BLUES LEGENDS HONORED IN JUNE
Jacqueline Dixon, the daughter of Blues Artist Willie Dixon, said Chess Records, renamed Blues Heaven Foundation, has produced some of the biggest legendary Blues Artists such as Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry (pictured) and Etta James and more. Chess Records was formerly owned by Leonard and Phil Chess, but is currently run and owned by Jacqueline Dixon. She said her dad, established himself as one of Chess Records writers, musicians and scouters as well, adding, over the years, the Blues Heaven Foundation has assisted artists in recovering royalty money, taught musicians about copyrights, licensing and publishing and even formed a Blues School program. The Foundation plans to celebrate and honor pioneering artists during the month of June with performances at their current location on 2120 South Michigan Avenue.
