Sacramento County Sacramento county is a diverse urban area famously known as the “farm to fork” capitol of the world. It is California’s State Capitol and home to the UC Davis Medical Center - one of the best hospitals in the country. Placer County The west half of Placer county includes Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, Lincoln and numerous foothill towns all known for their charm and history. El Dorado County El Dorado is most well-known for its wide variety of wineries and vineyards, rolling hills, and luxury homes. El Dorado county is a perfect blend of gold country history, culture, and architectural style. Sly Park and Jenkinson lake are a local’s favorite escape for summer fun. Fall offers picturesque color and nostalgic small farms especially in Applehill, an area known for their prolific apple orchards, homemade sweet treats, breathtaking views and local wine and cider tasting rooms. Local Sports The tri county area is filled with year-round live sports and opportunities for sports enthusiasts. Vineyards California is the largest producer of wine in the U.S. It’s also not surprisingly the largest producer of grapes. In our tricounties, two of them have a hand in the winery and vineyard industry. El Dorado is the leader with 68 combinations of wineries and vineyards. And Placer with a total of 29. The climate here brings forth a nice variety of wines and of course each vineyard brings its own depth of flavor and unique style. As you can see below Red Zinfandel is most common with over 450 types found in these counties. You can find these wines through-out this area or maybe even further. However, the richest way to experience them is by going to the source, so that you can taste the wines with their perspective, get to know the culture and vision, plus possibly even see the land.

Farm to Fork Sacramento is the ‘Farm-to-Fork’ Capital of not only America, but of the whole world. That’s right! So, what better place to shop at the farmers market, or dine at restaurants who serve fresh seasonal cuisine made with locally grown fruits and vegetables. You can also have fresh garden goods brought right to your doorstep. As you know, California’s main industry is agricultural. The top income producing agriculture products in California are milk, grapes, and cotton. And Sacramento is in the heart of it! In fact, one of its nicknames is Sacratomato, because it’s the perfect climate to grow the most delicious tomatoes. If you’d like to plant a garden at home the easiest to start with is grapes, peppers, tomatoes, and zucchini. And if you have the time, there’s no limit to what will thrive in this climate. Beyond that orchards and farms are woven into the landscape of the tri-counties and much of California. So, you have many different opportunities to enjoy the fruits of this. The most common fruit and nut trees grown in the Sacramento Valley are almond, apple, apricot, fig, grapefruit, kiwifruit, lemon, orange, olive, peach, pear, pecan, pistachio, plum, prune, and walnut. Those who love buying fresh local food can find seasonal and year-round Farmers Markets throughout the counties.
Capital of the World Not only are we the ‘Farm-to-Fork’ Capital of World; Sacramento is also the Almond Capital of World. In fact, there’s a city in California known as the “Capital of the World” for; Almonds, Apricots, Artichokes, Avocados, Broccoli, Dates, Garlic, Grapes, Horseradish, Lemons, Navel Oranges, Pears, Raisins, and Strawberries.

State Capitol As you know, Sacramento is the capitol of California. Its magnificent building, the State Capitol, serves as the center of California government and as a museum. Sacramento has been the capital since 1854 and is actually the 6th capital of California. The original design includes all three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Eventually the Judicial branch moved a few blocks away.

Walk around Capitol Park – There’s a diverse and beautiful garden including a self-guided world tree tour. This forty-acre parcel is 12 city blocks and showcases trees from almost every part of the world. Colleges and Universities In the area there are a variety of colleges and two universities. California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) is known for its Business Administration Program (one of the only 5% AACSB Accredited), Master of Public Policy and Administration program, and it’s Paramedic program. It’s also known for sports; winning more Big Sky Conference Championships than any other school (34 to date), and the Alex Spanos sports complex. Rivers and Lakes Sacramento is built next to the 445-mile Sacramento River that connects to the San Joaquin River Delta and the San Francisco Bay. Additionally, the American River runs through Sacramento which feeds off of Folsom Lake to Lake Natoma and runs into the Sacramento river. There are two other forks of the American River. The North Fork of the American River starts off of Folsom Lake then becomes the Middle Fork and feeds into the Sierras. The South Fork of the American River feeds off of Folsom Lake’s Salmon Falls and into the foothills of the Sierras.
