NEW BAKER LIBRARY EXHIBIT AT HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDENT UNION Established in the spring of 1968, the African-American Student Union (AASU), a student club at Harvard Business School (HBS), is marking its 50th anniversary. As part of a year-long celebration, with the help of Senior Lecturer Tony Mayo and his colleagues in the Leadership Initiative, the School’s Baker Library Special Collections has mounted an extensive exhibit in the Library’s north foyer documenting the founding and growth of AASU over two decades, from the troubled times of the late 1960s — in the midst of the civil rights movement, protests against the Vietnam War, urban unrest, and the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Senator Robert F. Kennedy — until 1990.

Titled “Agents of Change: The Founding and Impact of the AfricanAmerican Student Union, Harvard Business School,” the exhibit, which will run until next fall, focuses on “the powerful mission of AASU members as agents of change…through their interactions with HBS faculty and staff and their activism on campus. The exhibition also showcases and celebrates the accomplishments of black alumni from 1915 through 1990,” Mayo writes in his introduction to the exhibit’s catalog. The exhibition also spotlights the accomplishments of a number of pioneering black faculty members.

IDPH RECEIVES MASSIVE DONATION FOR SYNTHETIC CANNABINOIDS TREATMENT The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been working with the Bausch Foundation, the independent charitable organization of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. (Valeant) to secure a donation of nearly 800,000 tablets of vitamin K. The tablets will provide treatment for people who have suffered severe bleeding after using synthetic cannabinoids (spice, K2, etc.) laced with rat poison.

A chemical found in rat poison, brodifacoum, prevents blood from clotting, resulting in severe bleeding. High doses of vitamin K taken over several months can help restore the blood’s ability to clot.

Synthetic cannabinoids are human-made, mind-altering chemicals that are sprayed on to dried plant material. These chemicals are called cannabinoids because they act on the same brain cell receptors as the main active ingredient in marijuana. The health effects from using synthetic cannabinoids can be unpredictable, harmful, and deadly.

More than 150 people in Illinois, including three deaths, have been sickened by the synthetic cannabinoids. Symptoms include coughing up blood, blood in the urine, severe bloody nose, bleeding gums, and/or internal bleeding. hosted “Mobile Office Hours” at the Macomb Public Library in Macomb, Illinois where constituent service representatives from her office were onsite to help Illinoisans with federal agencies and with receiving the Veterans Affairs, Social Security, Medicare and other federal benefits they may be entitled to. Duckworth’s Mobile Office Hours will take place in communities throughout the state over the coming months to offer constituents who may not be able to drive to one of the Senator’s offices an opportunity to meet with her staff closer to home.

At Duckworth’s Mobile Office Hours, constituents can also learn about the federal grant application process, service academy nominations and internship opportunities. Senator Duckworth currently has three offices, one in Chicago, Springfield and Carbondale with additional offices opening soon in Belleville and Rock Island.

esidents of Chicago’s Eighth Ward recently gathered outside the office of their alderman, Michelle Harris, to protest a new senior housing development, the Montclare Senior Residences of Calumet Heights, that she is pushing for at the corner of 94th St. and Stony Island Avenue.

The protesters gathered on the sidewalk in front of Harris’ office, 8539 S. Cottage Grove Ave., with signs that read, ‘We don’t want it’ in reference to the seven-story, 134-unit housing development for seniors.

“We understand that there is a need for housing seniors in the city, but we were told that this was strictly about the ward.

We contend that there is not a need for this in the ward. You can check the senior facilities throughout this ward right now, they have vacancies. Show us the market study and prove that this is needed as [Alderman Harris] has stated. This is about honesty and transparency,” said Marcel Bright, spokesmen for the concerned citizens of the Eighth Ward.

Residents of the Eighth Ward who are in opposition of the project have accused Harris of lacking transparency during the planning of the Montclare Senior Residences of Calumet Heights. They have also accused Harris of avoiding them and denying their invitations to meet and discuss the project.

listen. We have no voice in city council for the Eighth Ward,” said Linda Hudson, who confirmed that she will be running against Harris in the upcoming aldermanic election.

“Everyone is talking about the Obama Library and that particular area of Stony Island would be the gateway. Why would we want a low-income senior housing facility right there?”

A common theme during the protest was that many people believe these 5 acres of vacant land would be better utilized as commercial space for businesses and restaurants, not housing.

“I find it curious that opponents of much-needed, affordable senior living continue to spread misinformation about Montclare Senior Residences of Calumet Heights.

Throughout this transparent process, I and my staff have made clear through press releases, newsletters, at community meetings and on social media that Montclare will be a mix of rental assistance units with market-rate apartments for independent seniors, 62-years-old and above, it is not a low-income senior housing venture and all incomes are welcome,” said Harris in a written statement regarding the protest. “Additionally, the number of floors in the proposed building is in line with a number of other multi-floor residences in the Eighth Ward. As alderman, I will continue to fight to provide for our seniors and, frankly, I question the motivations of any campaign against a direly needed resource for aging residents, who always face a need for good, safe, affordable housing options on the South Side of Chicago,” she added.

Trump’s $60 billion in China tariffs will create more problems than they solve

A

fter spending seven months investigating whether China is engaged in unfair trade practices, the Trump administration announced March 22 that it will impose tariffs on as much as US$60 billion in Chinese imports.

The tariffs are meant to address two problems: intellectual property theft by China and a steep and persistent trade deficit.

As an economist and expert in international trade, I don’t see how the proposed tariffs will resolve either one. In fact, it’s more likely that they will create two new problems by hurting both consumers and businesses.

IP theft and trade deficits The administration formally justified its tariffs by invoking Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows the president to impose tariffs on countries in violation of international trade deals.

In particular, the Trump administration accused China of engaging in intellectual property theft forbidden by World Trade Organization agreements.

Intellectual property theft has been a major complaint of American companies doing business in China for decades.

Sometimes this theft occurs through illicit means, such as industrial espionage. It also occurs through legal channels, such as when U.S. companies are forced to form a joint venture with a Chinese business. In other

cases, technology transfers are a precondition of doing business in China.

Altogether, the U.S. trade representative estimates that these policies cost U.S. businesses around $50 billion a year.

The other problem that has long irked the president is the significant trade deficit. Since the U.S. normalized trade relations with China in 2000, the deficit ballooned from less than $84 billion to over $375 billion in 2017.

This “China shock” of cheap goods has caused considerable disruption in the U.S. economy.

The labor market has been surprisingly slow to adjust, leading affected workers to earn far less money over a lifetime.

THE WRONG SOLUTIONS It remains to be seen, however, whether the tariffs will alleviate either problem.

The administration’s calculation seems to be that China will back down on intellectual property theft if faced with less access to U.S. markets.

But China is less dependent on U.S. trade now than it was a decade ago, making its economy resilient to these sorts of punitive measures. The U.S. accounted for 18.4 percent of Chinese exports in 2016, down from 21 percent in 2006.

The U.S. likely would have better luck resolving this problem at the WTO, which China joined in 2001 and must abide by its rulings. The best part about a WTO ruling is that it would affect all of China’s exports, not just those to the U.S. Similarly, the trade deficit is unlikely to be resolved through higher tariffs. The primary cause of the persistent trade deficit – $566 billion in 2017 – is an imbalance between savings and investment in the U.S. economy.

Help with substance abuse, mental health services and education serve as key factors in reducing recidivism rates

ccording to the Bureau of Prisons, there are 207,847 people incarcerated in federal prisons.

Roughly half (48.6 percent) are in for drug offenses. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, there are 1,358,875 people in state prisons. Of them, 16 percent have a drug crime as their most serious offense.

Moreover, data from a national study in five major American cities indicated that at the time of arrest, 63% to 83% of people had drugs in their system.

Among researchers and policy makers, a general consensus exists which shows in some way, drug use is linked to criminal behavior and recidivism.

But other data, including a 2009 report released by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), highlights the fact that when offenders receive help with substance abuse while in prison and even when they get out, statisticians report www.thechicagocitizen.com

a “substantial reduction” in recidivism rates among returning citizens.

In 2000, an Illinois Probation Outcome Study, which included 3,017 individuals discharged from probation in the state from October 30 through November 30, 2000, reported, drug abuse is also prevalent among probationers in Illinois. In total, 64% of the study sample had a prior history of substance abuse. The study also found that, “probationers with a history of drug abuse were 1.2 times more likely to be arrested in the four years following discharge and 1.3 times more likely to be arrested on a drug-related charge.”

Department of Employment Security (IDES) recently announced that the unemployment rate decreased by -0.1 percentage point to 4.6 percent in March and nonfarm payrolls decreased by -2,100 jobs over-the-month, based on preliminary data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and released by IDES. The February job gain was virtually unchanged from its initial report. (+15,300 jobs versus +15,200 jobs).

Job growth improved in the January to March period posting average monthly gains of +4,000 jobs, an increase over the prior three-month period (October to December 2017) with average monthly gains of +2,200 jobs.

“The number of unemployed in Illinois is at its lowest level since December 2006 and the unemployment rate dipped to its lowest level since March 2007,” said IDES Director Jeff Mays. “The stabilization of the labor force is also an encouraging sign.”

Since 2005, the share of super commuters nationwide increased 15.9 percent, reaching 2.8 percent of all commuters in 2016, an increase many experts attribute to skyrocketing housing costs.

As residents are priced out expensive housing markets, many may endure longer commutes.

Eight of the ten metros with the largest share of super commuters are in regions surrounding three notoriously expensive cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. In a report -- Apartment List dug into Census data on commute times and transit usage to better understand the rise in super commuters.

Here are some highlights from the report: • In 2016, 152,313 Chicago metro workers endured super commutes, comprising 3.5% of all Chicago commuters • The share of Chicago super commuters has decreased -4.1% since 2005 when 3.6% of commuters were super commuters • Super commuters are more likely to rely on public transportation. 83.5% of non-super commuters in the Chicago metro drive to work, compared to 57.2% of super commuters.

• Low-income commuters disproportionately rely on public transportation compared to their higher income peers, irrespective of their commute length.

The industry sectors with the largest over-the-year declines include: Information Services (-4,600); Professional and Business Services (-2,700); and Other Services (-1,200).

Illinois nonfarm payrolls were up +0.6 percent over-the-year in sharp contrast to the nation’s +1.5 percent over-the-year gain in March.

Obama Foundation Announces New Program to Train Emerging Leaders Across Africa CHICAGO – The Obama Foundation today

announced a new addition to its international programs: the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa. This one-year leadership development and civic engagement program will train and support 200 promising young leaders across Africa working in government, civil society, and the private sector. The Foundation received nearly 10,000 applications for 200 slots.

The Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa program will launch in Johannesburg, South Africa with a five-day convening. The convening will run from July 14 through July 18 and include plenary sessions, problemsolving workshops, and technical trainings that will help these young emerging leaders drive positive change throughout Africa. The convening will also include a town hall meeting with President Obama where he will hear about their experiences and the work they’re doing.

Following the South Africa convening, leaders will remain connected to the Foundation and one another via an online platform where they will engage in topical discussions, access leadership and training resources, and participate in trainings and webinars led by experts and industry leaders.

Services at the summit included health screenings and information about mental health and substance abuse. Participants also made important connections with health care providers in the community.

These are “valuable,” resources said Marcus King, senior community outreach administrator for IDOC, who added, Illinois has been holding the summits since 2010–about 12 events per year. Vendor participation was at 100%, King added, and healthcare providers included VNA Health Care, Chicago Behavioral Hospital and Public Health, among others.

Three hundred and fifty parolees were invited to attend, over half showed up and about 80 students from Aurora University’s criminal justice program participated.

While Illinois has 27,000 parolees, according to King, he added the recidivism rate in the

state is 43%, down from 51% five years ago.

Even though the rate is going down, the cost in Illinois for recidivism is still a heavy price to pay. Each instance of recidivism, costs, on the average, approximately $118,746. according to a 2015 report by the Illinois Sentencing Policy Advisory Council, hence, reducing recidivism ends up playing an important role in strengthening both households and the economy.

Besides programs like the Summit of Health, education programs can also be transformative in reducing recidivism rates.

A 2013 federal report affirmed this stating, “on average, inmates who participated in correctional education programs, had 43 percent lower odds of returning to prison than inmates who did not.”

The Bard Prison Initiative or BPI, which has an exceptionally low recidivism rate, is one

example of a program that seems to be working. The college is spread across six interconnected prisons in New York State, enrolls over 300 students and organizes a host of extracurricular activities to replicate the breadth of college life and inquiry.

Yun Qin, a language educator who taught Mandarin through the Bard Prison Initiative in 2012, wrote in the Washington Post, that teaching students who were imprisoned was a lesson for him as well.

“The experience provided me with an education, too,” Qin wrote. “Consumed with grading exams and creating lessons, teachers can lose sight of their goals. But when you see men confined to lives behind bars suddenly inspired by life outside of it, you realize the true impact of your work. With the potential to reduce the prison recidivism rate from 50 percent to four percent, you can’t help but acknowledge the power of education,” he said.

Continued from page 3 late 1970s. At the same time, the government has run persistently large budget deficits, both of which have increased the level of borrowing in the U.S. economy.

As a result, foreign investment, particularly from China, has become increasingly critical to financing U.S. economic growth. This is great news in terms of helping Americans buy cheap Chinese goods and the government finance its budget deficit. But all that foreign cash going into the financial market isn’t being used to buy the stuff Americans are producing, like Harley Davidson motorcycles and Iowa corn.

This results in lower exports and a higher trade deficit. Tariffs will not change this reality.

TWO NEW PROBLEMS While the full details of the tariffs have yet to be released, it’s clear they’ll cause at least two immediate problems.

One is that U.S. consumers will be hurt. The typical consumer has about $260 in extra purchasing power as a result of trade with China. Those benefits, which disproportionately go toward working-class Americans, will fall due to the U.S. tariffs, as American

importers will pass some of their increased costs along to consumers.

Secondly, American companies that export to China will be exposed to retaliation in the form of tariffs on U.S.-made goods. Shortly after Trump’s announcement, China released its own policy statement targeting $3 billion worth of U.S. exports.

Particularly vulnerable to Chinese retaliation are the pork and soybean industries, which are concentrated in the Trump-friendly Midwest. This list could grow if a trade war with China escalates.

A broader concern is that, by acting unilaterally, the Trump administration is undermining the broader system that has facilitated the growth of international trade and adjudicated grievances between countries since World War II. While far from perfect, organizations such as the WTO have limited the scope of trade wars since the chaos of the 1930s. Failing to uphold these institutions could have major consequences in the future.

FORGIVENESS

A

n important discipline for each of us to practice is forgiveness. Forgiveness is vital to our lives and our thinking in order to move forward in our purpose. Once when talking about forgiveness, Oprah Winfrey said, “Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different, it’s accepting the past for what it was, and using this moment and this time to help yourself move forward.” Inner peace can be reached only when we consistently practice forgiveness.

Forgiveness helps us release the emotional ties that sometimes exist when we feel discouraged, heart-broken, disappointed, and hopeless.

The willingness to forgive is often rooted in our ability to work through the process.

According to Jesus, the process of forgiveness requires that we do it repeatedly. This consistent process of repeating helps to shape the nature and tone of our thinking. Thoughts become things, and influences what enters our lives.

Accordingly, thinking is the gateway to emotion and emotion is the gateway to action.

Other people or maybe even adverse circumstances may have been at the root of your pain, however, we are the ones who control whether we allow that pain to go on. Forgiveness of self and others is important because as long as we neglect to forgive we remain tied to that person and the pain the experience represents to us. When you forgive, you not only release the other person or condition, you also set yourself free from all of the agony and you give yourself permission to heal.

You can get beyond the pain if you decide to move on. You do not have to be held captive by what was done to you in the past and you do not have to feel compelled to punish them or get even in order to get better. A writer stated, “Forgiveness wipes the slate clean, so that other things can come in.”

How many times should you forgive? Until you are completely over it!

Registration Now Open for “The Incredible Shrinking Church 2.0: Where Are the Millennials?” Colloquium R egistration is now open for “The Incredible Shrinking Church 2.0: Where Are the Millennials?,” the annual Spring Colloquium of the Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary (JCTS), taking place May 17-19, 2018 at the Universal Truth Center for Better Living, located at 21310 NW 37th Avenue Miami Gardens, FL 33056.

“We have an exciting program every year,” says the Reverend Dr. Anna Price, the Seminary’s Provost and the host of the colloquium. “This year we have both a compelling and timely topic with an exceptional panel of presenters and panelists.*” The Rev. Dr. Sheila McKeithen, the President of the Universal Foundation for Better Living, Inc. (UFBL) and the JCTS, will open the Colloquium on Thursday, May 17, with a special welcome to all attendees. Following Dr. Price will be a video presentation by Mitchell Walthour Jr., a filmmaker-activist and a co-coordinator of this year’s event. “My presentation is a fusion of current research regarding my generation – Millennials – which I’m sure is going to ruffle some feathers,” the 29-year-old laughs. “I will use data to shine a light on who my generation is and what we’re experiencing socially and economically. I will also go a step further to link those social and economic failures to the church. I also don’t shy away from the racial element either.”

Mr. Walthour’s video will be followed by a new friend to the UFBL and the evening’s keynote, the Rev. J. Edwin

Bacon, author of “8 Habits of Love” and a national voice on Oneness of all, Faith, and Justice. Recently named a Soul Teacher on Oprah’s “SuperSoul 100” list of awakened leaders by Ms. Winfrey herself, Rev. Bacon will present on the following topic, “It’s The End Of the Church As We Know It and I Feel Fine.”

Following Rev. Bacon’s address, we will hear again from Dr. McKeithen, as she introduces a clip from a focus group she moderated with a the youth in Kingston, Jamaica, as they discussed their views on the church. After the showing of the clip, Dr. McKeithen will end the evening with her key findings and concluding remarks.

Friday, May 18, the Seminary welcomes the Rev. Dr. Joshua Mitchell, the Minister of Youth and College Students at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, and author of the newly released book, “Black Millennials and the Church: Meet Me Where I Am.” “Not only has he produced original research on this subject, but Dr. Mitchell has experience with college-aged members at his church, which is vital to discuss, as churches often lose their youth when they head off to college,” says Dr. Price. Dr. Mitchell will present remotely.

Friday evening continues with Dr. Joan Muir, a licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Executive Director of the Brief Strategic Family Therapy® Institute at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. Dr. Muir will offer the psychology of Millennials, giving us an academic glimpse into the lives and minds of the current generation.

The Seminary is also honored to have with the “Ex-Pastor,” Kevin Wesley,

who will close the evening. Wesley, a Millennial himself, went viral on Facebook two years ago for his public denunciation of his Christian faith.

Wesley will participate remotely and will share his perspective as an ex-clergyman who is now part of the growing spiritualconscious movement to awaken individuals from the spell of religion.

Saturday’s, May 19, program leads off with Michelle Hollinger, a filmmaker, author, and publisher of The Sisterhood; and Tawnicia Ferguson-Rowan, a Faculty Member at both the JCTS and Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens.

Both presenters, fellow Truth Students, will explore this theme in the context of New Thought, offering unique and individual perspectives.

After Rowan’s presentation, all live presenters will be joined by Millennials for a panel discussion to review key points taken from the forum and answer final questions from attendees.

Afterward, participants will come together in break out groups and report to everyone their response to “Where do we go from here?”

The Colloquium is open to the public, and participants may attend live or online. Admission is $30.00 while Admission and a Recording are $50.00. The first night is free to the public and will be live-streamed for free on the UFBL’s Facebook page.

Obituary

Keith Scott Chalmers was born May 19,1981 in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of Keith and Shelia Chalmers. He was affectionately called Scott and was the second child to this union.

Scott attended elementary school in Matteson School District 162 and Rich Central High School District 227. Scott attended Moraine Valley and Kishwaukee Community College. From his studies he received numerous accreditations for PC computer technician. Scott entered the work force at Fox Valley Internet, the Edward Don & Company. Scott created his own company, NewStar Networks-this was his passion. He was a great asset to his community, providing his customers with internet service and building long lasting relationships. Scott was baptized at an early age at New Birth of Love Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, Illinois.

Scott came into this world a fighter. He was a "Cuddle-baby", loved hugs and snuggle time. Scott was so smart. We would say a genius! He began reading at three years old; writing his own mini-adventure books at the age of five, with titles like, "The Herculoid Christmas!" At a young age, he would dismantle many of his sister's electronic devices- some of which would actually work when he put them back together. He was outspoken and would engage you in a debate on numerous topics. The challenge was real! He spoke his mind and was always ready to offer you his opinion, especially with regards to political events.

He loved computers, music, Starcraft, computer games; new and old, his parents, siblings, friends, family and his fur-babies.

Scott was an amazing uncle. He cherished his nieces and nephew and was a bid kid with all kids.

Scott preserved through his various health adversities; diabetes, 6 strokes, kidney failure, kidney transplant, aches and pains.

He was determined not to be labeled disabled. Even with the limitations to his mobility, he pushed through. Everyone who knew Scott, knew about his trains and his accomplishment of constructing a complex system of tracks on the ceiling of his living room. It was tremendous sight!

He would bring his self-proclaimed world famous monkey bread to many family functions. All of these characteristics are just a snapshot of Scott. His smile was infectious, his brilliance was intriguing, and his hugs are forever heart-warming.

Selfexecuting Contract/Security Agreement in Event of Unauthorized Use: By this Copyright Notice, both the juristic person and the agent of said juristic person, hereinafter jointly and severally "User," consent and agree that any use of STEPHEN OLIVER COBB® other than authorized use as set forth above constitutes unauthorized use, counterfeiting, of Secured Party's common-law copyrighted property, contractually binds User, renders this Copyright Notice a Security Agreement wherein User is debtor and Stephen Oliver Cobb ® is Secured Party, and signifies that User: (1) grants Secured Party a security interest in all of User's assets, land, and personal property, and all of User's interest in assets, land, and personal property, in the sum certain amount of $500,000.00 per each occurrence of use of the common-law-copyrighted tradename/trade-mark STEPHEN OLIVER COBB®, as well as for each and every occurrence of use of any and all derivatives of, and variations in the spelling of, STEPHEN OLIVER COBB®, plus costs, plus triple damages; (2) authenticates this Security Agreement wherein User is debtor and Stephen Oliver Cobb ® is Secured Party, and wherein User pledges all of User's assets, land, consumer goods, farm products, inventory, equipment, money, investment property, commercial tort claims, letters of credit, letter-of-credit rights, chattel paper, instruments, deposit accounts, accounts, documents, and general intangibles, and all User's interest in all such foregoing property, now owned and hereafter acquired, now existing and hereafter arising, and wherever located, as collateral for securing User's contractual obligation in favor of Secured Party for User's unauthorized use of Secured Party's common-law-copyrighted property; (3) consents and agrees with Secured Party's filing of a UCC Financing Statement in the UCC filing office, as well as in any county recorder's office, wherein User is debtor and Stephen Oliver Cobb ® is Secured Party; (4) consents and agrees that said UCC Financing Statement described above in paragraph

"(3)'' is a continuing financing statement, and further consents and agrees with Secured Party's filing of any continuation statement necessary for maintaining Secured Party's perfected security interest in all of User's property and interest in property, pledged as collateral in this Security Agreement and described above in paragraph "(2)," until User's contractual obligation theretofore incurred has been fully satisfied; (5) consents and agrees with Secured Party's filing of any UCC Financing Statement, as described above in paragraphs "(3)" and "(4)," as well as the filing of any Security Agreement, as described above in paragraph "(2),'' in the UCC filing office, as well as in any county recorder's office; (6) consents and agrees that any and all such filings described in paragraphs "(4)" and "(5)" above are not, and may not be considered, bogus, and that User will not claim that any such filing is bogus; (7) waives all defenses; and (8) appoints Secured Party as Authorized Representative for User, effective upon User's default re User's contractual obligations in favor of Secured Party as set forth below under "Payment Terms" and "Default Terms," granting Secured Party full authorization and power for engaging in any and all actions on behalf of User including, but not limited by, authentication of a record on behalf of User, as Secured Party, in Secured Party's sole discretion, deems appropriate, and User further consents and agrees that this appointment of Secured Party as Authorized Representative for User, effective upon User's default, is irrevocable and coupled with a security interest. User further consents and agrees with all of the following additional terms of Self-executing Contract/Security Agreement in Event of Unauthorized Use: Payment Terms: In accordance with fees for unauthorized use of STEPHEN OLIVER COBB® as set forth above, User hereby consents and agrees that User shall pay Secured Party all unauthorized-use fees in full within ten (10) days of the date User is sent Secured Party's invoice, hereinafter "Invoice," itemizing said fees. Default Terms: In event of non-payment in full of all unauthorizeduse fees by User within ten (10) days of date Invoice is sent, User shall be deemed in default and: (a) all of User's property and property pledged as collateral by User, as set forth in above in paragraph "(2)," immediately becomes, i.e. is, property of Secured Party; (b) Secured Party is appointed User's Authorized Representative as set forth above in paragraph "(8)"; and (c) User consents and agrees that Secured Party may take possession of, as well as otherwise dispose of in any manner that Secured Party, in Secured Party's sole discretion, deems appropriate, including, but not limited by, sale at auction, at any time following User's default, and without further notice, any and all of User's property and interest, described above in paragraph "(2)," formerly pledged as collateral by User, now property of Secured Party, in respect of this "Self-executing Contract/Security Agreement in Event of Unauthorized Use," that Secured Party, again in Secured Party's sole discretion, deems appropriate. Terms for Curing Default: Upon event of default, as set forth above under "Default Terms," irrespective of any and all of User's former property and interest in property, described above in paragraph "(2)," in the possession of, as well as disposed of by, Secured Party, as authorized above under "Default Terms," User may cure User's default only re the remainder of User's said former property and interest property, formerly pledged as collateral that is neither in the possession of, nor otherwise disposed of by, Secured Party within twenty (20) days of date of User's default only by payment in full. Terms of Strict Foreclosure: User's non-payment in full of all unauthorized-use fees itemized in Invoice within said twenty- (20) day period for curing default as set forth above under "Terms for Curing Default" authorizes Secured Party's immediate non-judicial strict foreclosure on any and all remaining former property and interest in property, formerly pledged as collateral by User, now property of Secured Party, which is not in the possession of, nor otherwise disposed of by, Secured Party upon expiration of said twenty- (20) day default-curing period.
