ABRAHAM LINCOLN PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM HOST ILLINOIS HISTORY CONFERENCE By Christopher Shuttlesworth The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) will host its 19th annual Conference on Illinois History on Oct. 5-6. The 2017 Illinois History Conference will feature topics on the mystery of who designed and paid for Abraham Lincoln’s coffin, future plans for the Obama Presidential Center (OPC) in Chicago and Stuart Layne, executive director of the Illinois Bicentennial Commission will discuss upcoming 2018 bicentennial projects. Christian McWhirter, a research historian at the ALPLM, said Illinois has a lot of interesting history of its own that should be highlighted more throughout the state. “When people talk about history, we tend to talk about broader national history,” McWhirter said. “But I think it’s
