The New Year is a time for reflection, hope and, under the current circumstances perhaps, not a little trepidation. Looking back on 2021, the year began optimistically; despite the Covid pandemic raging across the globe, New Zealand’s closed borders meant lockdowns were a thing of the past for us Kiwis who could enjoy almost total freedom. stood down from their jobs as a result of the vaccine mandate. Through the ups and downs – and lockdown – of 2021, The GB Weekly team of reporters and office staff, along with input from community contributors, has endeavoured to provide upto-date news, information and feature articles that not only cover the serious issues but also showcase the rich and varied aspects of Bay life including sport, the arts, local history, personal stories and public events. None of this would be possible without the generous support of our advertisers, who have stuck by us despite their own challenges, HAPPY NEW YEAR MAY YOUR DAYS BE
Cheerful
and our wonderful distribution agents who deliver the paper to homes and business across the Bay each and every Friday. Producing and distributing The GB Weekly is a genuine community effort and we feel privileged to be able to play our part. We hope that our regular readers and seasonal visitors enjoy this review of 2021. The next copy of The GB Weekly will appear in your mailbox on Friday 14 January 2022, by which time the New Year will not be quite so new, but may still be full of hope. Until then, we wish you a very Happy New Year. Jo and Charlotte Richards, Nicola Wells
