Chapleau General Hospital Auxiliary celebrate 95 years

n September 20. 2009 at the Royal Canadian Legion, the Chapleau General Hospital Auxiliary hosted a social for its volunteers to celebrate all they have been able to accomplish over the years. Warm sunny weather had many of the organizers hoping for a good turn out and safe driving for our guests from out of town.

Guest speaker Joan Babij President of the Hospital Auxiliary Association of Ontario spoke about how the Auxiliary's work within the hospitals, what our goals and objectives are and that across Ontario, Hospital Auxiliary have raised and donated $48 million for hospitals. She also stressed how important it is for its' members to attend the educational sessions at the fall Convention in Toronto. At this year's convention a workshop on the H.A.A.O. web site will be a full day presentation and someone from each Auxiliary should attend. In closing she

thanked the Auxiliary for inviting her & husband William. Ann RuddRobins Region 11 Chair presented a cer-

tificate from H.A.A.O. Ann spoke on the importance of keeping up with all the changes in our hospitals and attending the spring conference in our Region. She acknowledged our volunteers for the service especially our active members who have put in so many hours and years assisting our hospital . Gail Bignucolo, C.E.O. of Services de santé de Chapleau Health Services thanked us for inviting her. Gail spoke on the changes that have taken place since she accepted the position of C.E.O. and commenting on how often our present president has retired but keeps coming back. She thanked the

auxiliary for all the money and donations we have made over the years. Our service and hours are also greatly appreciated by all of the staff. Shirley Goheen president of Chapleau General Auxiliary spoke about the upcoming Fall Fair , the workers needed for the Tuck Shop at the Hospital and how the tuck shop is down the hall and not visible to the general public and suggested that the board room in the main lobby would be a wonderful spot for the gift shop. At this time the 100 year anniversary was mentioned and she expressed that it would be great if we had more active members and that we should start planning for this cele-

bration now. H.A.A.O. pins and certificates were then handed out to active members Judy Imbeault, Peggy McKnight, Rita Poulin, Suzanne McColman, Carmelle Card ,Ginette Pelletier, Gisele Harvey and student volunteer Cara McKnight. Absent were Lurleen Blais, Claudette Carroll, Nellie Mitchell, student Shawn Hann and Stephanie Imbeault. Shirley then thanked her members for all their help and reminded everyone that the money bags that were handed out earlier this year should be turned in as we will be posting the amount raised at the Fall Fair, In closing everyone was asked to stay eat and visit for a while.

New business has successful opening

aturday, October 3 was a day when dreams became reality for a young business entrepreneur. Shannon Fuller, of Full of Fitness Health Facility, was beaming with pride as she proceeded in showing the visitors her new fitness centre and all it's state of the art exercise equipment. Through out the day over 100 visitors dropped in to visit Chapleau's newest business. The planning

stages of the business started in December of 2008. Denis Rochon from the Ministry of Northern Affairs and Forestry helped Ms. Fuller with the initial funding applications and procedures. Ms. Fuller is qualified to operate this type of facility as she graduated from Fanshawe College in 2002 from Fitness and Health Promotion and continued her education through certifications such as P e r s o n a l Tr a i n i n g
