Chevron Green Services Bulletin April Edition

Welcome note

Message from John

Hello and welcome to your April Bulletin.

I’m absolutely delighted to share that CGS has been awarded a RoSPA Gold Award! The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards are internationally respected, setting the standard for excellence and celebrating those who put the wellbeing of their teams and communities first.

This is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of the passion, hard work, and dedication shown by every single one of you. Your commitment to living and breathing our safety values every day has made this possible, thank you and congratulations!

A huge well done also to Phil Last, Dan Taylor, and Tabbi Smith for doing such a fantastic job of capturing our safety culture and delivering a winning submission.

In new business news, congratulations to our Consultancy team who have won an Arb tender for Newport City Council. Well done to Martin, Carol, the Arb team and Ewen in our Bids team for their hard work in submitting a winning tender.

This month has felt very much like a return to business as usual. After a bit of a pause back in February, things are beginning to gather momentum again.

In the East, work with Ringway has restarted, and in the Southwest, our Ash dieback teams are back out, working hard through the night for National Highways. While Colas isn’t quite back to full pace just yet, we’re continuing to apply professional pressure, and have some tree work lined up for May. We’re feeling confident the rest will follow soon. All of this means we should be prepared for a busier-than-usual May, June, and July.

Over the past few months, Kayla and I have been reaching out to our clients for feedback. The overall response has been really positive, our work continues to be seen as exceptional with you, our people receiving praise for engagement on-site. That said, there are a couple of areas where we can improve.

The first one is around community involvement. Doing a great job is so important, but the perception is that we don’t always get involved in wider community initiatives. Joining in with social value events run by National Highways or their clients is a brilliant way to engage. Don’t forget, we all have volunteering days we can use, and getting involved in these helps to strengthen our reputation across the industry.

For those of you in a client-facing role, working on how we can nourish those relationships to really make our clients feel special and part of the CGS family. We talk in our marketing about having a customerfirst approach. Really knowing our clients and building a relationship built on integrity and honest, open conversations will support this way of working.

Earlier this month, we also welcomed Shaun from the Ramudden Global UK Quality team, who audited our Presteigne site. I’m pleased to share that we passed with flying colours and just a couple of minor actions to be easily addressed. A big well done to Tabbi and Lynne for their brilliant work.

And finally, a reminder that we’ve launched our Champion of the Quarter initiative, an opportunity to recognise the exceptional efforts of your teammates. We’ve already received some lovely nominations. Judging the entries will be our panel of: Adam Sayers, Contract Manager, Curdridge; Andrea Evans, Principal Ecologist, Consultancy; and Tabbi Smith, Office Manager, Presteigne. Our winner will receive a £100 voucher prize and well-deserved recognition. Nominate your teammates via the Champion of the Quarter form on Re-flow. Good luck!

Thanks for all the hard work, and stay safe,

Above & Beyond Awards Nominations

Last chance to nominate this round! Time’s running out to shine a light on someone who’s gone Above and Beyond. Whether they’ve stepped up in a tough moment, made a real difference to the team, or consistently gone the extra mile, now’s your chance to say thank you.

Nominations close on 30th April, so don’t miss out!

SLT Insights: keeping you in the loop

Consultancy

Spring has started and finally we have some sun to cheer everyone up! Our Arb team has won a new tender for Newport City Council. Thank you to Carol and her team with Ewen’s support for their hard work on the tender.

Consultancy has again been extremely busy: closing down 24/25 schemes, starting up 25/26 schemes and getting ready for the beginning of the survey season. We already have a number of varied surveys booked in including bats, Great Crested Newts, badgers and dormouse, which means we’re pretty much maxed out in resources until the end of August.

March again was an extra busy month resulting in a financial record breaking Q1, with the last 3 months being, like for like, the highest turnovers in each month. Well done to all the CGC team and the additional effort you’re putting in. No news on any new starters yet but fingers are crossed we’ll have some new faces joining us soon. Well done all, keep up the great work.

Head Office & Commercial

Well, the good weather has arrived, long may it continue! A warm welcome to Wendy Curtis who is Sue’s replacement. Wendy started with us on the 1st April and is shadowing Sue for three days per week until the end of June when Sue goes off on her adventures - (she’s not counting down her days ... much!) Wendy has a wide experience in accounts, reconciliations, data migration and payroll and will be an important part of the Accounts Team. Mel is increasing her days to four from the 1st May, and will be taking on all payroll duties as well as her current role.

From the desk of the COO: Chris Adams

Hello CGS team.

A huge congratulations to everyone at CGS on achieving our first RoSPA Gold Award! A special well done to Phil Last, Dan Taylor, and Tabbi Smith for all their hard work on the submission. This is a fantastic recognition of the standards we set and live by every day. Thank you to everyone across CGS for your ongoing commitment to our safety values. This award is for you!

Bringing everyone home safely every day, remains at the heart of our company. Our Health and Safety Climate Survey plays a vital role in helping us strengthen our safety culture across the business. If you haven’t yet had a chance to complete it, you can do so here: Health and Safety Survey 2025.

It’s encouraging to see the momentum returning with some of our clients. The pause in work from Colas and Ringway back in February did impact our results, but it great to see Ringway back up and running, and Colas tentatively restarting, with some tree works already booked in for May.

Since January, John and Kayla have been meeting with our clients to better understand how they see us, what we’re doing well and where we can improve. These conversations have been a real gift. The feedback shows that while the quality of our work is exceptional, we can sometimes be a little too focused on delivery, so much so that we don’t always share the great things we’re doing.

Innovation runs throughout the Ramudden Global UK group, and CGS is no exception. There are fantastic ideas and ways of working happening here, but we need to get better at telling people about them! If you’re doing something innovative or worth celebrating, reach out to John, Dan, Martin or Lynne. Becky our CGS Marketing Lead can also help spread the word through case studies and social posts – she’d love to hear what you’re up to.

As I said to CTM last week and it holds true for CGS too - 2025 has been a year of change, but also one of real progress. That’s down to your hard work, resilience and adaptability. Together we’re building something we can all be proud of.

With best wishes and stay safe,

Ramudden Global UK

Champion of the Quater reminder

Earlier this month, John launched our Champion of the Quarter initiative. A brand-new way to recognise the brilliant people who make CGS such a fantastic place to work.

We’ve launched this award to celebrate and recognise the amazing people we have working at CGS.

This is your chance to shine a light on a colleague who’s done something exceptional – someone who’s made a real difference, taken the initiative, shown outstanding teamwork, supported others, or just brought their A-game in a way that deserves a shoutout.

You can get involved by nominating a colleague who’s inspired or impressed you via the Champion of the Quarter nomination form on Reflow.

Our judges: Tabbi, Adam and Andrea, will choose a winner each quarter and we’ll announce it in the bulletin. Not only that but our winner will receive £100 in vouchers.

CGS is full of amazing people. We love celebrating the passion, commitment and creativity that makes this business special.

Nominations close on Monday 30th June.

Thanks for helping us recognise the everyday heroes among us.

Group Business Rebrand

This month, our parent company Chevron Group became Ramudden Global UK.

It’s an important rebrand as it brings us in line with our global owners Ramudden Global and ensures consistency with the other regions across the world.

The name change doesn’t affect our individual businesses, so we remain as Chevron Green Services.

You might have already seen some changes, with our group policies having been rebranded and email addresses from support functions being updated.

If you have any questions about the rebrand, please email the Marketing team at: brand@RamuddenGlobalUK.com

Our monthly photo competition

We’ve had some lovely entries this month - thank you! We love seeing your photos from out and about whilst you go about your work.

Our winning image for the April Bulletin comes from our Contract Supervisor from Crowborough:

Mark Wratten

Mark’s photo of the sunrise highlights the beauty of nature and the amazing places we find ourselves working in.

A special mention also goes to Mel Roberts from Presteigne, who shared a photo of her horse Glory above Presteigne during sunrise. And Lottie Green from Consultancy, who found a little dormouse hiding in a tube on the railway.

Submissions are now being taken for the May bulletin.

Please send us photos of your work on site, a job well done, the amazing landscapes you work in, or your wonderful colleagues.

Please bear in mind safety when taking your photos, both safety for yourself as the photographer and the safety of your teammates too.

If you’d like to submit a photo for the May bulletin, the easiest way to submit is via the All CGS staff WhatsApp Group. Plus you get the added bonus of seeing all the submissions!

You can join the group with this link. Alternatively, email Becky with your number and she’ll add you directly or if you’d prefer to email Becky your entry: Becky.WainewrightSmith@RamuddenGlobalUK.com
