Can you believe we’re approaching Summer already?! We sure have enjoyed some mild spring days these past couple months. Grateful for the bright green grass and cool evenings, but we’re looking forward to some sweaty outdoor concerts in our near future!

One highlight from the spring events was the soft grand opening of our Pickleball courts on Saturday, April 17th! Nearly 70 current and future homeowners gathered for a half-day of lessons, open-play, and some round-robin fun. Fourteen instructors from surrounding communities volunteered their time to help get us up and running! We learned a lot and several in our community are officially hooked! A weekly open play on Thursday evenings has been steadily growing and a Pickleball Club is soon to take shape. Onward!

We also welcomed back Tai Chi on Saturday mornings, a Monday evening yoga class, and a Wednesday evening Line Dance class. Already our community is staying active and getting to know each other in fun, heart-healthy settings!

And speaking of fun, we had a blast at outdoor team trivia and plan to make this a regular event until we outgrow the pavilion at Blake’s of Braselton!

The ladies and gentlemen in our community have organized their own separate monthly lunch meetups and we’re gearing up for our second vendor event, the Home & Hobbies Fair, featuring several current and future homeowners as vendors.

The new tagline for Cresswind is “Set Yourself F.R.E.E. – Fitness, Relationships, Education, and Entertainment” and we are on track to embrace these cornerstones with gusto!

Breaking in the new courts!

Pickleball is Here!

A

t this point, I think most of us know about the Pickleball craze and might even know that it is one of America’s fastest growing sports.

Many communities are striping their tennis courts with Pickleball paint as more and more court-lovers adopt Pickleball as their preferred pastime. Even elementary schools are offering Pickleball as part of their fitness schedule! Pickleball is truly an addictive sport for all ages.

This explains why Kolter Homes decided to invest in the construction of the largest private Pickleball facility in Georgia here at Cresswind at Twin Lakes. With over 40 courts

upon completion, including an official tournament court with an Eagle’s Nest viewing area, our facility will be a destination for regional tournaments and another point of pride for our homeowners.

On April 17th, 2021 we hosted 14 Pickleball ambassadors and instructors to lead our new homeowners in a soft grand-opening of the Pickleball courts. Over 70 attendees enjoyed a morning of small group lessons and an afternoon of round-robin matches. The result?

We are hooked! The following week we saw the introduction of a weekly open play on Thursday evenings and

we have the beginnings of an official Pickleball Club! Let the games begin!

On the horizon this October, the CTL community will be hosting the annual Cresswind Cup, a Pickleball competition between Cresswind and Kolter communities. A round-robin format, this fun weekend will include the competition, an awards banquet, and the winning team takes home a trophy to display in their clubhouse for one year! Watch for more details soon about this good-natured competition.

hen the first Cresswind community formed at Lake Lanier in 2010, the then-Area VP of Kolter Homes, Bob Rademacher, created three pillars for the lifestyle program: Fitness, Nutrition, and Relationships.

Fitness, of course, due to the diverse and plentiful class options taking place in the community clubhouse every day of the week. From the gym to the indoor pool, from the yoga room to the line dance classes, the clubhouse was always home to good, sweaty fun for those looking to stay strong in body and spirit.

Nutrition was showcased in the schedule of guest chefs and homeowner-led cooking classes organized by the ultrapopular Cooking Club. With an emphasis on healthy cooking, nutrition was a valued component of these presentations.

Relationships refers to the vibrant Club programs that organically take shape as homeowners realize their common interests. From Book Club to Travel Club, friendships are made as programming grows. In addition, opportunities for volunteer services within the region get shared, and wideranging support flows from within the community to various local service organizations.

Over the years, this Cresswind lifestyle brand has evolved and this year, our new cornerstones debuted as Fitness, Relationships, Education, and Entertainment. We like to call it, “Set Yourself F.R.E.E.” Even Fitness has evolved as we

recently partnered with EGYM to provide our homeowners with a unique smart-cardio system that will demystify and support even the most skittish gym user! EGYM is creating a Cresswind app as well so we can keep track of our goals and stay motivated and maybe even scratch that competitive itch.

Relationships remains rooted in the friendships we gain, the groups and clubs we create, and the service we provide for others in our community.

Education has been added due to a core part of our programming that highlights informative presentations from experts in finance, wellness, local government and much more.

Our Lunch & Learns are illuminating! Likewise, the workshops offered by local artists and crafty-wizards combine education and creativity, what a power duo.

    

Perhaps our favorite E, however, is Entertainment, as we pride ourselves on the incredible talent we bring to the community in the form of monthly indoor concerts and quarterly outdoor concerts. From tribute bands to chamber music, from comedians to magicians, our schedule of events will fill your calendar as much as you let it!

So when you see the F.R.E.E. icons, just know you are living in a community that celebrates lifestyle in a unique and thoughtful way and truly wants us all to live better, longer.

Staying Active!

With nearly 80 homes occupied as of mid-May, we are starting to add new weekly classes! We just finished a series of Tai Chi classes with our wonderful teacher, Cheryl, and I think we all agree that the mindful, slow movements encourage a calm steadiness and increased stability.

We welcomed back our yoga teacher, Cassie Dalton, with a Monday evening series at 6:30pm, utilizing the lawn behind the sales office. Cassie is lovely, experienced, encouraging, and funny! She offers an all-levels class that brings everyone to a place of calm strength and good vibes. We are grateful to have such a fantastic yoga teacher.

And for the faster-paced folks, we kicked off (literally) a weekly Line Dance class at the nearby Blake’s of Braselton on Wednesday evenings. Great fun, and great exercise for the body and the mind, Jane Gregg leads us in the basics of country and club-style line dances. Look out for some Electric Slide at our outdoor concert on June 26th!

I am Jennifer Landers, the new Community Director for Twin Lakes. I look forward to meeting many of you during our upcoming June concert and other community events.

We hope you are enjoying the Pickleball Courts and you will be excited to know that we are beginning construction on the Bathhouse Pavilion for the Pickleball Complex this month.

We are thrilled to announce the construction on the Clubhouse will begin in June and we will update you throughout the building process.

Twin Lakes is now home to 90 homeowners and we expect to have over 150 residents by year-end.
