Shopping, restaurants, culture, views and even beaches…Sydney has it all! Perhaps begin by exploring the harbour, with its famous landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Both are architectural moments of genius but it is the former that is a must to go and see. One of our most popular Sydney excursions is the tour of the famous Opera House. Working with rich, new audio-visual components, where images are projected onto the fabric of the building itself, your guide will take you on an emotional journey that rivals any opera plot with its dramatic twists and turns. Some 1,500 performances, from opera to circus, rock and cabaret, are staged at the Sydney Opera House each year, to audiences of around 1.5 million people.
Unless you are specifically seeking out friends in the outlying areas of Sydney or visiting the beaches, you will have no real need to travel too far away from the central city area and the harbour. Most Sydney tourist attractions are either within the central business district, close to the CBD, or at points around the harbour. The exceptions are Bondi and Manly surf beach suburbs situated south and north of Sydney Heads. Taking a City Circle train, the Monorail or walking is the best way of seeing city attractions, while buses and ferries represent the best way to visit points and attractions around the harbour. Try the City Sightseeing Hop-On-Hop-Off bus service which represents an ideal and inexpensive way to see most of the main tourist points around the city and out to Bondi. Sydney Ferries, which are also government run, provide an inexpensive way of seeing the most beautiful harbour in the world as well a route to Manly Beach.
WHERE TO STAY
Sydney, like all major cities, has accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. The main area that you will want to stay in is Darling Harbour. All Jetline Cruise holidays include a minimum of four-star hotels situated in this area or a short distance away. This will give you the chance to be close to where all the action is whilst giving you stunning views of the Sydney Opera house and of the water. From here you can walk to the Central Business District (CBD), the best shopping malls that Sydney has to offer and all the best restaurants and bars.

Then take a ferry ride across the harbour to Manly Beach, where you’ll experience more fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House along the way. Manly is a world famous Australian landmark and is one of the most renowned beaches for surfing. The beach was named by Capt. Arthur Phillip after the indigenous people living there writing: “Their confidence and manly behaviour made me give the name of Manly Cove to this place”. Build up your appetite in the surf and then enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner in one of Manly’s many restaurants and cafés.

Day 19 & 20 - Lima, Peru: Transfer to Santiago airport for your flight to Lima, Peru. Transfer to the four-star Sol de Oro Hotel (bed- and-breakfast) for 2 nights hotel stay. Enjoy a famous Welsh “tea” in the village of Gaiman or journey back in time 300 million years at the Palaeontology Museum in Trelew.
Day 21 - Cusco, Peru: Transfer to Lima Airport and fly to Cusco. Your Cusco city tour includes temples, cathedrals, fortresses and amphitheatres. Overnight stay at the Sonesta Cusco four-star hotel (bed-and-breakfast).
Day 10 – At Sea. Day 11 – Drake Passage - Cape Horn, Chile: This 500 mile wide passage between Cape Horn and Livingston Island is the shortest crossing from Antarctica to the rest of the world’s land. It was named after Sir Francis Drake when his ship, having passed through the Strait of Magellan, was blown far South in September 1578.
Day 22 - Sacred valley: Tour to the Pisaq market in the Sacred Valley and perhaps sample some ‘empanadas’ baked in traditional clay ovens (lunch included). Enjoy an afternoon visit to the fortress of Ollanta for the Temple of the Sun and the Terrace of the Ten Niches.
Day 12 – Beagle Channel & Ushuaia Argentina. The Beagle Channel is 150 mile long channel and takes you through the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago of islands at the southern tip of South America. This was named after Charles Darwins ship the Beagle.
Overnight stay at the Sonesta Posadas del Inca four-star hotel (bed-and-breakfast). Day 23 - Machu Picchu: Transfer from your hotel to Ollanta train station. The train ride takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas up to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival a small coach takes you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel. Enjoy a 2.5 hour guided tour of one of the seven new wonders of the world. Return to Cusco.
Day 13 - Punta Arenas, Chile. Venture to the high scarps of Torres del Paine National Park, the penguin colony at Seno Otway, or the Martian volcanic topography of Pali Aike National Park. Day 14 – Straits of Magellan: The Northernmost passage through the tip of South America which takes you past Punta Arenas in Chile and was explored by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520. It is 350 miles long and just 1.2 miles wide at it narrowest point.
