Jesus himself was a carpenter, and his earthly dad, Joseph, was a carpenter, too.
God even got his hands dirty when he made “man of dust from the ground”. Our affiliate and our partners work to follow their example as we build hope in our community.
Through prayers, donations and volunteer hours received from local church members, since 1987 Charlotte County Habitat has partnered with low-income families in their pursuit of becoming homeowners and providing an improved future for their families.
In January, 2020, we will begin construction of our 10th Apostles Build home. Thanks to assistance from our participating church Team Leaders and God’s oversight, work on our past builds remained on time while our volunteers enjoyed completing their tasks. Whether you prefer building walls, spreading paint or picking up trash to maintain the build site, volunteers are a blessing. Nine churches participated in our 2019 Apostles Build project (Burnt Store Presbyterian, Deep Creek Community, Edgewater United Methodist, Faithlife, 1st United Methodist-Punta Gorda, Gulf Cove United Methodist, Lighthouse United Methodist, Pilgrim Church of Christ, and St. Andrews Episcopal), and we hope to have 12 churches representing the 12 Apostles participate in 2020.
We are also thankful for additional donations we received from local church groups during our current fiscal year:
First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte, New Hope Christian Fellowship, St. James Episcopal, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox, Holy Trinity Lutheran, Englewood United Methodist Women, Lighthouse United Methodist Women’s Group and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Charlotte County
Your financial help and prayers support our mission of making a positive difference in our community. If your church might be interested in participating in our 2020 Apostles Build project or if you would like to have someone speak to your congregation about Habitat’s backyard ministry, please contact Jan at 941-639-3162 or jan@charlottecountyhfh.org.
