To say the least, the past few weeks have been quite challenging for everyone. When venturing out to complete essential shopping, we notice things are not quite the same. It is definitely a new world we are living in: social distancing, surgical masks and a shortage of products and services. We have also seen our fair share of changes at Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity.

Our office, resale stores and jobsites closed to the public mid-March and 50% of our office staff are working remotely, while the need for affordable homeownership remains a steady constant. We currently have 27 VOTING DIRECTORS families approved in our Homeownership Program and eight (8) new applications that have been submitted. Our construction staff, who face many challenges without Jay Gordon the assistance of our dedicated volunteers, are working Greg Griner diligently to build as many homes as possible for our Paul Lioon families. Elizabeth Lombardo Roger Miller Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, Charlotte Steven Vito County Habitat completed and closed four (4) homes. Pastor Rich Webb Closings were handled keeping social distancing in mind Brittney Williamson but, nonetheless, the families can now celebrate their accomplishments and self-isolate in a home of their own! CEO It is much easier to follow the ‘Safer at Home’ order when Mike Mansfield you actually have a home. Jeremiah 29:11says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.” These families now have the opportunity to prosper and have been given hope for a brighter future. Even in the midst of a crisis, Charlotte County Habitat has worked to continue our mission of helping families ‘Achieve the American Dream’ of homeownership. We will be participating in “Giving Challenge 2020”, which is hosted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County with giving strengthened by The Patterson Foundation, from Noon 4/28 thru Noon 4/29.
