issanabie Lodge # 266 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows celebrates its 125th birthday this year. The story goes that it was a rather cool night on the 16th day of May in 1888; with the fire crackling in the background, six gentlemen huddled around an old wooden kitchen table decided that the Odd Long Term Fellows could “do Forecast some good” in Thursday Chapleau. Atkinson, W. Yule, J.M. Austin, J.B. Dexter, and T.A. Austin. The Odd Fellows are one of the earliest and oldest fraternal orders known to man. Several theories exist as to how the name came about, but the one most recognized is that people who exercised unusual or “odd trades” joined together to form a group called “Odd Fellows”.
