What made you enter pageants in the first place?

It was a hobby I had always looked at one day doing, but I knew I had to be financially secure and have built a certain level of self-acceptance and self-awareness. Last year I made the decision to enter my first pageant after having some difficult times throughout lockdown, I wanted to bring some positivity into my life and get myself out of my comfort zone. I believe that we grow most when we step outside of what is comfortable.

Previous titles if applicable/Have you competed before? If so, can you tell us about your journey?

I competed in my first pageant, Miss Galaxy UK, in 2021 and placed Top 16. After watching Eco Pageants UK in 2021, I had a feeling this was the system for me!

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

Eco Pageants is beautifully different in the way it encourages an environmental advocacy and positive climate action and created the inspiration for my platform The Climate Scientist. I believe this system celebrates all types of women and is so important in working towards a greater change for all. EPUK also has two interviews as part of the finals so they can really get to know YOU as a person. After struggling in interview, I knew this was an area I really wanted to improve in and so decided this was the best way to challenge myself.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My platform is The Climate Scientist, engaging young people through the science of our planet. My goals are to encourage positive climate action, reduce climate anxiety and empower teachers to weave climate education into the national curriculum. This platform is an amalgamation of my loves of science, teaching young people and passion for protecting the environment. I believe that when we can understand how our Earth is affected and ask the key questions of people’s choices, we can empower them to build a sustainable future.

What’s your dream title?

Of course, I would love to win the international title of Miss Earth. No British women has ever placed higher than Top 16 at Miss Earth, so it would be an honour to be first.

What was it like when you won?

I knew that winning this title was possible and I think you have to go into these finals with that mindset, no expectations of a crown but at the same time you know you have done the hard work and you have what it takes to be successful. Which can be a hard balance to find! It’s been a week or so since the finals and it still hasn’t fully set in that I’m going to internationals in the Philippines! I am someone who dives into preparation, but this time I will be taking a bit of time to celebrate my achievements with those that have supported my journey.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

I am not a natural at pageants, my title has come from hard work and determination. Write your plan of what you want to achieve and all the tasks you need to do before the finals, and every day celebrate those small wins and tick tasks off the list. Consistency is key!

What is your favourite ever appearance?

My favourite appearances have to be my workshops with The Climate Scientist. My Share the Love workshop with Eco crafts and discussion and also my 5 Rs of Miss Earth workshop talking about carbon footprint and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle materials, but also respect the planet and rethink our choices.

What makes a good pageant role model?

My interview answer to this is someone who is compassionate about their cause or advocacy. A woman who is fearless when challenged and not afraid to show up as her true self and speak up for what is right. For an environmental queen, I believe awareness is key, because with these titles, we must educate and lead by example to show why we must put the planet and people first.

How do you deal with pageant nerves? (If applicable)

This was a big focus in the preparation for EPUK. I get very nervous in interview, so I enlisted the help of Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe 2005, who is now a winning energy coach. She has so many tips for remaining presence and calm in the moment, which enabled me to perform my best in interview and on stage.

About our new chosen charity: Coppafeel

We are the first breast cancer charity in the UK to solely create awareness amongst young people, with the aim of instilling the knowledge and tools they need to get to know their bodies. We like to talk about a serious message in a light-hearted way, empowering people to start healthy habits for life

We want everyone to have the best possible chance of surviving breast cancer. Ideally, we want to live in a world where all breast cancers are diagnosed at the earliest stage possible, at which treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher.

Although our main focus is on breast cancer education, we also instigated the #RETHINKCANCER Campaign, as we strongly believe young people should be taught about all cancers and how to lead healthy lives from a young age.

To ensure all breast cancers are diagnosed early and correctly by…

• Encouraging you to check your boobs and pecs regularly from a young age. • Educating you on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. • Empowering you to seek advice from a doctor if symptoms persist.
