During the Chrysler Cars 4 Classrooms event, parents and friends of the school, will have the opportunity to earn a $10 contribution, up to $2,000, for Shoop MathScience Tech Elementary Academy students by taking a brief test drive in the all-new Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid – the only hybrid minivan available on the market.

BASIC ACTIONS CAN STOP LIFE-THREATENING BLEEDING, HELP BYSTANDERS SAVE LIVES WASHINGTON, DC — Bleeding is the leading cause of preventable trauma-related death in the United States.

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) recently partnered with local emergency care experts for Stop the Bleed Day which was held on on March 31, 2018.

The campaign’s goal was to equip the general public with the tools and knowledge to become immediate responders and help stop life-threatening bleeding.

After ensuring their own safety, anyone can start the “ABCs of Bleeding Injuries,” according to an ACEP press release which include: (A)lert. Get help by calling 911 yourself or telling somebody to call 911.

(B)leeding. Find the bleeding injury. Open or remove clothing over the wound to see it clearly. Look for and identify “life-threatening” bleeding.

(C)ompress. Apply pressure to stop the bleeding by: 1. Covering the wound with a clean cloth and applying pressure by pushing directly on it with both hands, OR; 2. Using a tourniquet, OR; 3. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS ILLINOIS CHAPTER ENDORSES JB PRITZKER FOR GOVERNOR CHICAGO – The Illinois chapter of the National Association of Social Workers recently endorsed JB Pritzker for governor. NASW-IL advocates for over 20,000 licensed social workers in the state of Illinois, 6,000 of which are active members. The endorsement comes after JB Pritzker secured the Democratic nomination for governor.

“It is time to think big, it is time for a new direction. Our best chance for a new Illinois is under the leadership of JB Pritzker,” said NASW-IL spokesman Kyle Hillman.

he Women’s Entrepreneur and Business Resource Forum was recently hosted by the Village of Dolton. The forum called on local entrepreneurs and business professions from all around Chicago to gather, network, and share tips and tricks of the trade.

Some contributors included the U.S. Small Business Administration, Women’s Business Development Center, Chicago Women in Trades, Push Out Purpose, and The Far South Community Development Corporation.

Lead Economic Development Specialist for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Illinois division, Carole Harris, spoke at the event to encourage women to take the next step in opening or expanding their businesses. She said the most important part is staying positive and having a clear vision.

“Take the time to look at what your vision is and be able to articulate that vision. Carry your vision forward in the positive and you will have really good results as you work with advisors. Carry forward and say, this is what I envision, this is what I’m looking to do, and here are my questions,” said Harris.

Development Corporation, Florence Hardy, was another speaker at the event and gave advice on how to turn a hobby into a business.

“The question that you need to be asking as you move from a homebased business to a brick and mortar is, what are the strengths and weaknesses and opportunities that can be taken advantage of as you make that move?” said Hardy.

It is also important to consider logistics when looking for a retail space, said Hardy. She advised business owners to use a realtor and look for spaces that have already been occupied by a business like theirs.

“Really consider demographics, think about pricing, think about ease of parking and access, all of these things matter when you think about the location which is why a lot of times it helps to use a commercial real estate agent because they have that expertise,” said Hardy.

This event stemmed from Mayor of Dolton, Riley Rogers wanting to go even further than just improving the unemployment rate which he has done since being elected in 2013.

“When I came into office, we had 15.7% unemployment so one of the many things I wanted to do was try and get businesses in town and have those businesses employ some of those residents. We went from 15.7% unemployment to 6.7% unemployment.

The next step is, if we can’t get everybody hired, maybe we can get people into their own business which would make them gainfully employed and able to support their own families and they can flourish,” said Rogers.

Rogers said that he was able to cut the unemployment rate in half by demanding that any business wanting something from the city, like a speedy permit or a tax break, must hire a certain amount of residents from Dolton.

hile the prevalence of prediabetes is similar among all racial groups, African Americans are disproportionately affected by the health consequences of type 2 diabetes, including high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

For example, African Americans are 1.5 times more likely to be hospitalized and 2.3 times more likely to die from diabetes than non-Hispanic whites. And, 50 percent more likely to develop diabetic retinopathy than non-Hispanic whites, the CDC reports.

Calling it a “serious health condition” on its website, the CDC defines, prediabetes as a “condition where blood sugar www.thechicagocitizen.com

levels are higher than normal, but not high enough yet to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes.”

According to an AMA press release, 84 million people in the U.S. are living with prediabetes—the precursor to type 2 diabetes—and 90 percent don’t even know they have it.

Fifteen to thirty percent of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes in 5 years if left untreated, said AMA President David O. Barbe, M.D. On Diabetes Alert Day, held recently on March 27, the American Medical Association (AMA) called on all Americans to find out whether they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes by taking an online prediabetes risk test at DoIHavePrediabetes.org.

grapples with deep racial and economic injustices and inequality in communities from coast to coast, the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and Church of God in Christ (COGIC) recently launched a national effort to ensure that the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the 1968 Memphis sanitation strikers live on with a new generation of activists. With the goal of advancing labor and civil rights and tackling issues plaguing low-income communities nationwide, the I AM 2018 campaign is transforming Memphis into the birthplace of a new political movement and aggressive voter education and civic engagement program to mobilize turnout for the 2018 elections and beyond. The campaign was launched on April 2 and is continuing today on April 4.

Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Fifty years to the day of his assassination- the country’s most prominent civil rights, faith, labor, entertainment and other leaders are holding the first-of-itskind trainings, mobilization and commemoration activities across the city, including at Mason Temple COGIC, the site of Dr. King’s final, prophetic “I’ve been to the Mountaintop” speech.

Alongside these trainings, prominent journalists, academics, community leaders and subject experts are joining a three-day Mountaintop Conference featuring panels on criminal justice reform, minority youth education, the future of American workers and the intersection of labor, faith and civil rights.

“I AM 2018 isn’t just a reflection on the past; it’s a call to action for the future. Dr. King and the Memphis strikers knew that you can’t achieve economic justice without racial justice,” said AFSCME President Lee Saunders.

“And yet, 50 years after Dr. King›s Mountaintop speech, working people are still fighting those same fights. We›re embarking on a historic partnership with COGIC to build and grow a network of trained, energized activists, connecting our generation›s struggles with the unfinished work of the heroes of Memphis: Dr. King, the Memphis strikers and the faith

“On the evening of April 3, 1968, Dr. King stood in the pulpit of Mason Temple and declared ‘We, as a people, will get to the promised land.’ Less than 24 hours later, he was killed on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel. Over the past few weeks, activists, elected officials, students, workers and other leaders in the “I AM 2018” campaign have been organizing and building support for their work this year and beyond.

On February 1, more than 70 cities observed a coordinated Moment of Silence to honor Memphis

sanitation workers Echol Cole and Robert Walker who were crushed to death in 1968 and sparked the strike of 1,300 fellow workers that brought Dr. King to Memphis.

On February 24, two days before the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on a case that could threaten workers’ rights, thousands of working people, civil rights, labor leaders and families flooded the streets of every major city to demand freedom from want and hate and call for the U.S. to unrig its broken political and economic systems. Since then, college students and other young filmmakers have been submitting videos that connect Dr. King’s fight for justice to today’s movements for social change. The winning submissions, judged by Hans Charles, Dorian Parks, co-founder of Geeks of Color, and award-winning filmmakers Madeleine Hunt Erlich and Shahin Izadi were screened at Mason Temple on April 3rd.

The factors that increase, “a person’s risk of prediabetes include being overweight; not being physically active; having a parent, brother or sister with type 2 diabetes; being over the age of 40; and if you’re a woman, having a history of gestational diabetes,” Barbe added.

“If you receive a high score on the test, we encourage you to follow-up with your doctor to confirm your diagnosis as a blood test is needed for confirmation.

Your doctor will do a simple blood test to check your blood glucose (sugar) levels.

If those levels are too high, but not high enough yet to be type 2 diabetes, it means you have prediabetes,” he stated.

“Diabetes Alert Day is the perfect time to give our patients the wake-up call they need to take their health into their own hands and determine whether they have prediabetes—a serious health condition that often leads to type 2 diabetes and other significant health conditions like blindness, heart attack or stroke,” Dr. Barbe said in an AMA press release.

America Is Seeing A Flood Of ‘Flood Cars’ (NAPSI)—Recent research suggests drivers may be behind the wheel of more than 325,000 previously flooded vehicles.

That’s a 20 percent increase from 2016 and a stark reminder to consumers to do due diligence when used-car shopping.

ONE WOMAN’S STORY “I bought a car last year and the seller never told us anything about it being a flood car,” said Charlene Geiger from Pennsylvania. “When we got home and ran a Carfax, there it was—a flood car from Hurricane Sandy. It showed that the seller bought it as a salvage car and the title was washed when he brought it to Pennsylvania. We lost $16,000 over all of it.”

WHERE TO BE MOST WARY Vehicles reported as flood damaged by a state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), insurance companies and more have washed up in every state.

WILLIAMS©™, and any/all derivatives thereof, nunc pro tunc 06 day of February 1956, and is now the proprietary private property of Osiris: Bey and cannot be used without my prior written consent and then only under the terms set out in this contract.

12. Fact: I, Osiris: Bey, Private, Special and Priority, BEing Live, BEing Living, BEing Aware, formerly known as Leroy Allen Williams, Junior-Bey, of the House of El's, Bey's and Ali's, BEing Live, am also declaring "sui juris" status in connection with both my property and name. If ANY agency of the government disputes the above declaration of "sui juris" in connection with the "name" SWORN AN OATH and sealed in this affidavit, I demand a certified copy with my signed authorization of all documents or contracts being "held-in-due-course", pursuant to UCC 3-305.2, UCC 3-305.52 and UCC 3-505, that create Any legal disability to the claimed "sui juris" status and "alieni juris" relating to my "name".

14. Fact: I, Osiris: Bey, Secured Party, Holder-In-Due-Course is not now, nor has I, me, Osiris: Bey, Secured Party, Holder-In Due-Course has ever been, an accommodation party, nor a surety, for any of the purported FICTION, i.e.

"OSIRIS BEY, formerly known as LEROY ALLEN WILLIAMS, JUNIOR©™", nor for any derivative of nor for any nor variation in the spelling of, any of said names, nor for any other juristic person, and is so-indemnified and held harmless by the FICTION, OSIRIS BEY, formerly known as LEROY ALLEN WILLIAMS, JUNIOR©™, against any and all claims, legal actions, orders warrants, judgments, demands, liabilities, losses, depositions, summonses, lawsuits, costs, fines, liens, levies, penalties, demands, interests, and expenses whatsoever, both absolute and contingent, as are due and as might become due, now existing and as might hereafter arise, and as might be suffered by, imposed on, and incurred by the FICTION, OSIRIS BEY, formerly known as LEROY ALLEN WILLIAMS, JUNIOR©™ for any and every reason, purpose, and cause whatsoever.

15. Fact: Any indentures, debentures, bond, securities, judgments, warrants or any other kind of commercial paper issued or predicated on the name or fiction OSIRIS BEY©™, O. BEY, FORMERLY KNOWN AS LEROY ALLEN WILLIAMS, JUNIOR-BEY©™, ALLEN WILLIAMS, LEROY©™, LEROY A. WILLIAMS©™ and any/all derivatives thereof, not excluding birth certificate registration number 112-56-0000000 (private) Filed with the Illinois Bureau of Vital Statistics, Social Security Number: (private), Illinois Driver License Number:

(private), are hereby declared fraudulent, null and void. State, supra for the protection of my Estate, my Life and Liberty.

Fact: Use of the FICTION on any document associated in any manner with my Estate or me, the holder in due course, Secured Party, Exempt from Levy, without my written prior consent is strictly forbidden and chargeable to each user and issuer in the amount of the sum certain of one thousand (1000.00) dollars of silver specie in lawful coinage of the United States per user and issuer per Fiction.

WILLIAMS©™, and any/all derivatives thereof, with or without scienter of any person, man or woman or any others at the expense of any Rights, Liberty, Property or any Part of my Estate without full disclosure and written prior consent is strictly forbidden and chargeable to each of the users and issuers in the amount of the sum certain of one million ($1,000,000.00) dollars of lawful money of the United States not limited to any past, present or future for each instance of the said unauthorized use.

20. Fact: Use of the name or OSIRIS BEY©™, O. BEY, FORMERLY KNOWN AS LEROY ALLEN WILLIAMS, JUNIORBEY©™, ALLEN WILLIAMS, LEROY©™, LEROY A. WILLIAMS©™, and any/all derivative thereof on any document associated in any manner with my Estate or me, Osiris: Bey, the Living Man, the holder in due course, Secured Party, without my written prior consent is all of the evidence required for enforcement of this agreement/contract and evidence that any and all users and issuers are in full agreement and have accepted this agreement/contract under the condition and terms so stated and set forth herein and is due and payable under the terms and conditions set forth herein this agreement/contract.
