At the Charlotte Symphony, we are always seeking new ways to deepen the concert experience — inviting you not just to listen, but to feel and engage with music in transformative ways. Become Ocean embodies this spirit of exploration.

In partnership with Blumenthal Arts, we are bringing John Luther Adams’s Pulitzer Prize-winning composition to life as a fully immersive experience, surrounding you with waves of sound and shifting light, truly capturing the “become” in Become Ocean . More than a concert, this is an opportunity to step inside the music, drift with its currents, and embrace a moment of reflection.

We’re grateful to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for their generous support in making this ambitious project a reality, and to Blumenthal Arts for their collaboration in pushing the boundaries of what a symphonic experience can be. We also extend our thanks to the N.C. Aquarium Society, whose special exhibits will further connect us to the oceans and deepen our understanding of the world Become Ocean evokes.
