en concursos amateurs a los once años, cuando su excepcional talento fue descubierto. Su primera aparición a nivel nacional ocurrió en 1975, a los doce años, en el programa de radio en vivo “El Taller XEW”. Solo un año después, ya se presentaba en
Europa, iniciando así una serie de actuaciones por el viejo continente desde una edad temprana. Para su tercer disco de estudio, el reconocido compositor mexicano Armando Manzanero produjo su álbum Cari Cari y le obsequió la primera canción que escribió para mariachi: Te vas para tu casa.
Su carrera alcanzó un gran éxito en 1982, cuando el icónico artista y productor Juan Gabriel la buscó para grabar y producir un álbum completo con canciones inéditas de su autoría. Este disco la consagró como “La Voz de México”.
Conocida como “La Máxima Exponente de la Música Mexicana”, Aída Cuevas ha llevado la música tradicional de su país a los escenarios más prestigiosos del mundo. Con medio siglo de trayectoria y éxitos, se ha convertido en leyenda viviente y es considerada la última gran reina del selecto grupo de exponentes del género ranchero en la historia de México.
Ella es una mujer íntegra que ama profundamente a su país, que porta con respeto el traje de charro y que, con orgullo, canta desde el corazón. Tan simple y verdadero como eso, así es Aída Cuevas.

In collaboration with the Houston Grand Opera, Mariachi Aztlán premiered the stage production of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna, the world’s first mariachi opera in 2010. A second performance of the same production took place in 2013 with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mariachi Aztlán also premiered the mariachi opera El Pasado Nunca Se Termina with Lyric in 2015.
Under the direction of Dahlia Guerra and Francisco Loera, Mariachi Aztlán has been captivating audiences throughout Mexico, Canada, and the United States since its establishment in 1989. The ensemble travels as musical ambassadors representing the beauty of Hispanic music and its cultural traditions. Recognitions for performance excellence initiated an invitation
Other national performances include appearances at the Tuscan International Mariachi Conference, the San Diego International Mariachi Festival, and the Chicago Mariachi Festival. The ensemble has served as guest clinicians at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza and the Mariachi Spectacular. Most recent concerts include performances since 2019 with “La Reina Del Mariachi” Aída Cuevas, who has invited them to perform on her 2026 tour that includes more than thirty shows in North America.

Bajo la dirección de Dahlia Guerra y Francisco Loera, el Mariachi Aztlán ha cautivado al público en México, Canadá y Estados Unidos desde su fundación en 1989. Han viajado como embajadores musicales representando la belleza de la música hispana y sus tradiciones culturales. Los reconocimientos obtenidos por su excelencia artística dieron lugar a una invitación de la Casa Blanca para participar en la ceremonia de firma de una Orden Ejecutiva que renovó y fortaleció la Iniciativa de la Casa Blanca para la Excelencia Educativa de los Hispanos, presentándose ante el presidente Barack Obama en 2010.
En colaboración con la Houston Grand Opera, Mariachi Aztlán estrenó en 2010 la producción escénica Cruzar la Cara de la Luna, la primera ópera
mariachi del mundo. Una segunda presentación de esta misma producción tuvo lugar en 2013 junto a la Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mariachi Aztlán también estrenó la ópera mariachi El Pasado Nunca Se Termina con la Chicago Lyric Opera en 2015.
Otras presentaciones nacionales destacan sus participaciones como artistas invitados en la Tuscan International Mariachi Conference, San Diego International Mariachi Festival y los festivales de mariachi de Chicago. El mariachi también ha participado como invitado clínico en el Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza y el Mariachi Spectacular. Desde 2021 han sido el mariachi base de «La Reina del Mariachi», Aída Cuevas, quien ha invitado a este mariachi a formar parte de sus giras por Norteamérica, y ahora en 2026, incluyen más de treinta presentaciones en Norteamérica.
