Making All The Difference This year marked my 21st anniversary with Compass Group. From my start at Bon Appétit to my current role as CEO of Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services, I’ve experienced first hand what it means to grow my career within the company. I’m proud to be part of an organization that encourages our associates to develop their own career paths and explore new opportunities that result in amazing accomplishments.

In this special edition of Chartwells Monthly, we celebrate the teams and individuals who make all the difference in our business. These are the people who, first and foremost, ensure that our students are healthy, happy and have a place to gather that feels like home. These are the people reaching beyond their day-to-day responsibilities to boost morale, increase financials or win new business. They treat every day as a rebid, assuring that our clients and our broader communities see us as a true partner — and they are an integral part of the fabric of the institutions they serve. Thanks to these individuals Chartwells continues to be recognized as an industry-leading organization to partner with and work for.

The Regional and National Account of the Year Awards recognize extraordinary teams that have truly exceeded their customer, community and client-partner expectations.

The Missouri State Team are a dedicated group of hard working associates who live our mission every day. They embrace every opportunity to be the best, whether it be in residential dining, catering or retail. I am humbled by their drive to live our pillars and demonstrate excellence when it comes to people and service.

The team has supported many community initiatives and raised considerable donations for great causes. One initiative that touched everyone’s heart was a partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation. They raised over $13,000 to send a young boy and his family to LEGOLAND. They not only are focused on executing a great program but making dreams come true. I am proud of the team for wining this prestigious award two years in a row. They are a team that bleeds BLUE and are smart, hungry and humble.

Chef of the Year We are fortunate to have chefs like Sarah Bodner as part of the Chartwells team. Every day Sarah goes above and beyond to ensure all her guests’ needs are met and their expectations exceeded. Sarah also ensures that her team is being developed and that they are able to get the training that they need and desire.

She leads the Webtrition Champions Team for the Mid Atlantic Region and is respected by all her peers. When she has spare time she volunteers in her community of Scranton, PA, educating children about food.

Baker of the Year When Chartwells announced that it was intronew ducing a new category to the Be-A-Star Proaward gram for Baker of the Year, there was no doubt in my mind that Annette Damavandi should be nominated. Every day Annette works hard for the Southern Utah University community baking treats for our students, always with a smile on her face.

We are so thrilled that Annette was chosen as National Baker of the Year as she is a valued member of the SUU community and deserves this very special recognition.
