Living a passionate life means pursuing the things that truly matter to you and bringing purpose and meaning to your existence. It involves identifying your core values, interests, and strengths, and aligning them with your goals and actions.

Passion is one of the Company’s core values. We aim to create goals that will give us a sense of purpose and direction. Living a passionate life may require stepping outside our comfort zone and taking risks, but the rewards can be immense.

This issue of Chelsea Connect highlights events and milestones that prove the strength and authenticity of our passion. There are also feature articles that will help us discover more about our passion and create a life that is fulfilling, meaningful, and truly our own.

Chelsea group joins SINULOG FESTIVAL PARADE

17 January 2023 - We thank our team members from Starlite Ferries, Trans-Asia, and SuperCat for actively participating in Sinulog Festival 2023. It is our first time to have a unified parade float, promoting the synergy of our three shipping lines and the beautiful tourist destinations in the routes that we serve.

Supercat and Starlite Ferries join TRAVEL EXPO 2023

3-5 February 2023 - SuperCat and Starlite Ferries participated in the 30th PTAA Travel Tour Expo at SMX Convention Center Manila. The fair set up booths with fun games, exciting offers, and discounts on travel tickets and accommodations. Starlite Ferries offered big discounts beginning at PhP 999, a one-way passenger promo.

The Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) is the largest travel agency association in the Philippines that promotes members’ welfare and unity in the travel industry. Travel-related products and over 100 brands attended the expo to promote their services to the public.

VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION

14 February 2023 - Chelsea Logistics celebrated Valentine’s Day with love and fun activities. Team members were encouraged to wear themedcolored shirts for fun: yellow means “looking for love”, green for “moving on”, red means “being in a relationship”, black/gray for “being single since birth”, and brown is “friend zone”.

It was a fun-filled Heart’s Day as everyone quickly showed their brightest smiles at the photo booth. Sweet treats were given to all employees while special jars of candies to the winners of the game: Guess the number of candies inside the jar.

On the logistics front, Worklink Services organized a “Match Your Heart Activity” wherein employees will find their matching hearts and will exchange their prepared “gift (something sweet) to their partner. A simple snack was also shared in all warehouses and branches. This activity was also made available for the branches/warehouses through Zoom.

Starlite Ferries honors TRAVEL AGENT PARNTERS

10 February 2023 - Starlite Ferries organized an awarding and recognition event for its 247 local and international partner travel agents via Zoom. The event aims to honor and thank travel agents for their untiring support to Starlite’s mission: TO SHIP. TO SAIL. TO SERVE.

For the year 2022, the total revenue contribution of our travel agent partners amounted to P105 Million, up by 208% year-on-year. This is 5% of Starlite’s total revenue for the year.

CHELSEA CLASSROOM: Proficiency through cores values

9-10 February 2023 – A learning session on Management Leadership was conducted in Cebu City by Chelsea Shipping HR and Admin Manager, Ms. Sherlyn R. Guerzon. The lessons were divided into two sections: (1) Understanding the Role and Functions of the Supervisor and (2) Learning Supervisory Skills; Management Principles and Four Basic Functions: Leading, Controlling/Motivation along with Coaching and Counseling.

The supervisory training aims to strengthen the manager’s core values and enhance their leadership and communication skills, which can help them develop future team leaders while fostering a positive work environment. A total of 28 participants joined the in-house training session.

STARLITE FERRIES LAUNCHES TWO NEW ROUTES:

Batangas-San Agustin, Romblon (vv) and Cebu-Dapitan (vv)

Starlite Ferries, launched two new routes: Batangas to San Agustin, Romblon (vice versa) and Cebu to Dapitan (vice versa) on 14 February and 17 February 2023 respectively. This brings a total of 15 Starlite Ferries routes nationwide.

According to Starlite Ferries General Manager Shane Arante, the Company chose Dapitan and San Agustin, Romblon as new routes because of their remarkable tourist attractions, offering a countryside experience with beautiful islands and beaches.

Employees sign up for PAG-IBIG

17 February 2023 - Chelsea Logistics and Pag-IBIG personnel assisted Chelsea Connectors to sign up and/or renew their Pag-IBIG Loyalty Cards. A total of 79 employees who registered received their card on the same day.

The Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus beneficiary can take advantage of exclusive discounts and points for groceries, tuition, hospital bills, fuel costs, restaurant bills, and more from 300 partner establishments nationwide. Also, it can be used as cash cards to conveniently receive loan proceeds, savings, and other benefits that can aid the beneficiary in making long-term plans.

Worklink Celebrates 24th ANNIVERSARY

17 February 2023 – Worklink’s 24th anniversary celebration commenced with an anniversary mass officiated by Fr. Arnel Calata Jr. The program proper was headed by Mr. Raul Artadi (OIC/AVP for Sales and Marketing) and Ms. Kit Burayag (Operations Group Head). A trivia game was played about the things related to WSI. This was followed by cascading of plans and programs per Business Unit. Simple snacks were shared in all warehouses/branches.

Lim bared that Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp. owned by Davao-based business tycoon Dennis Uy has been asked to revise its proposal on the modernization of the Davao International Airport.

Lim said the Department of Transportation returned the unsolicited proposal of Chelsea for the Davao

International Airport Development Project to enable the company to comply with the revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 6957, as amended by RA 7718, also known as the Build-OperateTransfer (BOT) Law.

PPA to implement e-ticketing this year

Container prices plunge due to slow demand, global inflation

HOW TO TURN YOUR PASSION INTO A PROFESSION PASSION AT WORK

1 Discover your passion

Your passion should be the thing you enjoy and for which you are naturally wired to excel. There is a huge difference between a hobby and a passion, and it is crucial that you differentiate between the two before quitting your day job.

2 Determine the demand

Choose a field that determines the level of demand for your skills. It is risky to strive in a red-ocean market, bloodied by competition. But if you are confident in your skills and you have a strong marketing strategy, then it would be possible to establish yourself and face challenges head on.

3 Do your research

Interview people who have or are in a similar business to the one you’re considering. Learn what they did to succeed and follow their path, especially if you choose to work in a niche market.

4 Make a plan

Plan your steps in making your passion a realistic career opportunity. List the tools needed and the expenses to include. Have a back-up plan in case Plan A doesn’t work.

5 Become qualified

You must first become a professional. Expand your knowledge and attend different seminars if needed. As the saying goes “The more you learn, the more you will earn”.

6 Be flexible

Be open to advice and criticism. Surround yourself with people that are talented and will help you in making the right decisions.
