n behalf of myself, Deputy Mayor Lisi Chrichton-Bernier and councilors Rose Bertrand, Doug Grieg and Larry Lacroix as well as your municipal staff, I am pleased to wish the citizens of Chapleau and area a wonderful and peaceful Christmas. Once again Chapleau's celebrating started with the arrival of Santa at the Old Fashion Christmas event, Canadian Pacific's Christmas train and many activities such as the skate with Santa event. Chapleauites also have many Christmas parties and get togethers to attend. May this Christmas bring joy and Happiness to your family and acquaintances and may God be with you on your journeys. Christmas is a time for you to enjoy family activities and the festive season. May all your days be Merry and may Christmas cheer be with you throughout the holidays.

Here’s to Paulette By Dan Kislenkl t started as an idea to help make weekly staff meetings a little more relaxed and a little more fun. Now it's a vehicle for raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Almost a year ago, the people at Kitestring started taking turns making creative cocktails to share around the office every Friday. Then they had to make

sure a colour match was in place for things like setting and clothes. It was very popular with the staff at the downtown Hamilton advertising company that also does a lot of work in branding, marketing, web design and social media for local organizations such as the Ottawa Street BIA, Hamilton International Airport, St. Joseph's Healthcare and the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA. “We've always tried to give back to community, so in the past we've contributed to charitable causes like the McMaster Children's Hospital," says Kitestring studio manager Stephanie Shuster. "We look for a different cause every year, something that

resonates with staff." Then they learned that Paulette St. Amand, the mother of their colleague Brandon, had terminal cancer. So the Kitestring people looked at the rotating cocktail idea and decided to publish a book of the recipes, along with nonalcoholic versions where feasible, one for each month, and make the Canadian Cancer Society the recipient of the proceeds from its sale. Many of their clients had already asked how they could get involved with Kitestring's community efforts. "We decided to use women clients as all the models holding the drinks as a tribute to Paulette," says Shuster.

"Then we made the drink for May the Rhubarb Paulette, since Mother's Day is in that month." "All the people we contacted agreed to be in the book," adds Kitestring partner and creative director Chris Farias. "They are all clients from the Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville areas, except for the December drink, which has four of our team members in the photo." They got to work i n l a t e S e p t e m b e r, shortly before Paulette died. Hamilton photographer Kate Benfy volunteered to do the pix and spent two full days crafting them.
