Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra New Year Strauss Gala

Saturday 7 January 2023, 7.30pm

Festive favourite the New Year Strauss Gala returns once more, recreating the atmosphere in Vienna’s famous Musikverein. Celebrate the arrival of 2023 with a sparkling collection of waltzes, marches and arias, including Merry Wives of Windsor Overture, Tik-Tak Polka and, of course, the Radetzky March and The Blue Danube.

One Night of Elvis starring Lee Memphis King

Friday 13 January 2023, 7.30pm

Widely considered to be one of Europe’s most successful Elvis Presley tribute artists, Lee Memphis King has been touring his One Night of Elvis production since 2007 and has headlined and sold out some of the most prestigious venues across the UK and Europe. This production celebrates Elvis Presley at his peak during the iconic Vegas years between 1969 and 1977. The show also boasts authentic costumes and a live orchestra.

Immerse yourself in this ultimate ‘forbidden’ night out with two hours of action, seductive choreography and circus acrobatics. A talented cast of acrobats, male vocalists, fire acts, and aerial artists - renowned circus performers flip and spin across the stage in this high-octane show.

Lucy Porter: Wake Up Call

Friday 27 January 2023, 8pm, Pillar Room

An exuberantly silly show peppered with wisdom, Wake-Up Call is a show about revelations, realisations and epiphanies – both large and small. Subjects covered include bin collection schedules, the novels of Jean Rhys, cats, school fair booze tombolas and the Scottish Enlightenment.

Tubular Bells Live: The 50th Anniversary Tour

Saturday 28 January 2023, 7.30pm

Internationally renowned Tubular Bells maestro Phil Toms and his 12-piece orchestra perform note for note music from the legendary 1973 album which launched Virgin records. Additional highlights of this tribute include Moonlight Shadow, To France, Guilty and selections from Mike Oldfield’s instrumental albums.

Shania 25 Live: Come on Over

Armenian State Symphony Orchestra

Tuesday 21 February 2023, 7.30pm

In its first visit to the town hall, the ASSO’s programme includes Khachaturian’s music to the ballet Spartacus, with its achingly beautiful second movement, famous as the theme tune to TV’s The Onedin Line. Also on the bill is Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony, with conductor, Sergey Smbatyan and solo violinist Chloe Hanslip.

Northern Live

Fans of Northern Soul won’t want to miss this tribute to the unique underground movement that began on the dancefloors of the north and swept the nation. The show includes an 11-piece band with four lead vocalists performing more than 30 original hits, including songs by artists Dobie Gray, Gloria Jones, Al Wilson and Yvonne Baker.

The ELO Experience

Cheltenham Swing dance festival

English Symphony Orchestra

Sunday 16 April 2023, 2.30pm

Grieg’s only piano concerto famous for its opening drumroll, poetic second movement and, of course, Morecambe and Wise’s Andre Previn sketch, forms the centrepiece of this concert, with Japanese pianist Noriko Ogawa making her debut town hall appearance. Also on the programme are Brahms’ turbulent 1888 Overture, and Sibelius’s Fifth masterpiece.

America’s original purveyor of urban cool cultural satirist and author Fran Lebowitz is known for her hilariously dry social commentary on American life. Exhibition: Clear of People

In 2013, artist Michal Iwanowski retraced the journey his grandfather and great uncle had made and mapped in 1944, following their escape from a Russian prisoner of war camp. They followed a simple rule; stay clear of people, in order to survive. Made in a day: Embroidery and Embellishments

In this workshop, designer Milligan Beaumont, who has her own label, introduces her individual style of building up stitches and 3D embellishing for clothing.

Exhibition: The Printed Line

18 February to 14 May 2023

From the thick velvety line of drypoint and the heavy cross-hatching of etching, to delicate wood engraving and boldly coloured screen prints and lithographs, this Arts Council Collection exhibition explores how artists have used a variety of printmaking techniques to exploit the potential of the printed line since the beginning of the 20th century. With early works by Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, to mid-century with Bridget Riley and David Hockey, to the present day including Rachel Whiteread’s LOndOn 2012 in which she reinterprets the Olympic rings.

There is a transaction fee of £1.50 per booking when buying online or over the phone. Some events listed in this brochure with a bold title may be subject to a £2 ticket commission fee included in the price of the ticket.

Tickets cannot be collected in person on the day of an event, but can be booked online as etickets/ print at home. Show times listed are start times. Please arrive in advance of stated time.

We accept most major credit and debit cards only.

Concessions

Available for selected events – please check with customer services at the time of booking. Concessions are subject to availability and proof of eligibility will be required. Only one concession/offer may apply per ticket.

Parking

There is a Pay and Display car park at Pittville Pump Room and there are several public car parks within walking distance of Cheltenham Town Hall.

Disabled bookings

If you are disabled and/or require a carer to accompany you to an event, please advise customer services at the time of booking. Concessions are available at some events to disabled customers, and complimentary tickets for personal assistants. If you need help with transport or parking, please tell us – if we cannot help, we may be able to put you in touch with someone who can.
