Obituary Michael Brett Davis April 17, 1957 - May 9, 2024 It is with great sorrow and much love we mourn the passing of Michael Brett Davis of Chase, at the age of 67. Loving husband to Jacqueline and father of John and Michael, grandfather to Rosemary. Brother of Bruce and uncle to Crystal and Tyler. Mike was predeceased by his mother Doreen and father Alan.

Mike was born in Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver and called many places home, Calgary, Chicago and Toronto to name a few. He spent his younger years canoeing in Algonquin Park and scuba diving. In 1980 he met his wife in Ontario. At the age of 23 Mike suffered an injury to his back which would end his days of adventuring and travel. He brought his wife to Chase in 1991 to be close to his aging parents. Mike’s greatest pride and joy was raising his 2 sons and the love of his granddaughter. He was honoured to mentor the aikido students and many other young people during his life time.

Mike’s wishes were to help people. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Cancer Society would be appreciated, as there will be no service.

Council Meeting Highlights

Letter from Peter van Hoof – Planting of Wildflowers. Council passed a resolution receiving for information a letter from Peter van Hoof regarding the planting of wildflowers.

District of Logan Lake – Bill 34.

Council passed a resolution receiving for information a letter to the Premier of the Province of BC supporting the letter from the District of Logan Lake and their agreement to Bill 34 that will restrict open consumption of illegal substances in public places.

Notice of Motion. Councillor Stevens provided Notice to Council that he intends to bring forward a motion proposing that the Village undertake a 14-day, cost-free wildfire risk reduction focused yard waste removal campaign for residents with expenses evenly divided between the Fire Department and Public Works budget encompassing the provision of roll off vegetation waste bins covering tipping fees and all other associated campaign costs and that Public Works conduct curbside pickup services

on two designated days on a first-comefirst-served basis, based on their capacity to assist registered vulnerable (defined as someone who for physical or mental reasons is unable to transport their waste to a designated drop-site individuals) with tracking managed by the Village staff for optimal service delivery and accountability and continuing that following the campaign Administration will identify the needs for the program in the future and make recommendations for future wildfire risk reduction events similar to the one presented.

The Chase Climate Action Committee and the Chase Environmental Action Society (CEAS) are once again supporting the Go-By-Bike campaign in our community, Monday, June 3rd -Sunday, June 9th.

To start us off, there was a Bike Rodeo on May 15th in the tennis courts between Chase Secondary and Haldane Elementary.

From 8:45-12 noon, the rideo was open to Kindergarten to Grade 6 aged students.

This will allow you to log any kms you ride and will contribute to the total kms for Chase. Please stay tuned for more information leading up to the event.
