2021 marks the 100th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin's classic ďŹ lm The Kid. A milestone in his artistry, The Kid was ChaplinĘźs first feature film and his most ambitious production to date.

A perfect blend of comedy and pathos, The Kid has always been a tremendous hit with audiences.

Its themes of survival, hope and love are as relevant today as in 1921.

According to Google Trends, searches for “good news” reached all-time highs in 2020. In these troubled times, people are seeking joy, love, laughter, and a sense of timelessness – all characteristics that are illustrated in The Kid. Charlie Chaplinʼs famous Tramp and his adopted orphan son (and partner in crime) played by Jackie Coogan continue to delight audiences. But The Kid is more than a lighthearted comedy with a happy ending. Its complex depictions of poverty and parenting draw from Chaplinʼs own youth in and out of orphanages and workhouses, and on the streets of London.

Many of Chaplinʼs admirers regard The Kid as his most perfect and most personal film.

Licensed poster artwork for film distribution by mk2 films

A new 4K digital restoration of the film is available. Licensed distributors mk2 films commissioned this new artwork by illustrator SĂŠbastien Plassard for worldwide promotion of the film in 2021.
