The Creek Indians originally inhabited this area and collected the fresh spring water for its healing qualities. In the 1800’s it was acquired by the state and it became an active resort town. In 1927 it became an official State Forest Park. Today, Indian Springs State Park is filled with visitors from all over to hike, bike, lodge, fish, collect fresh spring water, and so much more. The Good News Club

Promoting a Loving and Caring Community

I

n April 2021, the Good News Club (GNC) was formed with the purpose of promoting a loving and caring community by offering inspiration and education through presentations and studies based on Biblical principles. The GNC had its inaugural meeting the following month with a presentation from the Founder and Executive Director of A Better Way Ministries, John Barrow. He gave an inspiring talk on how his life was turned around, how God’s vision and purpose directed him to start this ministry to help men struggling with purpose and meaning in their lives, and how the program has grown to where it is today. In fact, many of you may have hired them as your movers when you came to Cresswind!

Over the past year the GNC Club has hosted speakers with different stories but similar inspiration,

including: Georgia Supreme Court Justice Carla McMillian; Founder/Executive Director of Wellspring Ministry Mary Francis Bowley, a leading organization in the fight against sex trafficking; Founder/Executive Director of God’s Eyes Brian Kaiser, a ministry that takes free eye glasses to the poorest nations around the world; the Executive Director of Real Life Center Greg Georgianni, a local food bank and assistance program for local families; plus heartwarming testimonies from several individuals telling their stories of overcoming drug addiction, child abuse, other difficulties, and how their lives and families have been restored.

Additionally, we have had presentations on some of the most difficult questions in life: why bad things happen to good people (and how to overcome those bad things) and scientific proof for the resurrection of Continued on page 6

Jesus. Finally, we have taken a couple months for some lighter topics with a “clean” comedy night and movie and popcorn night in December. Our club attendance has averaged nearly 60 people per month, with a membership list of over 210 Cresswind residents. In addition, we have formed several smaller “life groups” of Cresswind members for more intimate studies and deeper growth and friendship.

In addition to our monthly meetings, we have also conducted 6-week Bible studies in October and November in the Clubhouse. We have covered the topics of Love, Forgiveness, and this fall will be studying the aspects of Heaven. These studies have been well received by our members, with even greater attendance than our monthly meetings.

Finally, as our club has evolved, we have reached out with practical ministry assistance to both the Cresswind community and Peachtree City Community at large. These activities include prayer requests for members and others (upon request), encouragement cards from our board to members to those who have lost a loved one or are going through difficult

times, assisting in the harvesting of blueberries and muscadines at the Real Life Center orchard that are donated to those families struggling with food needs, and hosting a barbeque for the Better Way Ministries group at their campus.
