W
hat’s a long weekend without good music and a good time? An event planned in Chase for Saturday, June 29, will definitely fill the bill. Tribute band “Completely Creedence,” from Vancouver Island ignites any event with the hits of a famous rock group active in the late 1960’s and early 70’s, namely “Creedence Clearwater Rival,” (CCR), who sold over 30 million albums and singles in the USA alone. CCR’s style of music was described as roots rock, swamp rock and blues rock, a
hybrid of early rock ‘n roll—a back-to-thebasics success with a subtle sound all their own. Although from the San Francisco Bay area, their huge hits, such as Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Born on the Bayou, Green River, Fortunate Son, and Travelin’ Band, speak of bayous, catfish and the Mississippi River, as well as political and social issues, including the Vietnam War. To this day, CCR remains iconic within the music scene despite their relatively short time atop the charts. Continued on page 5...
