The Lodge had received their Charter in 1969 and continued to operate until the first of the year, holding it's last New Year's Eve dance on December 31st, 2008. After having upwards of two hundred members in the past, membership had dwindled down to the low forties. The lack of enthusiasm by the general membership forced President Lévis

Gagné to call a meeting in December to determine the faith of the Chapleau Lodge. Having been at the helm of the club for 4 years, Mr. Gagné was seeking individuals to replace him, as he was a one man show for most of the last four years. M r. G a g n é deserves all the credit for giving all he had to try to keep the Lodge open. From running

the bar, the bingos, the spaghetti suppers to being the janitor, electrician and dish washer. "I did everything that I could to keep it alive" says Mr. Gagné. "But the lack of help took its' toll. Having to climb a 10 foot stepladder with two prosthetic legs to change light bulbs is no picnic." he adds. The Chapleau Moose Lodge has always been involved
