Isaiah has met with the lacrosse team and their coach Rob Holub many times and now the team has made Isaiah a lifelong member of the team. Back in December, Isaiah came by the University and spent some time with the players and coaches. Isaiah and his siblings spent time playing games with the players and even singing Christmas carols. NFL Pre-Combine Projections

ith free agency starting, the next thing that football fans are looking forward to is the NFL draft. But before that takes place, the next big event is
the NFL combine, where every NFL scout gets to see the draft prospects show their skills in a multitude of drills. There’s one question that a lot of people are asking: Who is the player to watch out for? Well here’s a list of 15 of the biggest names pre-combine and where
they’re projected to be drafted (projections taken from cbssports.com and nfl.com, respectively).
1.
Myles Garrett, Defensive End – Texas A&M
Projected pick: #1, Cleveland Browns
Analysis: Standing at 6’5”, 270 lbs., Garrett is easily one of the best, if not the best pass rusher in this year’s draft class. His raw speed and explosiveness allow
him to make offensive tackles look like babies when he comes around the edge. His numbers may have been down from what they were in his first two years,
but that still doesn’t take away the fact that Garrett is just an absolute best at what he does in this draft class.

Malik Hooker, Safety – Ohio State
Projected pick: #12, Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia) or #7, Los Angeles Chargers
Analysis: At 6’2”, 205 lbs., Hooker is the ideal build for an NFL ready safety. His coverage skills and run support made him stand out as one of the best safeties
in this year’s draft. Hooker lead the team with seven interceptions in the 2016 campaign, which was the third most interceptions of all defensive backs in the
FBS. Hooker is a lethal defender and is an asset to any team he gets drafted by.

Marshon Lattimore, Cornerback – Ohio State
Projected pick: #6, New York Jets or #2, San Francisco 49ers
Analysis: Another Buckeye cracks the top 10, and this one is known for his lockdown coverage. Lattimore, 6’0”, may be a little undersized to cover some of the taller receivers the league has to offer like Julio Jones or Mike Evans. Everyone witnessed that his size can be used to exploit him in the College Football Playoff Semifinal game against Clemson, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play lockdown defense. His run support and tackling ability is another reason he is so highly touted. Just like Hooker, Lattimore will be an asset to any team at the cornerback position. 4.
Jamal Adams, S – LSU
Projected pick: #5, Tennessee Titans (from Los Angeles Rams) or #4, Jacksonville Jaguars Analysis: Adams is a little more of a run support safety, he can come down and hit hard and fast. He tackles well in open space and he just has the innate ability to blow plays up before they get started. Adams is kind of like a Eric Berry or Kam Chancellor, someone who can blitz off the edge to add extra pressure when needed, but he can also handle is own in coverage. 5.
Jonathan Allen, Defensive Tackle – Alabama
Projected pick: #4, Jacksonville Jaguars or #3, Chicago Bears Analysis: Allen was a part of a d-line that disrupted and rattled so many quarterbacks over the course of the 2016 season, including eventual National Champ, Deshaun Watson. His natural power caused problems for any interior lineman that tried to block him, and it was rare for any quarterback or running back to get away from him once he had them in his clutches. Allen’s ability to reach up and swat the ball down at the line of scrimmage is another fold to his game. Allen could be, arguably, the best interior defensive lineman this class has to offer. 6.
Rueben Foster, Linebacker – Alabama
Projected pick: #9, Cincinnati Bengals or #5, Tennessee Titans (from Los Angeles Rams) Analysis: It’s fairly normal to see multiple defensive players from Alabama that are high on scout’s watch lists, and this year is no different. Many scouts consider Foster to be “the most NFL ready linebacker” in this year’s draft class and there aren’t many people that are going to disagree with that statement. It’s not just his hard hitting that has him so high on scout’s boards, it’s also his intelligence and pursuit that make him the most NFL ready LB in this year’s class.

A Letter from USGA President Samantha Moul
I
n my time here at the University of New Haven, I have learned many things. A lot of these things were taught to me inside a classroom or came from a textbook, but most of the lessons that will surely stick with me for the rest of my life came from you, my fellow Chargers. In my experiences in our community, I have met so many people from different backgrounds, cultures, geographical areas, affiliations, identities, and opinions. And every single one of you has taught me something. I have learned that as a student body, we come together when it is most important, whether it is supporting countless charities, helping our fellow students in their time of need, or simply just cheering each other on. No matter who you are or what you do here, you have all been part of making my experiential education everything that it could be. Through these ups there have also been some downs. The social and political tension that is currently present around campus can be felt in a politically charged conversation in class, through the banter in Bartels, and especially on social media. Many people are, for the first time in their lives, fighting for their beliefs and for their rights. Many others are continuing a fight they have battled all of their lives. And this fight is different for every individual on our campus, which is why it can seem so difficult to understand one another. However, I think these differences are something to be celebrated. Now, there is a very big difference between what is a political opinion and what is a derogatory and/or disrespectful comment against someone or a group of people – that I cannot argue. However, not everyone with a different view than yours will also have those kinds of things to say and we can’t ever know until we listen to them. Despite our differences and our beliefs outside of the University of New Haven, I believe we have the opportunity to not only use our college campus to continue all of the great things we do, (some listed above and many more are not) but to also engage in civil discourse and learn from one another. We are bound to come across many people in our lives with whom we disagree, but here at the University of New Haven, we have the opportunity to discuss these differences, and learn why we differ so greatly from others with people that we also happen to share a lot in common with, something that may not be as easily found post-graduation. It is difficult to have your own values, beliefs, and passions and then meet someone who goes against what you believe in. However, one thing we will never fail to come across during our time on campus is someone we share a home with, for the University of New Haven has truly become all of our homes. I certainly have a lot of growing and learning left to do during my time here at U.N.H., but one thing I truly pride myself in is that I am a Charger, a member of the University of New Haven family. This campus has given me everything and if we continue to move forward as one, as a cohort of students who pride themselves on listening to understand and truly learning from everyone we have the opportunity to meet, this campus and its students will continue to give so much more. It’s a big task ahead of us and it might not always be easy, but I have no doubt that when our student body decides to come together, incredible things happen. So let’s get to work, Chargers.

Lemonade allowed audiences to see into a side of Beyonce, a black music icon, in a way that most had not seen before. This album, for many black women, expressed sentiments that they felt to a larger audience. It showed a black woman as being vulnerable and exposed rather than the strong independent woman she’s always expected to be. It touched on all the experiences of heartbreak such as rejection, anger, reduction, while also dealing with how unappreciated black women in America are. Not only was the audio of this album incredible, but let’s not forget this was a visual album as well. With Oscar worthy editing, mystifying imagery and abstract poetry, the visual aspect of Lemonade cannot be downplayed. On top of that, the album used black women from Serena Williams and Zendaya to inspire young black girls and have them seen in a positive light as well as the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner, who are activists against police brutality. This album managed to touch on a vast collection of issues troubling the black community, and its authenticity is what made it such a big deal.

The Charger Gymnasium was filled with dozens of spectators ready to watch the University’s athletes put on a show, competing for the honor of first place. The entire night was not only filled with fun and talent, it was also a special benefit event to earn money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The talent show consisted of 13 different acts by the major sports teams, the heat was on for everyone to give it their all and win the hearts of the judges and the audience members. The teams were judged based on the overall creativity, team involvement, execution, and entertainment of their act, with the chance of earning up to 40 possible points to become the champions of Charger’s Got Talent!. Saturday were both their invitation only nights for the potential members that would be invited into their sisterhood. Kappa Kappa Psi had a similar structure to Alphi Phi Omega, running from Monday to Friday, but altered from the two in the sense that there was no theme linking the days. Monday began the week with icebreakers, including games such as two truths and a lie and guessing which facts belonged to which member. Tuesday was a speed dating event in honor of Valentine’s Day, where potential members spent a specific amount of time at each table talking to current brothers. Music night was Wednesday, which included a game of musical chairs and Thursday brought formal interview night, where potential members spoke with current brothers in a more formal setting. Friday night was their invite only where potential members who were invited into the organization received their bids. “My favorite part of the week by far is watching them realize they are receiving their bids; watching the excitement in their faces and knowing that all of the work we put into recruitment was so worth it to see how happy they were is a feeling unlike any other,” explained Kelly, summing up the important take-away from the long week.
