It feels good to write that after a very strange and rainy start to 2020. And although the weather has been tricky, our Cresswind Clubhouse has been sunny and vibrant! Our weekly classes are getting bigger and we’ve added more offerings including additional Line Dance and Low Impact Aerobics classes. Our Pottery offerings have produced some of the loveliest Coil Bowls and Bird Planters I’ve ever seen, and our regular T.G.I.F. events have been revived to a new level of community spirit, much to the enjoyment of dozens of current and new homeowners!

The Pickleball Club

Community • Exercise • Fun • Competition!

he Pickleball Club At Cresswind PTC was the first Club chartered in Cresswind PTC with the primary focus on community, exercise, and competition. From a small nucleus of about twenty, the Club has grown to over 130 enthusiastic advocates of all skill levels that inundate the four dedicated Pickleball courts on any given day when the temperature is above 45 and there are no gale force winds. Clear days result in seeing the four designated courts in use as well as the portable nets on two or more of the four tennis courts. Beautiful days bring the players out en masse where those waiting on a court cheer on or, good naturedly, “jeer on” their friends and neighbors. Any casual observer will quickly understand why Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country for active adults.

Present club membership consists of players at the novice or intermediate level with several who can compete at the highest levels nationally. At least two members are USAPA certified instructors, also qualified to umpire tournaments at state and national levels. Interestingly, Club membership currently favors 54% ladies. The Club is anticipating another growth spurt this spring as new residents discover the

benefits of Pickleball, not only for the exercise, but for the intentional community that is forefront of the Club’s mission statement to “have fun, meet, welcome, and enjoy the incredible neighbors of Cresswind.”

Club Member Play times are never gender-specific and mixed doubles are more likely the norm, with veteran, novice, and new members randomly playing with whoever is next in the rotating queue regardless of skill level.

Member surveys consistently acknowledge an element of competition on the courts but steadfastly confirms the overwhelming popularity of the Club is due to the emphasis of community first and competition second. Member Play also a° ords the opportunity to discover other like-minded players with similar lifestyle schedules seeking more competitive environments. This leads to open forums on the neighborhood Facebook pages where many arrange to reserve their separate courts at ReserveMyCourt.com. The Club takes great pride in the growing number of ladies and gents who, having developed their skills on the Cresswind PTC Courts, enjoy great success in outside tournaments bringing back prestige and recognition for our community

as well as their own trophies of Gold, Silver, and Bronze!

In addition to community coming into play on the courts, special events o˜ the courts also contribute to great fun, camaraderie and enlightenment.

Several Round Robins of di˜ erent formats have brought much excitement and fanfare for members. Just in the last year we have had two Mixed Doubles Round Robins followed

by Pizza and bragging rights. The ladies had their own version of a fun tournament followed by a catered a˜ air poolside. The men, not to be outdone, orchestrated their own version followed by a “Wings & A Keg” theme, also poolside, where the ladies were

invited as well. The Club is committed to keeping members informed of developments, opportunities, and vision via scheduled Membership Meetings each year accompanied, of course, by fun and food. The inaugural Kick-O˜ Meeting of 2019 included a tongue-in-cheek awards ceremony for charter members whose unique personality traits outshined the game itself. Now it seems many have framed those infamous awards of notoriety, proudly displaying them for all posterity. The Club has more than doubled membership each year and looks forward to welcoming all residents, established and new, to join this exciting community. All these

benefits plus free introductory lessons are o˜ ered to new members for the nominal annual dues of $15 that helps o˜ set minor administrative costs.

The Pickleball Club at Cresswind PTC takes great pride in what is considered to be the premier Pickleball facility in Peachtree City. The Club is committed to being responsible citizens of the community and as selfsustaining as possible, minimizing fiduciary burdens on the greater HOA. The membership has recognized and accepted the meteoric growth and increasing interest in the game, optimistically establishing new goals and objectives. contributed personal funds and time to implement minor court enhancements including a storage unit, ball caddie, windsocks, and racks to hold paddles, balls, and equipment bags. As a result this facility has set the standard for excellence in Peachtree City. In order to maintain that status the Club has a renewed vision for future capital improvements such as windscreens, shade options, and improved forms of seating to accommodate the increasing number of players compelled to wait for a court. In order to accomplish these lofty goals the Club has undertaken the Cresswind Legacy Paver Program, a fundraiser where

members, and residents can donate a brick to commemorate their residency, family member, memorial to a loved one, or simple community support of Cresswind. There are also opportunities for residents, contractors, and local businesses to promote their personal concerns with a one-time donation displaying their permanent sponsorship for this initiative and Cresswind PTC. The Club is grateful to the Cresswind HOA for designating two locations and sharing in the preparation of each site. The first is located behind the clubhouse in front of the fountain area and the second one is adjacent to the Pickleball courts. The vision is

for this program to remain ongoing to meet both present and future legacy opportunities of Cresswind residents, their families and sponsors.

In addition to meeting current facility objectives it generates opportunities for the club to participate in future charitable ways both monetary and in terms of conducting events within the community.

The future of the Pickleball Club at Cresswind PTC is bright, filled with optimism; hopes and dreams that the limited facility will continue to expand to meet the imminent growth and popularity of this game within Cresswind PTC.

Peachtree City’s Cresswind Community Wins National Award O

On behalf of Cresswind Peachtree City, Lifestyle Director, Nicole Jurovics, receives national honors as silver award winner for “Lifestyle Program” by the National Association of Homebuilders.

n Jan 21, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the National Association of Homebuilders awarded Cresswind Peachtree City national honors as the silver award winner in the 2020 55+ NAHB Housing Awards for “Lifestyle Program.” Nicole Jurovics, the Lifestyle Director, accepted the award on behalf of Cresswind Peachtree City.

The approximately 600 residents all agree that Cresswind is a very special community that they bought into when they purchased their new home from Kolter Homes. From the very beginning, Kolter Homes planned a true community, as opposed to simply building great homes. The Cresswind lifestyle is unique in that it is centered around the pillars of Fitness, Nutrition and Relationships. This award-winning lifestyle can be found in every Cresswind community.

Kolter defined the demographics of the community as “Active Seniors.” Then they provided the residents with an 18,000 square foot Clubhouse with an indoor and outdoor pool, a gym, exercise room, art room, full

kitchen, yoga room, ballroom, salon, and plentiful seating areas. Outside, they placed tennis courts and the hugely popular pickleball courts. They also provided a grill area and a large outdoor concert pavilion with a dance area.

Amenities such as those can be found in many new developments, so why did Cresswind Peachtree City capture such a coveted award? The answer is that they didn’t just build houses and buildings. From the very beginning, Kolter provided professional fulltime leadership to help the residents become a real community.

Hired as Lifestyle Director in mid-2017, Nicole Jurovics took charge of meeting every new resident and helping them meet other residents by providing a growing base of clubs and interest groups. She supported the residents as they launched weekly TGIF get-togethers, community luncheons, indoor parties, an exciting schedule of weekly fitness classes, and outdoor concerts featuring tremendously successful tribute performers.

ne of our favorite annual events is Camp Cresswind, where we spend all day with YOUR families! Bring your children and grandchildren to our event lawn behind the Clubhouse for a full day of activities and all-ages fun.

Starting at 10:00 am, our outdoor pool is ready for all day splashing, we’ll have a DJ spinning familiar familyfriendly music, face-painting, caricatures, inflatable water slides, pizza for lunch and cold treats for desert, and the PTC Fire Department will be on site to spray the kiddos and high five the adults (or vice versa)!

And this year we have an extra amazing act! Todd Key, aka “Cirque du Todd,” is best known for his Living Tree costume, pictured here, but he’ll also show o˛ his circus skills, juggling, comedy, and you can expect plenty of audience participation! Todd has performed at the White House, in war zones with the USO, and every year at the Renaissance Festival. AND he’s a children’s book author so you’ll get some storytime as well, with activites winding down at 5:00pm when everyone is ready for a nap.

nce again, jet engines will roar and contrails will crisscross the skies of Peachtree City when the Atlanta Air Show comes to Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field on May 16-17.

The Atlanta Air Show, which has been held at Atlanta Motor Speedway the past three years, is making Falcon Field its home—a joy to folks who have missed having an air show in town since 2015 when the Great Georgia Air Show made its last appearance here. Oÿ cials for the Atlanta Air Show say the move to Falcon Field allows for a more traditional event site with static aircraft on display and spectators able to view all the flight activities, such as takeo˛ s and landings.

More than 30 aircraft will be on static ground display, including the P-51 Mustang, the P-63 King Cobra, the SPD Dauntless, the T-34 Mentor, the PT-19, and the T-6 Texan.

There will be simulators, interactive exhibits, a kids zone, and more. The display and viewing area encompasses over 20 acres of the airfield. Gates will open at 9am so it’s suggested visitors come early in order to see “all the cool stu˛ on the ground before the flying starts!”

“We’re really excited about the move to Falcon Field in Peachtree City,” said Bryan Lilley, chairman of the Atlanta Air Show. “It is a fantastic venue that will be very spectator friendly and allow us to have as many cool aircraft on display on the ground as we do flying in the air.”

If you plan to spend the day, a special VIP ticket package includes elevated box seating, catered lunch, and VIP parking.

There are also Photo Pit tickets that allow guests to enter a restricted area outside the crowd line that provides an unobstructed view of the aircraft in the air.
