Representatives from 37 Branches of the Royal Canadian Legion gathered in Chapleau on the weekend of April 8-10 for the District H convention. It was the first time for Chapleau as host of the District H convention. L o c a l organizers, under the direction of Comrade Graham Bertrand, received many congratulations from all the participants for a very well planned convention. A total of 155 participants took part in the convention to elect officials, discuss policies and the year’s events, and present a variety of awards. This District H is comprised of 37 Branches throughout

Mr. Patrick Venne has taken on the role of principal. A lifetime resident of Timmins, Venne attended the University of Ottawa and teachers' college at Laurentian University. B e f o r e working as a teacher, Patrick worked for 5 ½ years in Literacy, and owned his own coffee

shop business for 2 ½ years. Patrick is married and has a 2 ½ y e a r o l d daughter. Township Council fine tunes ATV by-law

This will be his first experience as a principal. T h e n e w principal states that his philosophy is “to assure that each child reaches his/her potential in a francophone environment, and where Catholic values are fostered”. Patrick Venne believes that one of the next challenges will be getting to know the Chapleau families and students, and he looks forward to joining the community on a more permanent basis.
