Emily Godard Wiser (1838-1907) was the daughter of Harlow Godard. Emily married John Philip Wiser (1825-1911), an American-born Canadian distiller, manufacturer, rancher, and politician. Mr. Wiser owned Charles Payne Distillery and Farm. At the Chicago World's Fair in 1893, he introduced whisky in bottles; before that, it was only available in casks and barrels. By the early 1900s, it had become the thirdlargest distillery in Canada. In 1935, the distillery merged with Corby Distilleries, and continues to produce brands of 'J.P.
