Chase Fundraising Society is seeking a qualified, experienced and highly motivated individual to coordinate services to victims of crime and trauma in Chase and surrounding areas.

The successful applicant must be flexible, available to be on call, and committed to attending the required training. He/She must possess strong leadership qualities, good judgement and is expected to comply professionally with the RCMP Code of Ethics.

The program manager works within the Chase RCMP Detachment and reports directly to the NCO/Liaison. This is a 20 hour plus/week position.

Qualifications: *equivalent Victim Services experience beneficial *Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System *Empathetic, Non-judgemental and able to cope with crisis intervention *Knowledge of victimization and Domestic Violence *Excellent organizational and time management skills *Strong communication/leadership skills *Willingness and experience leading a team of volunteers *Administrative skills *Must have or be able to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Clearance *Must possess a valid BC Driver’s license and have access to a vehicle Responsibilities: *Program Administration *Direct support services to victims of crime & trauma *Case Management, record keeping, statistical recording *Recruit, train, direct, supervise and appreciate volunteers *Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with outside agencies *Liaise with RCMP members *Ensure public awareness of the program Start date TBA and will commence upon candidate obtaining RCMP Enhanced Reliability Clearance.

Obituary Muriel Kostal Muriel Kostal, age 83 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Kamloops, B.C. Muriel is survived by her grandchildren Tanya (James) Chan-Chiang of Richmond, B.C., Dustin (Breanne) Erricson of Chase, B.C, Ryan Bentley of Celista, B.C , her brother Bill (William) Moline of Medstead, Sask., and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bob (Robert) Kostal in 2002, her daughter Judy Erricson in 2016, and her sister Selma (Sally) Mae Mathison in 2019.

Shuswap Adventure Girl Watershed Appreciation and Polar Bear Swims

Watershed Winter Turnover It’s said that in order to really know the Shuswap, one must understand the watershed. The vast, vast watershed.

Shuswap Lake is currently undergoing its “Winter Turnover”.

Where the water column basically flips and mixes. Water from the bottom rises and the water on top sinks to the bottom.

The lake is keeping itself and it’s aquatics and vegetation healthy

and thriving by providing oxygen and nutrients.

This process takes about ten days to complete.

This means that the water temps are going to drastically dip.

We go in the water nearly daily and as of Friday the 13th, boom!

Waters getting noticeably colder.

So neat!! Love thy lake and watershed.

One of my favorite resources for all things watershed is Mr. Jim Cooperman and his book “Everything Shuswap”.

A few of us have been doing almost daily swims in Shuswap and are staying in for about 4-7 minutes each time. I just love the mental benefits of cold water swimming, the community it brings and the friendships formed.

Candy Stanley Cup in the relay race!!

RECIPE: Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta Ingredients 3 ¾ cups uncooked rotini pasta 4 thick-cut bacon slices 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces 1 tablespoon dry ranch dressing mix Sauce: 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons flour 1 ½ cups 2% milk ½ cup reserved pasta water (Optional) 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 5 teaspoons dry ranch dressing mix 1 pinch salt 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (Optional) Directions Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil; cook rotini at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes.

Drain rotini, saving 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Meanwhile, place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned and crispy, about 10 minutes.

Remove bacon and drain on paper towels. Leave rendered bacon grease in the skillet.

Sprinkle chicken pieces with 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning. Add to the skillet with the bacon grease and cook until golden brown, 5 to 8 minutes.

Remove cooked chicken from skillet and set aside.

Rinse out skillet. Melt down 2 tablespoon butter in the skillet over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth and thickened, about 2 minutes.

Slowly add in milk, whisking until sauce is smooth. Add pasta water, 1 tablespoon at a time, if the sauce is too thick.

Stir softened cream cheese into sauce until well combined. Mix in remaining 5 teaspoons of ranch seasoning and season with salt. Mix until well combined. Add cooked pasta and chicken back into the skillet and mix until well coated with sauce.

Finely chop cooked bacon. Mix into pasta dish. Serve garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
