At Chatham Hall we nurture girls by providing them with the space to become their best selves, while at the same time, challenging them to take healthy risks. Our boarding program encourages girls to take responsibility for their own living and learning and provides them with the tools to do so. While living away from home can be demanding, it can also be rewarding...and fun.

foundation begins with ninth-grade programming that focuses on strength of self and continues with themes throughout each grade. Each class establishes an identity that serves a purpose, focus, and role in the larger community. The result? Girls who understand and value teamwork, collaboration, and unity—qualities that will bring them personal fulfillment throughout their lives.

SERIOUS FUN!

Chatham Hall is a second home for our students, and that’s no accident. Our thoughtfully designed residential life program helps girls cultivate a sense of self and place in our community—all while forging lifelong friendships with girls from around the world. We believe that the exchanges and bonds that occur outside of the classroom not only foster genuine relationships, but help form new perspectives that stimulate learning, enhance emotional intelligence, and enrich lives.

Ask a Chatham Hall girl what the weekends are like. After she finishes her snowcone, removes herself from the bouncy house, and takes a pause from playing with a faculty dog, she will likely answer with “FUN!”. Our picturesque location (in the beautiful rolling hills of southern Virginia) means we can pack so much fun into the weekends. Why so much? Because during the week our girls are giving it their all in the classroom, on the fields, in the art studios, on the stage—so a little (or a lot) of fun provides a welcomed break for everyone.
