CHANDLER SCHOOL 2024-2025
MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT
Reflecting on the 2024-2025 school year, our experiences around the Eaton and Palisades Fires are at the forefront. The enormity of the destruction, disruption and displacement left the broader Los Angeles community feeling a profound sense of loss, uncertainty and shock. While allowing space for the trauma and devastation, a strong and united Chandler community took thoughtful action to care for impacted individuals. Chandler families opened their homes and hearts, selflessly shared resources, and partnered with our exceptional educators to provide safe and supportive environments for our students and other citizens. For this, we the Chandler community share in gratitude and pride.
Also highlighting the dynamic strength and character of Chandler’s community was the commencement of Chandler’s 75th Anniversary, featuring a range of events caringly designed to celebrate Chandler’s rich history and commitment to our community. In spring, Chandler Family Associates hosted the Shine Bright Family Fair, a beloved bi-annual tradition that brings together families, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators and friends to share in activities, food and entertainment. Special thanks to Zoe Regan and Joanne Sy, our Family Fair Co-Chairs, along with all the volunteers who made Shine Bright a symbolically joyous afternoon of connection and fun!
In summer, Chandler presented a uniquely beautiful commemorative photography and memorabilia exhibit: “Through the Lens: Celebrating 75 Years of Chandler School.” The curated images and objects brought to life the transformation of Chandler through seven decades, highlighting throughlines of excellence in academic education, character development and service to community. The exhibit and related gatherings brought together alumni, families, students, faculty and leaders, present and past, bonded by the experience of being a part of Chandler’s history. We are immensely grateful to the Scholart Selection and the family of Cindy Wang and Jason Ding for generously donating the gallery space and art services that allowed for this special shared storytelling.
In looking back, we came together as a community to inform our present and inspire our future. As a wise fellow Chandler trustee, parent and alumnus Senthil Durairaj ’92 is thoughtful to remind us, it is important to take the time to commemorate our successes. Indeed, guided by clearly defined priorities of well-being, belongingness and academic excellence and as a result of a caring and committed community and the unwavering dedication and industriousness of faculty, staff and administrators led by our Head of School, Mrs. Emily Brown, in the 2024-2025 academic year we also:
• Continued to advance the initiatives outlined in Chandler’s Strategic Plan Leading Together, including establishing meaningful community partnerships with The Children’s Education Initiative and La Pintoresca Library.
• Achieved 93% parent participation in Chandler’s Annual Fund, raising more than $1.3 Million, nearly 20% of which was dedicated to Eaton Fire Community Relief & Support
• Raised more than $3.5 Million for Chandler’s WE ARE Campaign, which brings us to $15.3 Million (85% to our final $18 Million), encompassing funding for capital improvements, faculty enrichment, programs, and financial aid.
• Secured $117,000 through the applause-worthy work of the Chandler Family Associates, led by President Olivia Moore, to improve our campus playground, fund our popular Learning Together Speaker Series, and support our amazing faculty with ongoing professional development.
While these successes are worthy of note, it is what they sustain that is worthy of our shared celebration––our students’ successes––in the classroom, at the debate podium, on the athletic field, upon the stage… To provide each student with the highest quality and most academically challenging education in a nurturing, balanced and diverse environment is our shared purpose and responsibility. We are abundantly grateful to our inspiring and talented faculty and employees who deliver Chandler’s mission every day. We recognize that it is our collective caring, involvement and support that allows our students to thrive.
On behalf of Chandler’s entire Board of Trustees, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to those who are highlighted in these pages, as well as to those who have come before, and to those who will join us to make significant contributions to Chandler’s enduring legacy. Under Emily Brown’s steadfast and visionary leadership, Chandler is setting a bold course for the future. As our 75th Anniversary continues, we look forward together! WELCOME NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEES 2025-2026
Olivia Moore is an entrepreneur and homemaker. She earned her undergraduate degree in communications with a hospitality background, at Boston University. Oliva has been involved in community organizations, including President of the Chandler Family Associates, Alumnae Board of Westridge School and the Pasadena Playhouse.
Casey Solomon ’00 is the Vice President & Associate Counsel at Capital Group. Casey earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University. Casey is a Chandler lifer who graduated in 2000.
Courtney Thomas ’93 is the Principal and Founder at Courtney Thomas Design, a Pasadena-based full-service interior design, renovation, new construction and decoration company. After graduating from Chandler in 1993, Courtney attended Phillips Academy Andover and was a communications major at New York University.

Founded in 1990, Partnership for Success (PFS) is a collaboration between the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) and four local independent schools— Chandler, Mayfield Junior, Polytechnic, and Westridge. Each summer, PFS offers an intensive, five-week academic enrichment program to over 400 Pasadena publicschool students, starting from the summer after fourth grade through the summer after high school graduation. Notably, 100% of PFS graduates are accepted to college, and many return as program interns. With the generous support of those listed below, PFS continues to benefit hundreds of public-school students each year, offering extraordinary learning opportunities, authentic connections, and college access.
