n August 18th, 2007, Savanna Genereux, the daughter of Rick and Kim Genereux of Chapleau, gave birth to twins, Jade and Kendra. What makes this exceptional is that the twins were not expected to meet their parents until November 25, 2007,

which was their due date. The three month premature girls were born in the United States because all Canadian neo-natal units were full and not accepting any babies. Savana and Ken are now in Buffalo, New York, with girls Jade and Kendra Case. The girls each weigh 2 pounds. The girls are being looked after by a wonderful team of professionals, and Savanna has since been discharged from t h e Wo m e n a n d
Children’s Hospital. Savanna is staying a few blocks away from the hospital at the Ronald McDonald House. The staff at the hospital have informed Savanna and Ken that these girls will have a tough fight and will reside at the hospital until they are ready to go home to Barrie, Ontario in late November. Aside from facing the normal day to day pressures of being first time parents, a financial struggle is now thrown
into the equation. Having to maintain their apartment in Barrie along with the added costs of accommodations, travel and the dollar exchange while living in New York state for the next three to four months will be a financial burden that may affect
the family for years to come. In order to help this family in need, face the upcoming financial hardships, a trust fund on behalf of Jade and Kendra Case has been set up at the Royal Bank in Chapleau and may be made at any Royal Bank branch.
As a comm u n i t y, w e h a v e always come thru to help people in need. E v e r y o n e ’s help and prayers would be greatly appreciated. The Chapleau Express will have updates as often as possible to keep everyone informed.
