A short film documenting the haunting sounds of an ice installation made and installed in the Antarctic by Julian Brooke-Evans, grandson of Teddy Evans, second-in-command to British explorer Robert Falcon Scott, to mark the centenary of their ill-fated expedition to conquer the South Pole.

In 2013, artist Michal Iwanowski retraced the journey his grandfather and great uncle had made and mapped in 1944, following their escape from a Russian prisoner of war camp. They followed a simple rule; stay clear of people, in order to survive. His series of expansive, photographic landscapes documents the harsh environment of North Eastern Europe which is once again a site of conflict.

From the thick velvety line of drypoint and the heavy cross-hatching of etching, to delicate wood engraving and boldly coloured screen prints and lithographs, this Arts Council Collection exhibition explores how artists have used a variety of printmaking techniques to exploit the potential of the printed line since the beginning of the 20th century. With early works by Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, to mid-century with Bridget Riley and David Hockey, to the present day including Rachel Whiteread’s LOndOn 2012 in which she reinterprets the Olympic rings.

Exhibition: Zeros and Ones

Zeros and Ones is a creative exploration of codes, patterns and data visualisation told by objects from The Wilson collection, GCHQ and contemporary artworks. From hieroglyphics to the enigma machine, digital visualisation to data detectives, Zeros and Ones explores how humans make, break and analyse codes as a way of understanding and attempting to exert control over the world around us.
The new exhibition has been voted for by visitors. Cheltenham Through The Lens features photographs of Cheltenham, its people and festivities, by local people.
