Hello!

I have to say, the end of summer and beginnings of fall are uniquely wonderful here in Georgia.

We experienced some hot but beautiful days and we soaked up every bit of sunshine and mild evenings as we possibly could. From outdoor concerts to Pickleball tournaments, from vendor fairs to day-trips and back for more concerts, we stay busy and connected as we grow, grow, grow!

We were honored to host the first annual Cresswind Cup Pickleball tournament October 7th-9th and you can read all about it and see photos on Page 4 and 5 . Our brand new Pickleball Club made us proud and our camaraderie with other Cresswind communities from the southeast is stronger than ever. We look forward to next year in FL! Our much-anticipated concert with the Liverpool Legends did not disappoint! In fact, this Beatles tribute blew our minds and had us all dancing and smiling til the end, and then reminiscing in the days that followed. Thanks to McGarity Law Firm for being our official concert Sponsor and to the Catered Kitchen for delivering delicious boxed meals, we are so grateful to our community partners.

On a perfect fall day in mid-October, a delightful group of 15 current and future homeowners boarded a shuttle-bus to Dahlonega for an afternoon of shopping, dining, a private tour of the Gold Museum and a delicious visit to Kaya Winery for a celebratory and relaxing glass of vino! Big thanks to our travel partner, A-Plus Tours, LLC for organizing and taking fabulous photos, enjoy them on Page 6 .

We have so much to be thankful for as the end of the year approaches. This community is building connections and memories and staying active and engaged, through classes, workshops, and events of all kinds. Can you imagine how busy we’ll be when the clubhouse opens next year?! For now, we get by with a little help from our friends.

Cresswind Twin Lakes Hosts Inaugural 2021 Cresswind Cup

O

ur Cresswind at Twin Lakes community hosted the inaugural (2021) “Cresswind Cup” the weekend of October 7-9, 2021.

Seven teams from Cresswind communities around the southeast convened for two days of Pickleball matches. The Twin Lakes team consisted of many current neighbors (Andy Phelps, Dan Devaney, Brant Sharp, Jim Lunceford, Mark Eigenbauer, Tom Ramunno, Susan Abernathy, Paula Bell, Darci LePage, Jill Jones, Susan Eigenbauer and Janice Esposito) and a few soon-to-be neighbors (Lannie Bittinger, Peter Noone, and Bill Barrett), who combined with some players from Cresswind Lake Lanier to allow us to field an entire team.

The Cresswind communities participating included Lake Lanier, Peachtree City, Charlotte, Charleston, PGA Village Verano, and Victoria Gardens.

The team winner of the 2021 Cresswind Cup was PGA Village Verano, with 124 points, followed by Lake Lanier (93 points) and then Victoria Gardens (87 points). Our Twin Lakes team managed to avoid last place (woo-hoo!) as we finished ahead of Charlotte.

Next year’s event is scheduled to be hosted by PGA Village Verano, and Twin Lakes is already making plans to head south next year for that event. We hope to have enough participation next year to field our own team without having to lean on our Lake Lanier brothers and sisters to fill our roster!

Our Dahlonega Day Trip!

O

n a picture-perfect fall day in mid-October, 15 current and future CTL homeowners boarded a shuttle bus to north Georgia’s favorite destination, Dahlonega. Known for being the site of the first major U.S. Gold Rush and the heart of Georgia Wine Country, Dahlonega is a perfect getaway for a relaxing daytrip.

This group of soon-to-be-friends strolled through the historic downtown, shopping and lunching, and reconvened at the Gold Museum for a private tour. Located in one of Georgia’s oldest courthouse buildings, the museum showcases the mining techniques and lifestyles of the prospectors, through a short film and a guided tour.

Although several attendees had visited Dahlonega dozens

of times, this trip gave them new insight into the local history and they of course enjoyed getting to know each other better.

The final stop of the day was Kaya Winery and Vineyard for a wine tasting and some relaxation on the patio overlooking the beautiful vineyard. Sigh…..

Cheers to our favorite tour company, A-Plus Tours, LLC for another thoughtful, enjoyable excursion. We can’t wait to watch these groups grow and even venture into some overnight trips. All aboard!

With over 150 homes now occupied, our weekly classes are getting busier and even more fun! We will stick with it as long as the weather allows!

■ Our weekly Tai Chi class has a strong group of regulars and a new face or two each week, and it’s just a joy to watch them get more familiar with the movements and grow steadier with practice.

■ Our weekly Yoga-on-the-Lawn class with Cassie is a fantastic group of regulars as well, who often receive visits from local deer and owl as they finish class around dusk. No creature can resist the beauty of a relaxing but powerful practice. Each Monday evening at 6:00pm!

■ We’re so excited to have a weekly Line Dance class here on site, with the lovely and talented Jane Gregg. Absolute beginners are learning dances like the Mamma Maria and the Strait Down, along with the Electric Slide and party-friendly shuffles! SUCH great exercise and good for your brain too! Oh, what a night with Liverpool Legends!

O

Liverpool Legends, a Beatles tribute band, performs September 25, 2021.

n a beautiful evening in late September, the Cresswind at Twin Lakes community gathered on the “concert lawn” at tables and chairs provided by their HOA and readied themselves for a long-awaited concert from the LIVERPOOL LEGENDS, a Beatles tribute band from Branson, Missouri. The band was on a tour of Cresswind properties and we had already heard from the other communities what a fantastic show we were in for.

Nothing could have prepared us for this experience, however.

The Liverpool Legends play songs that span the entire Beatles career and on through the solo years. With costume changes, vintage instruments, and special effects, you can close your eyes and swear you’re watching the real thing.

The lawn became a dance floor where couples and friends sang along to timeless Beatles songs that give everyone joy, and fantastic memories were made. For the next week, homeowners shared photos and videos from the concert event. This one will be hard to top, but I love a challenge!

All of our concerts are bring-your-own food and beverages. Plan on sharing goodies with your table and arriving right when gates open to grab a table and relax and schmooze before the music begins. Our outdoor concerts always offer a fabulous night of music and community.

Our Pickleball Pavilion and Bathhouse opened just in time for the Cresswind Cup Pickleball Tournament. t this point, we’ve enjoyed several concerts at Cresswind at Twin Lakes, but our first “Variety Show” took place in mid-September when the outrageously talented Michael Minor joined us for a perfect Friday evening.

Michael is a ventriloquist, singer, and actor who was a busy traveling performer, going from cruise ship to cruise ship before the pandemic sidelined his work schedule. And

because he’s also married to the incredible Lifestyle Director from Cresswind Charleston, Jill Minor, we knew about him and how uniquely wonderful his performances are.

Michael pulls lucky attendees into his show where they become “living dummies” during a singing-ventriloquy act, even donning them in tail feathers and joining them for a little jig. He then performs a medley of familiar songs

by artists such as Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong, and a variety of country artists with the help of his “friend,” Guido the Rat. Our faces hurt from smiling.

We are lucky to live in a hub of talent here in Georgia, where performers of all stripes can join us to create an exciting and diverse calendar of events. Next up……just wait and see.
