Summer Jam is an exciting, can’t-miss week that will allow kids to grow in their faith as they understand how they can follow Jesus here, there, and everywhere! It’s our biggest summer event for kids and preteens packed with high-energy worship, age-based Bible activities, and SO MUCH FUN!

This camp is open to kids of all skill levels. During our camp, your child will learn the fundamentals of cheerleading. Cottage Hill Baptist Church is hosting Summer Jam from 9:00 - 12:00 PM on the same days. Students who also participate in Summer Jam can be picked up by our team and taken to YDL Cheer Camp for a full day of fun!

The Phonics and Reading Camp will coach students in basic reading skills, including new sounds, blends, letter combinations and phonetics There will be two camps, one for K4 and K5 and one for 1st and 2nd grade.

Our camp is designed for kids of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. During camp, your child will receive personalized coaching and instruction from experienced coaches who have a passion for the game. They will work on all aspects of the game, including offensive and defensive strategies, footwork, agility, ball handling, and more.

Your kids will build their very own battle bot from start to finish and then compete in an epic battle on the final camp day. This camp will teach children the basics such as robot parts, brains, sensors, how to guide a robot and following step-by-step build instructions with the opportunity to add-on creatively.

STEAM CAMP

I’m Michelle Woodruff and I’m an early childhood teacher at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. I graduated from the University of South Alabama and have been a teacher and program director for almost 30 years. I love the excitement that kids experience when participating In hands-on learning. This will be my third summer hosting STEAMCamp and I can’t wait to see returning and new faces as we explore together.

My name Is Julie Hays and I have beenan educator for 12 years. I graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree In Elementary Education. I’ve taught 3rd-6th grade over my career and currently teach 5th and 6th grade Language Arts and Reading at Cottage Hill. I am so looking forward to spending this summer with your kiddos and helping them develop a love for learning In fun and exciting ways!

My name Is Beth Quave. I am a graduate of Mississippi State University with a B.S. In Education with an emphasis in Science and Social Studies. I started teaching in 2000 and have enjoyed my time In the classroom with my students so much! I love my family! I am married to Jason, and we have two teenage children. This Is my third summer teaching STEAM camp, and I am passionate about encouraging studnets to develop a love of the science field. Science Is FUN!

My name is Christina Stirm, and I am a graduate of the University of Mobile. I currently teach Preschool and Elementary Technology at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. Math and Science have always been my favorite subjects, and I’m looking forward to helping students have fun learning why chemistry is valuable and exciting!

My name is Jeri Morley and I am a Pre-K4 teacher at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. I am married to Tracey Morley, we have two children, Heath Ames who is in college at Coastal and Grace who is a Junior at Cottage Hill. I have been teaching for 21 years and preschool is where my heart is. When I am not in the classroom, I love all things Disney and the beach. I am excited to be a part of Steam Camps this summer.

YOUTH SPORTS CAMPS

YDL FOOTBALL CAMP

YDL Football Camp will be led by Coach Carvel Jones, current players, and staff. Coach Jones is no stranger to The Hill as he served as Defensive Coordinator for Coach Bobby Parrish’s staff last season. He is an experienced defensive coach and currently runs the strength and conditioning program for our student-athletes. Before joining CHCA, he was the defensive coordinator at both Luverne High School and Chickasaw High School. He also served as a defensive assistant at Jackson High School in 2017. Carvel Jones had a successful collegiate career as a four-time Sunbelt Conference Champion linebacker at Troy University.

YDL BASKETBALL CAMP

Coach Thomas has been involved in coaching for several years. Coach Thomas has a passion for athletics and the impact coaching has on the lives of student-athletes. He has over a decade of experience in the Cottage Hill community and looks forward to continued growth within the community. Leading the basketball program at CHCA, Coach Thomas looks forward to continued development through engaging younger players and challenging the older players as we strengthen our stance in the state.

YDL CHEER CAMP

Jeri Morley and Elizabeth Bryant are dynamic and talented cheerleading coaches. With a solid foundation in cheerleading, they combine their experience as cheerleaders with their coaching expertise to create a well-rounded and effective training program. In their stint as a cheer coaches, they have guided their teams to numerous victories and accolades. Their commitment to excellence their bring out the best in their athletes.

YDL SOFTBALL CAMP

Coach Womble has coached softball for over 15 years at the youth, high school, and travel ball levels in Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana. She currently leads the Marucci Patriots – Gulf Coast. Coach Womble grew up in Mobile, where she had an illustrious high school career at Shaw High School where she won many awards. She went on to play at Bishop State Community College and earned NJCCC All- American honors. She then transferred and played NCAA softball at Huntingdon College, where she was a member of the Great South Athletic Conference championship teams in 2003 and in 2004.
