Amazing Soccer Team: Las Chivas By Jocelyn

Background image by Canva.com

Las Chivas were in the news this year 2022, a team on the soccer champions tour 2021-2022. This soccer team has 13 teammates, which includes their manager Ricardo Cadena. Another fact is there was bad news this year in 2022 when Las Chivas was eliminated in the quarter finals of Clasusura 2022. Both teams - America and Las Chivas are the most successful Mexican football clubs in terms of championships. America won 13 league titles and Chivas trailed them by one, with 12 wins. Of course America is the top team, but Las Chivas is a great team at second place in 2022. Jonathan dos Santos was sent with scoreless sent off with 51st min. After Las Chivas won the first game with the score 10, because the 51st min they had. However, the second game, the team America thought different and then America beat their high fancied opponents with a score of 7-2 the next game. In these days it looked liked Orbelin from another team called Mexico, but they said he would join the Chivas, in yet he turned his back on them and went to Liga MX, a rival. That was a big deal, because he was using the second group to see who wins - that way, he could chose and and go to the Liga MX so he can win and cant lose in any way. This was big news during 2022, because two teams were mad and it caused a lot of drama.

Metaphors and What they Mean By Eric

Photos by Canvas.com

The reason we use metaphors is to give new meaning to words, but sometimes metaphors are just so complicated! For example, the metaphor "Don't judge a book by its cover," was actually invented in 1867 by George Eliot in one of his articles. But what does it mean? The saying means to not judge a person or thing by its outward appearance alone. For example, have you ever met someone and thought of how they are going to act and they acted completely differently than you expected after you got to know them better? That would be the same as you judging them by their outward appearance or how they dressed, and that is why the saying was created.

Some metaphors that can be tricky are the ones that are not sarcastic, like "Go break a leg" or "Hold your horses." They all have a meaning like a "hidden" message. "Go break a leg" means to do well in your audition or act, but it doesn't mean to actually break your leg! The "Hold your horses" metaphor would indicate that you should calm yourself down or stop what you're doing, but it doesn't mean to stop your horses, because you probably don't even have any horses. One of my favorite metaphors is, "Today was a roller coaster," which actually means your day was packed and stressful throughout most of the day.

Places of Beauty Around the World

By Anbarin

There are many places of beauty around the world, four of these places are Kaaba,The Buddhas of Bamiyan, Goreme, and last of all Esfahan.

Kaaba

The Kaaba is in Saudi Arabia in the holy city of Macca. The Kaaba is 5,000 years old. It is a place for Muslim and only Muslims. Non-Muslims will not get into Macca or the Kaaba. When Muslims go to the Kaaba, they walk around the Kaaba seven times, during their visit, they touch the Black Stone. Both men and woman can go.

The Buddhas of Bamiyan

The Buddhas of Bamilyan are in Afghanistan. They are 1478 years old, only two of them in the world, and were the biggest Buddhas in the world. Sadly they were both destroyed in 2001 after the Taliban government declared that they were idols. Photo by Farid Ershad | Unsplash.com

fashion Doesn't doesn't define fashion Define me By Mabel

In fashion, there are many types of fashionable clothes people like to mix and match together to make trendy outfits. In the fashion industry, just because you wear very expensive clothes, doesn't mean you have the best style. To have the best style is to make a good outfit out of anything in your closet. There is times where people define you by your fashion sense or how you dress, but that shouldn't be the case. Sometimes a person can have the same style as you, but they can be a greedy person, and that can change their style entirely. Fashion is a part of art, like even though you wear the clothes, it's creative and stylish. Adding accessories can make your outfits much better, such as necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses, hats, etc. Overall, fashion is a great thing, because without it, our world would not have much color.

Yellowstone: The Cost of Repair By Diego The Yellowstone National Park flood that occurred earlier this month took out vital infrastructure across the area. Homes nearby were damaged, park pathways and campgrounds were destroyed and rivers flowed uncontrollably. Estimates of repair costs range from tens of millions to billions. Years of work are predicted ahead to rebuild the park. The overflows of the local rivers caused mudslides, swept away roads and other objects and washed up trash and debris. This also impacted wildlife as aquatic life were displaced and land animals either had their habitats damaged or were swept away themselves. The citizens of nearby towns such as Red Lodge, Montana had to experience flooding of their towns along with knocked out power, compromised water supply, flooded buildings and other objects being swept away.

The flooding forced evacuations for the tourists on the park at the time, many had to be rescued by park employees. In Gardiner, Montana, many tourists were stranded as the flood cut off outside road access to the tourist town. Despite their panic, the situation was resolved by the local residents of the town, who provided shelter, food and good spirit to the tourists. While the town became mostly empty as the routes were re-opened, many of the stranded have not forgotten the contributions of Gardiner's citizens.

Extinct Animals That Once Roamed the Earth

By Joseph

There are so many extinct animals around the world, and over the years lots of fossils have been found. Fossils are found near places where extinct animals lived. Fossils are hard to find, because most fossils were melted by lava or destroyed underground. Most extinct animals haven't had a fossil found of it. After an animal passes away, it needs to be covered right away with sediment for it to fossilize. Do you believe in the extinct beasts? It's hard to believe that giant animals used to live on Earth. There is lots of evidence these animals lived on Earth. People have found thousands of fossils over the years that are proof extinct animals have lived before. Another way we know extinct animals lived on Earth, is that we have found places where they could have lived. Do you know how long was the Woolly Mammoth around for? The Woolly Mammoth is one of the most well-known extinct animals. It is an ancestor of the modern day elephant. Woolly Mammoth was around for a very long time until the icebergs melted, and the Woolly Mammoth was still around when the Pyramids of Giza were being built! The Woolly Mammoth was around for 290k years!

Andriod versus iPhone: The Social Divide By Kamari

Ever since iPhone and Andriod came out, people have chose sides. It's interesting to look at how "what's in your pocket" impacts how you're looked at by others. Andriods were often cheaper than iPhones. The reputation someone was given for having one or the other is crucial. Pros and cons of each phone also weigh-in, such as FaceTime or iCloud for iPhones and Google attributes and a better camera for Andriod. The divide of these two brands caused the kids in school around me to be picked on for having an Andriod or seen as "so much better," because they had an iPhone. This begs the question of which is really better? In my opinion, one isn't better than the other. The phone you get should be based on what you need out of the phone in the first place.

The Evolution of The Sims By Bethany

Sims is a video game you can download on a computer or a game console. In Sims, you can customize people, from what their face looks like, to what they wear. You can also change how they walk, their relationship to other people and more. There are also different kinds of furniture, make-up and clothing you can choose from, based on what packs you buy. Will Wright is the creator of Sims, who designed a simulated-life game. There are four versions of Sims, with the first game that came out Feb. 4, 2000; the second one came out Sept. 14, 2004, the third game came out June 2, 2009 and the fourth Sims game came out Sept. 2, 2014. The graphics between Sims 1 through Sims 4 have changed drastically throughout the years. In the Sims 1, there was better music, original households, better neighborhoods, bigger expansion packs and more interactions with certain objects. In the Sims 2, you could introduce friends to each other, hang out in a group, enjoy mealtime interactions, have pet jobs, grab someone, develop interests, have school and parenting interactions, could slide down spiral staircases, and could also cuddle while sleeping! In the Sims 3 you could have certain Sims fish in swimming pools, Sims in the criminal career cannot be robbed, and celebrities could even be cheered or booed if seen in public. I personally like the Sims 4 because its much more detailed than the previous Sims games. My favorite things about the Sims 4 is that you can do so many different things and it's not easy to get bored of it quickly.
