YACHTS: THE IMPOSSIBLE COLLECTION

Showcasing the world’s “most grand and luxurious ocean vessels worthy of praise” comes Yachts: The Impossible Collection, whose publishers tells us includes everything “from original J-Class yachts of the late 1800s”. History lesson aside, it looks like a lavish tome. Text by Miriam Cain, Featuring photography by Guillaume Plisson £695

DARTMOUTH GIN

Produced by the owner of the Cockwells-built pilot cutter Merlin, Dartmouth Gin was named Craft Gin of the Year 2018 and is distilled in Dartmouth, Devon, “very slowly” to produce a remarkably smooth, full-flavoured spirit that ensured our recent pontoon party at British Classic Week went with a bang. It comes in a handsome bottle, carved to depict a replica of the wrought-ironwork on St Saviour’s Church door in Darmouth, showing the two leopards of Edward 1 and the tree of life. US readers might note that alcohol is now more easily sendable by post, after the UK left the EU. £38

WUZZOS GILET MADE FROM PLASTIC BOTTLES

New brand Wuzzos has made its mark with deck shoes and is now expanding with polo shirts and these soft shell gilets, each one manufactured from 12 discarded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles. The bottles are cleaned, crushed, chipped, melted and then extruded into thread which is spun into yarn for knitting. The zips are also made from recycled plastic. There is an inner microfleece fabric layer, which is also 100% recycled polyester, providing warmth. The outer has a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating. The cut is slightly longer than some gilets, with a smarter look overall. £50
