Fall is upon us!

As we say hello to the cooler weather, it’s important to remember how much fun we had this summer utilizing the outdoor event lawn and soaking up the sunshine as much as we can. The outdoor pool was a very popular destination this summer and it was nice to see grandkids splashing and playing with their grandparents on those warm summer days. Of course, the pool wasn’t the only place our residents got to enjoy being with family. In July we hosted our first Family Night with a Glow in the Dark Party. Between Glow Golf, Tic-Tac-Glow, and the fun dance-worthy music, everyone left in good spirits and so many even stopped for ice cream on the way out! It was a great night of friendship and family, and I am already looking forward to doing it again!

We kicked off summer with the much-anticipated Sons of Sailors: Jimmy Buffett Tribute in June, which was attended by nearly 400 residents. Everyone kicked back to classic Jimmy Buffett tunes and turned Cresswind into Margaritaville. But, the fun didn’t stop there! As part of our Independence Day celebrations, we hosted our first “Hunt Around Hoschton,” a scavenger hunt throughout town. Residents gathered in teams and raced one another to complete a variety of tasks. Our winning team was the Hoschton Hunters, who won a $100 gift card to Cotton Calf Kitchen, and each team member received a new pair of Shady Rays sunglasses.

Now, however, the warm days and nights are going to begin to turn cool. Of course, there is still fun planned for our fantastic Cresswind community. In September we have so much to look forward to! There will be a comedy show featuring comedian Mark Klein, an Elvis tribute, and a free Friday night concert featuring Betty Seni. And mark your calendar for November 4th, when our very own Lakes Committee hosts an up-close-and-personal event with former Atlanta Braves’ players. No matter what you’re interested in, our autumn calendar is filled with so many different activities. I can’t wait to see you at one!

HAVING A BLAST!

Whata wonderful weekend we had leading up to a memorable 4th of July. While the 4th of July fell on a Tuesday, we didn’t let that stop us from having a blast!

On Saturday, July 1 we kicked off our festivities with the first ever Hunt Around Hoschton – a scavenger hunt that had Cresswind residents exploring the town. After members of Cresswind’s Social Committee crafted a list of 20 questions, residents were able to sign up in teams for a Saturday morning hunt. Teams were made up of no more than four people and everyone had to come up with a creative team name. And residents really came up with some good ones! The teams Booze Clues, Caddo Critters, and Cressfinders are just a few of the team names that residents submitted. Starting at 11:00am, teams were given the list of questions and then it was up to them to

find as many answers as possible and as fast as possible...while obeying all traffic laws, of course!

Several teams made it back in record time, but they wouldn’t find out how they placed until that evening during the free concert. From finding out who Bucket Mouth Trucker is to seeking out a red rocking chair, team members were climbing fences in order to find the answers. There were some particularly tricky questions too. Finding out what was wrong on the church with the red door fooled nearly half of the 15 teams.

That evening, Cresswind residents came together for a free concert in celebration of the upcoming 4th of July. The Chris Hampton Band really brought the house down! From nearly the first downbeat at 7:00pm, the dance floor was packed through the entire show. The band was even having so much fun

that they forgot to take a break. And, while at the concert, the anticipated winning teams from the day’s scavenger hunt were announced. Coming in Second Place, the Snoop Sisters (made up of Tammi Herring, Susan Noland, Lori Forrester, and Sandy Overall) walked away with a bunch of goodies that included a brand new pair of Shady Rays sunglasses. The Snoop Sisters got 18 out of 20 questions correct and finished in 54 minutes. First Place went to the Hoschton Hunters (Susan Bragg, Tommy Bragg, Michael Wetzel, Cynthia Wetzel) who also got 18 out of 20 questions, but completed their hunt in only 49 minutes! In addition to the sunglasses, the Hoschton Hunters also won a $100 gift card to the nearby Cotton Calf Kitchen in historic Braselton. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

But, of course, the highlight of all the activities was the annual Golf Cart Parade. A lot of folks came together to put together this year’s parade. After a rainy start to the morning, approximately 75 golf carts lined up to cruise the streets of our community and show off their very patriotic golf carts. When the rain let up, we were hopeful that it would stay at bay for the duration of the parade, but boy, were we wrong! However, in true Cresswind fashion, a little rain didn’t scare us away. As it continued to pour, the parade made sure to visit every street in the neighborhood. After the parade’s conclusion, participants met in the front of the Clubhouse for a hot dog lunch, prepared by members of our community. Despite the rain, everyone had a wonderful time and this was truly a 4th of July to remember!

Memorial Day • 2023

It was a warm, beautiful day as the community gathered to honor those who have served and passed while serving their country. The Cresswind at Twin Lakes Veteran’s Club and numerous volunteers worked hard on preparing displays, a place setting for a fallen soldier, lunch for all attendees and several ceremonies. Veteran’s Club Chairman, Tom Holloman, presented before the American Flag was raised for the first time on the Club Cresswind property. A choral group was on hand to sing the Star-Spangled Banner as the flag waved high above, presiding over all who had gathered.

DEVELOPER UPDATE FROM OUR COMMUNITY DIRECTOR, JENNIFER LANDERS

Greetings Cresswind neighbors, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer here at Cresswind at Twin Lakes! I wanted to let you know about some exciting updates that Kolter Homes has going on in your neighborhood.

install has been moved forward and is scheduled for June 2024. This will include 45 more boxes, for a total of 90 garden boxes.

The Canoe and Kayak boat storage is still coming to the lake shore. Stay tuned for additional details.

We have made great progress on the planning of traffic improvement to the intersection of Hwy 53 and Twin LakesBlvd.Thetrafficstudyiscomplete and a traffic signal design is under review by the Georgia Department of Transportation.We are projecting a final approval by the end of third quarter,with intersection improvements estimated for the end of June 2024. As we have new updates on the timeline, we will continue to keep you informed.

The second phase of the Pickleball Complex, which will also include four tennis courts, is scheduled to be installed by September 2025.This phase offers another 20 Pickleball courts, including the four tennis courts, which will serve as multi-use for both Tennis and Pickleball. All of the new courts will be lighted and will have additional shaded benches among them.

The Community Garden has been a very popular amenity for Cresswind at Twin Lakes, so the remaining planter box

Our walking and hiking trails continue to grow. There are three existing trails. The first runs from the Pickleball Courts behind Ontario Court and Publix down to the wooden bridge. Thesecondconnectsacrossthewoodenbridgetothelakesand the third is located between the Dog Park and the Community Garden traveling to the lakes. We have a new fourth trail under construction along the lake’s edge on the Cresswind side of the lakes that will be completed by August. Additional trails will follow as the next community phases are completed.

Cresswind at Twin Lakes will have eight phases of development upon completion for a total of 1,300 homes. We have completed the development of Phases 1-4 and are currentlyselling homes in Phase 4.We have begun development of Phase 5 with an estimated opening date for new home sales of October 2023. This phase consists of 169 homesites and is located in two areas of the community behind Rabun Court in Phase 3 and Seneca Way and Huron Lane in Phase 4.

Sons of Sailors Jimmy Buffett Tribute Concert!

In June, we had our first outdoor concert! And what a memorable time it was, too! To kick off summer, Sons of Sailors: A Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band were the first to rock out on our beautiful outdoor stage. And Cresswind residents were there to have a blast. In fact, we had nearly 400 residents come out to dance and sing along to their favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes.

The weather was perfect and the evening was a smash! The band took the stage at 7:30, and played straight through until shortly after 10:00pm! The backdrop of our beautiful lake made the evening that much more special, too. It seemed as though everything lined up perfectly for this momentous event. Not a cloud in the sky, good food, and good friends really made the experience stand out as a tremendous event.

Residents went ‘all-in’ on showing off their Parrothead gear. So many Hawaiian shirts and leis were among the crowd as people embraced the perfect summer night and turned Twin Lakes into our own Margaritaville!

Celebrating Summer with Ice Cream!

The summer has gone by so quick! It was only the other day we were celebrating its arrival. On June 21st, the first official day of summer, the residents celebrated with ice cream. Even though the weather that day didn’t feel too much like summer, with clouds and rain in the sky, Juke N Jive Creamery made it feel like the sun was shining

bright. It was so nice to welcome summer with friends and neighbors while enjoying a complementary scoop of ice cream. We really made the best of the season with our concert, 4th of July golf cart parade, and family night. And we kicked it off right, with a sweet summer treat.

Family Night Glow in the Dark Party!

InJuly we had our very first family night with a one of a kind Glow in the Dark Party. Residents and their loved ones didn’t know what to expect when they heard the party was glow in the dark, but everyone was pleasantly surprised at how the Multi-Purpose Room was transformed into a neon adventure. Not only did everyone (adults included) get glow necklaces and bracelets, but all the games were lit up too! Attendees tried their hand

at glow in the dark mini-golf, glow cornhole, and glow Skee-ball. When people needed a break from the activities or the dancing, delicious Scoops ice cream was available as a sweet treat. And then folks headed back inside for dancing! Residents loved being able to share this wonderful experience with their families, we even had parties of 13 people! Wow! It really was a fantastic family night, and only the first of many more!
