Pies for Pi Day

Pi Day probably isn’t on your Google calendar. But if there’s ever a time to celebrate a math holiday, this is it. Pi Day is March 14, or 3.14, the number representing pi, aka the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Even if you scarcely remember the symbol from 8th grade geometry, the best part about Pi Day is there’s an obvious way to celebrate: pie.

NUTELLA CHEESECAKE

Ingredients

• 1 graham cracker crust

• 13-ounce container Nutella

• 1 pound room-temperature cream cheese

• ½ cup confectioner’s sugar

Directions

1. Beat cream cheese and confectioner’s sugar till smooth. Add Nutella and continue mixing until well mixed. 2. Spoon mixture into the pie crust and refrigerate for 4 hours. Serve chilled.

SWEDISH APPLE PIE

Ingredients

• 5–6 apples, peeled and sliced (any will do, but a mix of red baking apples and granny smith work well)

• 1 cup + 1 Tbsp. sugar

• 1 tsp cinnamon

• 1 cup flour

• 1 egg

Directions

1. Fill pie plate 2 /3 full with peeled, sliced apples

2. Sprinkle apples with 1 tsp. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon

3. In a small bowl, combine ¾ cup melted butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 egg and a pinch of salt. 4. Spoon over apples 5. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until golden.

SWEDISH APPLE PIE EASY CHOCOLATE TRIPLE LAYER PIE

Ingredients

• 2 cups milk

• 2 packages instant chocolate

pudding mix• 1 graham cracker crust

• 1 8-ounce container whipped

topping• ½ cup chocolate shavings

1. Whisk together milk and
