Hello!

It’s a new year! We’re still here! And our wonderful community has grown by the dozens since our last issue of The Lakes was published in mid-November 2020.

Our Welcome Committee has grown from a 2-woman operation, greeting each new homeowner with handmade cards and fresh baked goodies, into a 5-person operation. How sweet it is to be welcomed by your new neighbors. Many thanks to Cindy, Marti, JoJo, Sharon, and Robin!

On a warm, sunny day in early December over 300 of you ebbed and flowed through our first Holiday Market right here in the driveway of each model and the surrounding areas. Several CTL homeowners displayed and sold seasonal items including handmade cards, cutting boards, wall art, antique jewelry, and practical and festive home goods. Local businesses also joined as Vendors and got to know our current and future community and they cannot wait to return for our next Vendor Fair in May of this year!

And recently on February 2nd, we gathered together on a cold, blustery afternoon as the Regional VP of Kolter Homes, Tony Adams, updated everyone on the plans for the CTL Clubhouse.

We watched as Tony and several current and future homeowners took golden shovels to the cold dirt to BREAK GROUND! The Clubhouse, the epicenter of our community classes, events, and social life, is underway and will likely be complete by late Spring 2022.

One thing is clear, we are growing quickly and at times noisily! We will look back on this first year together with a knowing smile, in honor of our creative spirit and determination to keep the “social” in socially-distant. We have an abundance of events coming up so read on, and reach out anytime! Happy almost Spring!

he CTL Clubhouse is underway! In case you have never visited a Cresswind Clubhouse, let’s take a quick tour.

If you enjoy visiting the Cresswind model homes and appreciate the incredible interior designs, just imagine how spectacular the interior of the Clubhouse will be! From beautiful lighting fixtures and furniture to soothing color palettes and inviting spaces, you will love giving your friends and family their first tour of your beautiful home-away-fromhome.

Grab a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate from the bar in the foyer before you get going. Check in with the front desk in case there’s tickets available for upcoming concerts or comedians.

Or grab a monthly color-coded calendar showing all the ongoing classes and events. Pop into the nearby salon where our lending library of books and board-games is nestled among comfy couches and chairs in case you want to sit for a spell.

Ready to continue? Let’s visit the ballroom, perhaps there’s a Lunch & Learn taking place where local and regional companies educate and inform our community about practical tools related to everything from Medicare to reflexology to group travel. Nearby, the kitchen is likely displaying some free goodies donated by local restaurants who hope to become your regular dinner spot. Then head to the art room to check on the kiln or some newly completed art pieces on display.

Maybe step outside on the veranda and take in the view of the outdoor pool, the event lawn, and of course our big beautiful lake in the distance.

Back inside, wave at some friends who are getting ready to start class in the yoga room. This spectacular space also hosts line dance, Zumba, pilates, ballroom dance and much more. It will be one of your favorite destinations!

Next stop, the indoor pool! Surrounded by glass, this heated, saltwater pool will host water aerobics, aqua Zumba, and plenty of early morning swimmers. If any homeowners are

As of today we have sold 185 homes and closed 53! The parts for the mechanical arms for the gates finally arrived, and the main entrance is open for all residents use. The first phase of the Pickleball complex is moving slower than expected due to all of the rain however, final landscaping is being installed and we expect play to begin around mid-March! Phase #2 is complete and we are on schedule for Phase #3 to break ground in late March. Lastly, we broke ground on the Clubhouse on February 2nd! We expect to start development the first week of March. I appreciate all that attended the groundbreaking and braved the cold weather!

As you can see, we are making tremendous progress at Twin Lakes and are looking forward to a great 2021!

any believe that the word Yoga is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning to yoke, or unite. I like this translation because it seems our lives have become increasingly fragmented and Yoga has the potential to provide a few moments of wholeness in an otherwise hectic day. Wholeness of breath, movement, and perspective.

And the benefits of giving yourself this time on a regular basis include greater stability, stronger, more flexible joints, and increased lung capacity.

But first you must clear your mind of what you THINK Yoga means and what it looks like. Yoga is adaptive, it can be practiced from a chair, from the

floor, standing, wherever you need it to meet you, it will. Whether you can practice a weight-bearing pose such as Warrior II or a Balancing Pose such as Tree, asking your body to take a new shape and to settle there for several breaths is, in itself, an act that can yield unlimited benefits.

When was the last time you attempted a truly full breath? Did you know that a mindful, full breath can increase your energy level, improve digestion, and reduce inflammation?

Imagine what several deep breaths several days a week can do for you.

And to address some of the more common ailments that come with the

gift of aging, such as arthritis, high blood pressure, and disc issues, some of the most foundational Yoga poses such as 90-Degree Downward Facing Dog, Sphinx Pose, and simple Mindful Breathing, bring about noticeable relief and relaxation fairly quickly, especially with a certified, compassionate teacher as your guide.

Ask friends for referrals to find experienced Yoga teachers, check with your doctor if you’re looking for specific and therapeutic relief, but give Yoga a try and appreciate your body for the gift of stillness, even if it’s preceded by a little sweating, giggling, or grunting.

DONATING POSITIVE ENERGY FOR NORTHEAST GEORGIA HEALTH SYSTEMS

I

n mid-January, I was contacted by Northeast Georgia Health Systems (NGHS), our local hospital who is already an advertising partner in this wonderful magazine.

NGHS asked if our neighborhood would be interested in donating some positive energy in the form of greeting cards, posterboard signs, snacks, drinks, or on-the-go meals for their very, very tired staff. The doctors, nurses, and invaluable support staff have been working even longer-than-usual hours with a nearly full hospital for many months due to the pandemic.

I floated the question to our community here and the response was clear: Of course we would love to send some love to the hospital! When I told the publishers of our

magazine about this initiative, they immediately sent me a generous check to put toward the purchase of snacks as well which added greatly to our already plentiful goodies.

With the help of four street captains, the donated items were collected from their neighbors and dropped at the sales center, and I then delivered the haul to NGHS on January 22nd. Our donated items filled a rolling palette!

The staff felt our support and love, and it felt great to express our collective THANKS for their tireless and invaluable services. I look forward to many more give-back partnerships within the local community. THANK YOU, CTL!
