HAWK WEEKLY CDS Ventures Into the Woods! But they had to Audition First! CDS Presents Performs Into the Woods JR. as their Spring Musical and The Audition as their Fall Play By Wynn Waterstredt This previous week, CDS Presents, the Chatham Day School theater program, performed Into the Woods JR. for friends, family, and students. Chatham Day School values the arts and each year students have the opportunity to participate in an afterschool program called CDS Presents which gives students the chance to perform on stage or work on the technical aspects of theater. Each year, they present a fall play and a spring musical, this year the play was The Audition by Don Zolidis and the musical was Into the Woods JR. by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. Into the Woods JR. premiered on May 11th and then had two more performances for the

public and one showing for students and teachers on May 12th. The show was one of the most ambitious shows that the school has ever attempted with hard music and difficult technical elements. A generous donation from the Stone Family allowed performers to be able to get lavalier mics and rent costumes for every character, with the exception of MilkyWhite. The Audition is a show that was originally written for a high school by Don Zolidis. The show is about a group of high school students who are auditioning for their school play.
