Schneerson of righteous memory. With his profound love for humanity and boundless optimism, the Rebbe launched an unprecedented Jewish revival. From the ashes of the Holocaust emerged a vibrant and uplifting Jewish experience. Today, thousands of Chabad emissaries operate in over 100 countries.

Celebrating a shared purpose, each center is financially independent. Chabad Lubavitch of Idaho, together with numerous volunteers and supporters, continues the Rebbe’s mission to create a sacred world of goodness, kindness and redemption.

Dear Friends, Chabad is a way of life that sees every person as the center of the universe and every experience as a chance to improve the course of history.

Since 2004, countless people in Idaho have discovered that no matter their affiliation, observance or knowledge… they are Chabad.

It all began with a dream.

We moved to Boise in 2004, taking up the Rebbe’s vision to help one person. To do one more mitzvah.

What began as a humble operation out of a home, has matured into a vibrant Jewish community. This unique brand of inclusive and nonjudgmental Judaism has transformed the landscape of Jewish life in Idaho.

With opportunities to expand the mind, excite the heart and touch the soul – Chabad offers a wide range of activities, where open-minded exploration is encouraged and embraced.

What was once a dream is now a magnificent reality.

And now, it’s time not only to dream, but to act. It’s time to do something groundbreaking and historic.

It’s time to build a state-of-the-art center and synagogue to serve our community today and for generations to come. It’s time to invest together in the future of Jewish life in Idaho.

Having outgrown our leased space, Chabad Lubavitch of Idaho recently purchased a property that will serve as the future home for the Chabad Jewish Center. This promising property, located at 1803 S. Maple Grove Road in Boise, boasts an existing building that we will be renovating and expanding. This will allow us to accommodate the many programs offered at Chabad and increase our activities to serve the growing Jewish community.

Ilai was a happy, curious boy who loved to read and learn. He was an enthusiastic learner and a special soul with a deep connection to Judaism. His excitement for attending Chabad Hebrew School was contagious!

Ilai’s Library at the Chabad Jewish Center is the ultimate way to commemorate and celebrate his short life.

The library will allow children and families to learn and deepen their bond with Judaism and universal Jewish values.

We pray that the library will bring goodness and kindness to the world through the knowledge it will impart.

The library will house books. But, more importantly, it will be a gathering place for people and a springboard for good deeds.

This will be a lasting tribute to Ilai.

“Our son Ilai attended Chabad Hebrew School for a year before his tragic passing. In a short period, he became very passionate about his Jewishness. Soon the entire family was drawn closer to Judaism.

It would be an understatement to say we got involved with Chabad and Rabbi Mendel, Esther & their lovely family.

The time since his passing has been difficult. We don’t believe we could have made it without the compassion, care and counsel of Rabbi Mendel & Esther. Fatefully, as we lost Ilai we gained a family and a community – one that we would desperately need.

Ilai, in life and death, brought us back to where we belong – home.

We hope that through this library, we will make a true home for his soul – in our hearts and in our community.

Our beliefs do not reside in a building.

But our building must support our beliefs.

Upon completion, the 14,000 square foot new Chabad Jewish Center will feature social, ritual, educational and administrative spaces. Fusing modern architecture with natural, Idaho themes and Jerusalem stone, this home for all Jews will be a landmark tribute to the past and an impressive, contemporary link to the future.

PHASE 1: Purchase Property COMPLETED 2017

In 2017 Chabad Lubavitch of Idaho closed on the property at 1803 S. Maple Grove Road in Boise, with interim financing. Through the generosity of lead donors, the down payment was secured.

Architectural renderings have been completed.

PHASE 2: Renovate Existing Structure

Renovation of building to include Hebrew School classrooms, Ilai’s Library, new youth wing entry, social hall, mikvah, kosher kitchen, restrooms, multipurpose room, and administrative offices.

PHASES 1 & 2 GOAL: $1,500,000

PHASE 3: Synagogue Addition

Expansion to include new entry and lobby, historic new synagogue, upgraded parking and landscaping, playground, sports fields, and sukkah plaza.

“Today, living in Chicago with my husband and daughter, I am an active and observant member of the Jewish community. But, ten years ago I was a student at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. That’s when I called Chabad to ask if I could borrow materials to represent Israel in a campus event. Rabbi Mendel & Esther agreed without hesitation and, discovering I was Jewish, they invited me for Shabbat dinner with more enthusiasm than I could refuse.

Even though they were probably thinking, “What’s a nice Jewish girl doing at NNU?” I never felt a shred of judgement.

My journey back to Judaism would never have happened without their love and support. Patiently answering my questions, they welcomed me into the family, leading me to my own rich Jewish identity. I couldn’t be prouder to call them friends and mentors.”
