HAWK WEEKLY MONEY, MONEY, MONEY CDS STUDENTS HEAD TO PHILADELPHIA TO STUDY FEDERAL RESERVE AND INDEPENDENCE HALL by Andrew Cullen
In preparation for this, the seventh graders conducted a Zoom Meeting on April 19th with Todd Zartman. Todd Zartman is the economic education manager at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. During the meeting, Mr. Zartman fielded questions from students that were curious about the current economic conditions in America and how they can best prepare themselves for financial success as adults. Students addressed issues of credit scores, debt, and how major institutions are kept in check.
On Friday, April 21st, students in Grades 6 and 7 traveled to Philadelphia to see two very different exhibits, both of which are integral to how the US functions today! Since the 7th grade spent some time studying the Great Depression and the establishment of the Federal Reserve and the 6th grade learned about one of the founding fathers of America's economy, Alexander Hamilton, the Philadelphia Federal Reserve's "Money in Motion" Exhibit seemed a fitting display to check out (especially given the tumultuousness of the current US economy).
Next, the entire group headed next door to Independence Hall for a tour.
